  1. His physical gifts have been apparent to everyone (even those who don't like Allen). But his ability to accept coaching and to improve is seriously impressive. The season is far from over. He will have bumps along the way. But we have a QB here that will evaluate himself and make changes to his game when it's needed for improvement. I just can't stress enough how important that is to any quarterback, but especially one as physically gifted as Josh Allen. He works his @ss off fixing the negative parts of his game. I can't say enough good things about this young man. So impressed; whatever happens to his career from here on out.
  2. Miami's TEs will have a good day on Sunday if Klein is covering them. This makes me a bit nervous. Are we going to see Siran Neal, Dean Marlowe, or Jaquan Johnson used in the lineup to help on passing downs? It'll be interesting to see how McDermott and Frazier gameplan.
  3. Both body type, and body of work suggest that Ford should be at RG and Williams at RT. Just my opinion (such as it is).
  4. Christ, I hope not. I want Gase to get a lifetime contract.
  5. He played very well for the Panthers for 2 seasons at RT. Then he dislocated his kneecap and was IRed for a year. When he came back from IR, he played at different positions on the line (LT and LG if I remember right). He struggled there. But he was out of position a year following a tough injury. I'm hoping that he's primed for a comeback.
  6. I believe that Williams is our best pickup of the offseason. Sure, he was terrible as an LT. But he's just a couple seasons removed from an all-pro RT year. I expect him to be a borderline probowl lineman. Fingers crossed.
  7. "Problem," is a strong word. But I'd say CB2 is a weak link on a pretty stacked roster. I was hoping for a CB2 in the draft. We were in position to take 2 that I really liked. Is there a chance the Norman improves in McDermott's defense? Sure, but he's not a spring chicken, he's never been fast, his physical gifts just aren't there anymore. He needs to be the wily veteran who uses his football smarts to make plays. I don't like relying on that. I love Levi as a back-up. But he doesn't have the physical gifts to be a playmaker or to stop a playmaker.
  8. I vote: Washington Sentinals Then they can sign Shane "Quicksand" Falco.
  9. A man that large is not supposed to have feet that fast. Just one of the reasons he'll be getting >$15 million/year really soon.
  10. I remember the old NFL 2k games. I liked them so much more than Madden. I don't play video games anymore, but if the 2k series was allowed to come back (i.e. madden loses exclusivity deal) I'd seriously consider getting back into gaming.
  11. This is exactly what I was thinking. Black? It gets well over 100F in Vegas. This has to increase operational costs to keep that building cool.
  12. Close number 2 to Reed. One of my favorite Bills of all time and not just because he was a beast for me in NFL2k.
  13. I never mentioned his physical gifts. Clearly you're right. He has those in spades. I was referencing his limited experience as a pro-style wide receiver. Sure, I was being hyperbolic in saying that 80% of his catches were WR screens. But there were big concerns about Sammy's ability to run routes. It wasn't something that he was asked to do in Clemson. https://www.si.com/nfl/2014/06/02/sammy-watkins-buffalo-bills This article goes over his route running concerns. Turns out it was only 44% of his catches were screens. At the time, it was a huge risk giving up a first to move up to take a receiver in the top 5. Even more of a risk to do it for a guy who rarely played WR (despite his obvious gifts that you mentioned). That's what I meant in my original statement.
  14. And in a receiver who had a route tree, at Clemson, that consisted of 80% WR screens.
  15. Would it help? Sure. I don't see why not. But still. It's very difficult to track body composition and macronutrients (proper balance between proteins, carbs, and fats) remotely. Also, what kind of gym and equipment does he have access to? I'm not saying he can't put on significant muscle. Hell, I don't even know if he should. All I'm saying is that it would be difficult given the current circumstances. Like I said, gaining 10 lbs of muscle is hard work, especially for ectomorphs like Hodgins, even with the proper support.
  16. Can he gain 10lbs of solid weight? Yes. He's not a speedy guy anyway. And he's not the guy, right now anyway, to gain separation by himself. I envision him in the slot making contested catches. So gaining muscle may be good for him. I think his biggest obstacle is Covid 19. It's hard to gain 10lbs of muscle. But it's even harder to do it without help. Monitoring calorie intake, macros, and a proper weight training regimen. I don't think the bills training staff will be able to help much right now.
  17. I don't know if any are locks after Epenesa and Moss. But they all have a chance to make the final roster. I have a feeling that Hodgins will be a better pro than Davis. He seems to be the right kind of WR that Allen needs. A big target. Like Duke, Hodgins doesn't get much separation. But, unlike Duke, the young man CATCHES EVERYTHING. I can see Josh giving Hodgins a chance to make a play on the ball.
  18. Maybe he needs someone tossing bricks at him. Didn't Jerry Rice train his hands this way? I could swear I read that somewhere. Maybe just an urban legend.
  19. I agree with you that he was troubled. I too hope things get better for him. He suffered terrible losses as well. But I feel that you could see this on the field at Alabama. Just went through the motions at times. Physical abilities were not the problem. I know this is just a game we're talking about. He had more important things going on. But respectfully, I don't think his career was solid for the #3 overall pick. You need a superstar at that pick. I appreciate your comments by the way. Our opinions aren't that far apart, I feel.
  20. Yes, I was calling for him. It's not just about stats. Watching him play in college, you could see he was a monster. His game speed for a guy that big was just unreal. I did not want Dareus. Again, just from watching him play. He dominated at times, but didn't seem to care at others. I've been wrong plenty of times with regards to college players. I have no problem admitting that. I wasn't sold on Russell Wilson. Huge screw up there.
  21. I don't like our chances if Fromm has to play a few games for us this year. He may be good for the QB room. But I don't see him being good for the field on Sundays. Playing game manager for a crazy talented college program doesn't mean he has what it takes in the NFL. I wanted the Bills to take a QB in the draft. Just not Fromm. He's the kind of guy who becomes a successful coach after leaving the NFL.
  22. At the time, I hated the Dareus pick. I wanted Watt there (even at 3), or a trade down for Cameron Jordan. My 2 favorite D-line prospects in that draft. I saw Dareus as a 2 down DT. You don't spend the 3rd overall pick on a 2 down player in my opinion.
  23. I didn't know that about the body fat. I wonder if playing at 260 - 265 would allow him to play quicker without losing too much strength.
  24. He tackled Gabriel Davis in that clip. At the :35 mark. He's not allergic to contact.
  25. I'm the same way. I didn't like the pick at first. But I've been watching a lot more of him over the past few hours. He's slow. But he is freakishly strong, and just seems to make plays. Like you're saying, maybe it's his film study that will set him apart. We'll see. Hopefully he ends up as a great addition that teams regret passing over.
