Breaking: Von Miller to bills, 6 year , 120 million
Billsguy replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
Insanely bad contract for the Bills. A good contract if it was 2016. Great deal for Miller. -
McDermott has to improve. Explaining his decision to go for it on fourth down, he said after the game that he trusts his players. He also said he didn't want to give the Titans another chance because they were dominating the Bills defense in the second half. In other words, he trusted the offense to get the first down, but he didn't trust his defense to stop the Titans if the game went to overtime. Weak answer. This is talking out of both sides of your mouth. McDermott's response to the question was poor and unacceptable. I agree with the decision to go for it, but the play call was abysmal. This is partly due to the Bills not having a quality running back or a strong offensive line. Did you see Dion Dawkins get blown up on the play? Pathetic. The play call was the real weak link. What sense does it make to QB sneak into an area packed tightly with 300+ lb. lineman and no space whatsoever? None. The Bills lost a game that they should have won. This loss was on the coaching. Titans DL was crushing the Bills OL the whole game and on fourth down you forget that fact? Hopefully McDermott will learn from it. And hopefully another team will hire Daboll next year.

Two obvious issues: 1.) Horrendous play calling (and coaching by extension) 2.) No NFL quality running backs (Singletary and Moss are nothing more than bench depth)

Highmark stadium cleared for full capacity
Billsguy replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would guess that they are counting on the decency and honesty of those who enter the stadium. Hopefully, these people are less selfish and self centered to consider the welfare of others. If only certain players would share the same respect for others. It's not about me, me, me all the time. Other people matter! -
After two picks, I am so relieved the Bills selected lineman. They have serious needs in many areas, but building the lines first makes the most sense. I think they were solid picks.

Who’s the ONE guy that you want in this draft?
Billsguy replied to McBean's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yessss please! ...wait I have to turn off my alarm clock! Here is what I think will happen. Beane will trade up or trade down. He is restless and impulsive and he can't seem to help himself. He thinks he's being creative, but actually it's impatience. My hope for the draft at the top end is drafting the OL and DL in either order. Jonah Williams or Jawaan Taylor on offense. You can't overestimate the value of the offensive line. It makes average QB's and RB's good, and makes good ones great. The problem with the Bills is that they have needs on both sides of the ball. The DL definitely needs help. There are four or five top guys who could help the Bills immediately. I would prefer an interior lineman (i.e. Williams, Oliver) If the Bills trade down a little they still might get Christian Wilkins and pick up another pick. I'm reluctant to draft a TE at #9, but there is strong need there to be sure. I hope big men are at the top of the board. My fear is they draft a WR like DK Metcalf who looks better on paper than reality. -
If you plotted the free agents that have been signed so far on a spectrum from "camp fodder" to "All Pro", I think it would be fair to say most are somewhere in the middle. Basically, the signings are average on balance. There are a couple slightly above average, but there are also some purely speculative and others based on wishful thinking. Several are basically mediocre career back-ups. I can always sense the optimism when the Bills management does anything! Just because the Bills have done something this off-season shouldn't automatically lead to the conclusion that it will pay off. However, I do like the emphasis being paid to the offensive line. I'll give positive marks for addressing this area of desperate need! Whether the signings succeed remains to be seen. It is also important to consider the dismal state of affairs at seasons' end. A team that had a 6-10 record has tremendous room for improvement. The bar is very low. As a long time Bills fan, I've seen this story many times before. Don't forget to consider, the opposition is trying to improve as well. I would guess the Jets are even more optimistic than the Bills.

Talent vs Multiple low level players?
Billsguy replied to 100DollarBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was thinking about the free agents that the Bills are expected to sign this year and it seems to me the Bills are building an average team. Maybe these average players will become stars and the Bills will contend for a Super Bowl. I guess it's theoretically possible. The Bills have always been able to sign and overpay free agents, but the point is to make the team better by doing so. Sadly, history shows the failures far outnumber the successes for the Bills in this area. -
The stupidity of Free Agency summed up in one deal.

Bucky and Sully Blackballed By The Pegulas?
Billsguy replied to Phil The Thrill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I totally agree. What the !@#$ is wrong with these knuckledraggers who are against free speech and freedom of the press? Are you kidding me? What the hell is wrong with a dissenting point of view? This is America you a$$holes. I am really worried for this country if we believe it is alright to attack the free press and complain about freedom of speech. The Pegulas should be ashamed of themselves! What an un-American disgraceful act of cowardice. What a bunch of pussies who are afraid to hear criticism. You may disagree with Sullivan and Gleason, but it is an American right to be able to express their opinions without being blackballed by some arrogant thin skinned billionaire. God save America from these morons. -
Kelvin Benjamin needs to be cut
Billsguy replied to TwistofFate's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Beane loves him for some unholy reason. What does that tell you about Beane as a talent evaluator? Please send them both back to Carolina!!! The first move I would make would be to cut or trade the sorry ass Benjamin. -
I love the "dead cap space" argument for why the Bills suck. It reminds me of the apocryphal story of the young man who kills both his parents and then asks the judge for leniency because he is an orphan!!! The idiot GM Beane and his clueless friend McDermott created the mess they claim has victimized them. These two clowns have made all the decisions that have led this franchise to become a laughingstock of the league. An offense that is historically bad by any measure has been brought to you by GM Beane and head coach McDoofus! Jon Gruden trades away Khalil Mack, his best pass rusher, and then whines about his teams' lack of pass rush. He tries to blame anyone and anything other than himself. This is another example of incompetence. In the future, the Bills cap situation will likely improve. Whoopee! Do you have great faith in this management team to succeed in handling it? Free agents see Buffalo as a last chance stop for a big paycheck before retirement. The Bills record of signing big money free agents who have produced well has been largely a deplorable failure.
-
Here is what I observe: the architects of the dreadful state of the Bills are the head coach and the GM. They are responsible for this mess. I don't know if they share responsibility equally, but they are both failing miserably at their jobs. When I hear the pathetic head coach deliver his, "Starting Nathen Peterman is the right thing to do" speech I want to throw up! Does he really believe Bills fans are that stupid? The general manager has constructed one of the worst offenses in Bills history and Bills fans are supposed to keep quiet? What an insult to all Bills fans! The Pegulas are ultimately responsible. Are they buying this BS from their head coach and GM? Apparently they are.

