Daniel Jeremiah mock #3 (Hockenson to Bills)
somnus00 replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Hock is a great prospect... But how often is a tight end a difference maker? Just my opinion, but I wouldn't take a tight end with a top 10 pick. It's a bit of a luxury pick. I want d-line help on this team. We need it. -
D-linemen are bigger and faster. Linebackers can run 4.4 these days and still remain fluid. And the safeties... I disagree with you. Barry would be good. Just not great these days. But damn was he fun to watch in his prime. Never knew if it would be negative 3 yards, or a 60 yard td. Thanks for the conversation by the way.

Today's NBA is different. The players are bigger, faster without sacrificing agility. It's just a product of improved training, nutrition, etc. Jordan would still be good because, as you said, the time gap isn't too large. But I doubt he would dominate. By the way, I consider Jordan to be the greatest because I compare him to his contemporaries. Thanks for the comment by the way. Not being sarcastic.

I don't understand why Jim Brown loses points just because he played against smaller defenses. That was part of him being so amazing. Someone his size wasn't supposed to be that fast and athletic. You compare athletes against other athletes of their age. Jordan wouldn't be Jordan playing in today's NBA. Barry wouldn't be Barry in today's NFL. That doesn't diminish their greatness. They were generational talents. Greats. But in my opinion, no running back dominated his era like Jim Brown. Bo Jackson could've been... we were all robbed of his greatness.

I love Simmons. I think he'll drop further than people think.

Full Intelligent Breakdown of DK Metcalf

An elite WR makes plays. Greedy ate DK's lunch. Being an amazing physical specimen doesn't automatically make you a great receiver. -
Josh Allen discussed on The Rich Eisen Show | 4/19/18
somnus00 replied to mykidsdad's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've been skeptical of Allen all along. He wouldn't have been my choice at 7. But it's always been easy to see why so many were enamored with him. He's a physical specimen, played great at the Senior Bowl, smart kid, etc. Now that he's a Buffalo Bill, I'll be cheering for him on Sundays. I can't wait to find out that I would make a horrible GM. I feel like some people secretly hope he stinks just so they can point out that they were right about Allen. I, on the other hand, want to be wrong. -
True story. Something to keep in mind when looking at this picture: Josh Allen is 6' 5".

Prepare to be roasted my man. People on here are pretty vicious from the safety of the keyboard. But I, for one, appreciate your post. While Allen isn't the QB I was hoping for, I will support him. He's a quarterback on our team, and he's yet to play a single snap. From a sports fan perspective, there is nothing yet to hate about the kid. Since people value their own opinion over reality or facts, Allen has already become a polarizing figure in Buffalo sports. Me? I try to stay clear of negativity and of rose colored glasses. So I'll stay cautiously optimistic. I'll root for Josh Allen on Sundays (or whomever happens to be the starting QB). Cheers brother, and go Bills.

Is Allen’s mom hotter than Mccarrons ?

Are we seriously talking about the Buffalo Milfs? -
That would've eliminated Peyton Manning.

M. Rudolph. Would he make it to 53?
somnus00 replied to billsbackto81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Initially, I was iffy on Rudolph. This was based on scouting reports and comments on this board (always a mistake). Now that I've had a chance to watch clips of him play, I'm liking him more and more. He hits players in stride more than some of the other top qbs in this draft. I was also impressed with his intelligence after watching his interview with Steve Mariucci. Arm strength is still the question for me. His pro day should be interesting. Having said this, I agree with most that he won't go in the first round. I also agree with the OP that I'd like us to trade down to late 1st early 2nd and take him before a teams like the Saints, Pats, Chargers get a chance. Of course, if we had a shot at Rosen or Darnold, I'd prefer either of those two. -
I have been a critic of Mayfield. I don't like him as a QB. Not that I wish him a bad career. Hopefully for him, I'm wrong (unless he plays for the Pats, Fins, or Jets). But what I see is a great college QB that won't translate well to the NFL. My opinion of him went up a little at first when I saw his interview with Mariucci. He seems to have football smarts. But watching him at the podium in front of the press dropped my opinion of him again. Yes, he's a fighter and a competitor. But he also came off as a bit of a douche. Maybe it's just my impression, but when he told reporters that he lifted up the play of the whole team...eh. That's one of those things that you let others say about you. Not something that you say yourself. That isn't the only reason I don't want to draft him.

This should be the Bills plan at Qb
somnus00 replied to billspro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Couldn't agree more. I understand the love for Mayfield. He made things happen, sure. As you said, he's "spirited." But I don't think that style translates to the NFL where he'll be up against superior talent. He made a lot of fun, risky throws in college... that would've been picked off in the NFL. We all want our next Jim Kelly. We want someone to believe in. I get it. But I don't think Mayfield is that guy. Just my opinion, but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express. -
I'm having trouble seeing what so many like about Mayfield. Not trying to be a jerk here. He was fun to watch. He made things happen...at the college level. But, to me, he made a lot of throws that would've been picked off in the NFL. The improvisational style can work great in college. It doesn't work as consistently in the pros.

I don't see Center being as big a need as some on this board. Groy played very well when he stepped in for Wood last year. Of course, I don't know what blocking scheme the Bills will be employing next season.

I solved the Bills QB problem and it was easy
somnus00 replied to Batman1876's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we're going to go this route, why don't the Bills just create a player? Let's say 6 '6, 250 lbs. Accuracy, Arm strength, and Awareness 99s. Then set the experience level of the NFL to "rookie." -
[Please Change Title]Kyle Lauletta

Like Peterman, I think Lauletta will be hindered by his arm strength. -
PFF Grades for Every 2017 2nd Round Pick

Small consolation prize for Williams. -
Looks like he's good in even years. 2018...? Seriously, though, I'd rather not go with Bradford.
-
I agree that you have to take the points there. You can't trust this offense to drive and get points...I don't care where starting field position may be.

Another difficult game to watch.......
somnus00 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Peterman has the right mentality for this kind of offense. Drop back and throw the ball. The play is run quickly. But the football just hung out there on the int. His arm strength was a big factor in the interception. -
Ravens Board Game Day Thread When Bengals Scored
somnus00 replied to Rico's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Ravens' fan base appears to be somewhat upset with this Dean Pees fellow. By the way, is it poetic justice that it was the Ravens who provided the Bills with a "surcease of sorrow?" -
Playoffs? Playoffs?? The Playoff Chances Thread
somnus00 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Considering our history, I'd expect the Ravens, Titans AND Chargers to lose...everything going our way...then we blow a late lead in Miami and still miss the playoffs.