Bills need to build around their centerpiece.
Billsguy replied to Tatonka68's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely TRUE! I would argue that building should start in the trenches for both offense and defense. A top quality offensive line can make an average running back or QB look very good to great. A bad or mediocre offensive line can make a great QB or RB look average to poor. My frustration and disappointment with the Bills is that they believe the secret to offensive success is to give up multiple draft choices to trade up so that they can draft the QB and even WR positions. Drew Bledsoe, EJ Manuel, Sammy Watkins, and Josh Rosen immediately come to mind. The Bills have chosen to put their shiny new toy (Josh Allen) behind an offensive line that gets QB's injured. The Bills management seems to believe the opposite. The results speak for themselves. Brandon Beane and McDermott have assembled one of the worst offenses in modern NFL history. Why is Nathan Peterman in the NFL? The WR's as a group are the worst in the NFL. The QB's get pummeled behind a patchwork line of mediocre quality. Mystery solved! Who will hold the coach and GM responsible? Anyone? -
It is ALL about the management from the president of the Bills (K Pegula), to the GM, to the head coach, to the assistant coaches. They are failing in every way. In particular, the GM and head coach are very mediocre. They have made numerous bad decisions too many to list, but the bottom line is that the team is not progressing. Personnel decisions have been particularly bad Mr. Beane. What kind of organization puts out a QB like Peterman into NFL games when he is clearly not capable. This organization would prefer to lose with Peterman rather than hire a much better QB (Kaepernick) because of politics and non-football BS. This organization is seriously flawed. Here we go again.

The Bills seem to be cursed with a lack of talent in management, coaching, and players. Otherwise, things are looking up! Everyone around the league knows the Bills are a laughingstock. It is almost universally acknowledged. The only exceptions are the Bills' head coach and the diehard fans who refuse to accept the pain of reality. The problem with the line of BS coming out McDermott's mouth is that many of the fans have eyes that can see and brains that function. Everyone else is welcome to eat his BS.

When are the Bills going to cut Peterman?
Billsguy replied to icewood44's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Listen I'm no fan of Peterman, but he was given the opportunity by incompetent bosses. He was the sacrificial lamb. The coach and GM are the real clowns in this circus. Aaron Rodgers would get absolutely killed behind this embarrassment of an offensive line. No quarterback in the NFL could prosper with this line and the worst receivers (as a group) in the NFL. The management at One Bills Drive should be ashamed of themselves for putting this horrible product on an NFL field. I've been a Bills fan since day one and no fan should be proud of this terrible situation orchestrated by the clueless Brandon Beane. -
Brandon "Dead Cap Money" Beane must assume responsibility. Beane is responsible for the current state of the team. The offensive line, receiving corps and QB situation all rank at the very bottom of the league. Other areas aren't so good either. He is spending Pegula's money like he's playing a billionaire monopoly game. I don't care if he spends all Pegula's money. Sadly, Bills fans have to suffer through this continual mismanagement. The fanboys will defend him saying it's only one game, but it has been obvious for a long time that his numerous mistakes would manifest themselves. It has been many months in the making. It is not a conclusion just from a single game result. It was always there to see if you could remove the rose colored fanboy sunglasses for just a minute.
-
I hope he survives week 1. The offensive line might get him killed against the Ravens. He looks like a sacrificial lamb being led to slaughter. I hope, for his sake, I'm wrong.
-
Roster is set, pre-season over, how are you feeling?
Billsguy replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you nailed it. The offensive line is not very good and the QB's will get killed. The WR's are probably one of the weakest groups in the league. The team will not get near the playoffs this year. Some strange moves by the GM cost the Bills a lot of money. Corey Coleman was going to be cut by the Browns, but they found a sucker to eat his money due and get a draft pick for him. I guess it's easy to spend someone else's money. If the Pegulas don't care, I don't. If things go extremely well, I see seven wins. If they go poorly, four wins. BTW, how the heck do they keep four TE's? -
I agree completely. If the over/under is 9 wins for the Bills, the under will win 90% of the time imo. Last year was kind of a fluke in that an extremely flawed team made the playoffs. There is a lot more work to be done. This team needs to add a lot of talent in several key areas. (Two in particular are WR and OL.)

Move Training Camp Back to Fredonia?
Billsguy replied to Paul Costa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hail Fredonia!!! The dark cloud that has lingered over the Bills and Sabres has finally left. The Brandon curse is no more! Let the winning begin.
