10/14/24 Game 6 GAMEDAY Bills at Jets MNF PREGAME THREAD
RunTheBall replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
If Josh doesn’t get the happy feet and takes what the defense is giving him, we will win by 2 scores, especially with Shakir back. Brady needs to switch it up on first down instead of running it 80% of the time. Run the ball, get Knox and Kincaid involved, give Shakir 10 targets and need defined routes for Cook out of the backfield. -
Why isn't Brady using more Play action?
RunTheBall replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
The o-line is getting confused with simulated pressures. Until that get cleaned up you can’t have Josh turn his back to the defense because he will get killed. Brady doesn’t trust the o-line right now. Plus, when you are down 2 scores, play action doesn’t work as effectively and we’ve been down quick the last 2 games. -
Allen was horrific on Sunday and it was multifactorial. 1) He got pressured early because our protection schemes suck. This O-line has a hard time figuring out who’s coming. They aren’t getting smoked all the time 1 on 1 (although Edwards, Torrance, and Brown had some turnstile blocks) but the simulated pressures are confusing them. Then Josh got the happy feet, and started bailing out of clean pockets. The WRs suck, but there were plenty of opportunities where they did get open and Josh passed them up, God knows why. It happens, he had a sht game. He was 9 for 30 against an AFC contender and we should have taken them to OT. Brady needs to switch up the first down runs though. Can’t remember exactly but it was like 80% of the time he was running on first down. Clown show.

I’m a lot more concerned about Josh reverting back to Sugar High Josh this past Sunday and not taking the easy throws than I am some bum Jets HC getting fired. Saleh was loved by his defensive guys. Now the perception is going to be that Rogers, who’s offense has sucked, got him fired. And many people here think that’s going to give them an emotional boost? Whatever

I’m also looking forward to the All-22. Josh had a horrific game but I’d like to see if his decision making has regressed. Are our receivers as bad as I think they are? Were there easy plays to be made that Josh just passed up going for deeper shots? And speaking of the deep ball, when’s the last time Josh hit one? My perception is that his deep ball has sucked now since last year. He’s missing wide open guys deep on the regular and when he does hit one, they drop it. -

I don’t even know where to begin. I think the 3-0 start against garbage teams gave us an inflated sense of how good this team could be. I’m off the McD train. It’s not going to happen, but it’s time for a change. We need a new philosophy. I trusted the process for 8 years and he continues to come up short when the game gets tight. This was the worst case of coaching malpractice since 13 seconds. Everybody eats is a failure. Diggs was right. We need a #1 WR and I’d rather Josh throw a bunch of picks and 4 TDs a game than this garbage offense we are seeing now. Where are all the clowns who were worried Brady was going to be 1 and done and get a head coaching job after this season? He’s in over his head. Our offensive line is offensive. We are wasting Josh’s prime years. If Collins stays in this game we get blown out. I know this year was supposed to be a step back but we are losing games because of a lack of talent and lack of good coaching. Bean isn’t blameless. Samuel is a bust, Hollis is a bust, Keon right now is meh, Kincaid is meh, Knox sucks, MVS sucks, Torrance has regressed. It’s pizza night and I’m not even hungry. McD ruined pizza night with his pathetic coaching and that’s unforgivable. -
Rogers just got PLANTED hahahaha. Love to see it
-
GURANTEED we don’t get these holding calls that Sauce does every single play. BTW Roger’s looks disinterested. I’m sure he’s got a few good games left in the tank but he doesn’t worry me.

Concerned that Joe Brady may have crashed back to reality.
RunTheBall replied to Spiderweb's topic in The Stadium Wall
Do some of you guys even watch the game critically or do you just look at the results and say “Oh Brady sucks now” Holy sht. Ok let’s start with the fact that the trick play was an abomination and cost us a chance to get back in the game. Brady flat out said he blew it, and also said the game plan was sound but his play calling sucked. That’s accountability. Now, why did our offense suck? It’s simple, our offensive line had a crap night. Josh was under pressure 50% of his drop backs and we had limited success running against one of the better run D’s. Couple that with our defense being a sieve and we were in a 2 score deficit 90% of the game, the game script goes out the window. So how did Brady adjust? In the second half we saw much more 12 personell, 6-7 man protections. And guess what, the Ravens STILL GOT PRESSURE rushing 5 guys. If you have 7 man protection, Josh and Cook on the field, then you only have 2 WR and maybe a RB or TE in a route being covered by 6 guys. How do you win a game when they can rush 5 and get pressure when you are keeping 6-7 guys in to block? You can’t. I’m not absolving Brady, and he needs to bounce back with a sound game plan this week, but any game plan will go to hell when your O-line is as bad as ours was Sunday night. -
Week 5 - Bills at Texans Game Week Thread

All I know is these coordinators better come up with a game plan that makes sense against Houston’s weaknesses instead of that garbage plan we saw last week. Houston can’t stop the run, so James Cook needs to be the focus all game. That doesn’t mean running 80% of the time, it means establishing him early and using that to set up the play action pass game. On defense, I’d bracket Collins all game long and play zone. Diggs is going to get is catches, just make them short ones then hit him hard after. They have no run game without Mixon and a hurt Pearce but Buffalo has a habit of making garbage RBs look all world. With our depleated defensive line it’s going to be up to Babitch to call timely run blitzes and not let them get a semblance of a ground game. I like our chances. McD is good coming off a loss (14-2). Josh has been playing elite level ball, our O-line should be dominant again and we should have a very good running game to set everything else up. -
People are forgetting that this is a re-load year and we have 2 rookie coordinators to boot. You don’t trade your best WR and take a 31 million dead cap hit if you are in win now mode. That loss was 90% coaching. Both coordinators sht the bed with their game plans. I have no idea why they consistently played light boxes against the Ravens heavy personnel and got steam rolled as a result. The plan should have been to sell out against the run, close the middle of the field and make Lamar throw outside the numbers. It’s mind boggling they went with light/neutral boxes. On offense, except for that horrific trick play, it’s a little harder to evaluate Brady because our O-line just stunk. Everyone had a bad game and Josh was pressured constantly. Hard to develop any flow when you are getting destroyed in the trenches on both sides of the ball. We got blown out. It happens but not very often to us (44 games). How they respond against Houston will tell us a lot about the rest of the season and direction of this team.

Yikes. IDK if there’s much you can take from an ass kicking like that. How hey bounce back (or not) against Houston will tell me a lot more about this team. -

It’s pretty simple, if our D line is dominant against a banged up Ravens O-line, we win handily. If they aren’t, it’s going to be a close one. Ed needs to have a disruptive game in the backfield, the ends need to contain Lamar, and DaQuon needs to do his usual double team absorption so our LBs can shoot the gaps and hit Henry before he gets going. -

You are joking right? There is zero chance Dabol comes back as OC. He won’t run the offense McD wants, which is a much more balanced attack. Dallas is horrendous at stopping the run and what did Daboll scheme up? Daniel “Mac” Jones tossing up 40 noodle armed passes. Strong pass on Daboll. -
I think McBeane are hoping that Keon develops into that downfield/outside threat that Badol is rightly concerned about. We’ve gotta let it play out a while before we need to entertain the need for a WR trade. I wouldn’t be against it at the right trade price if it’s obvious by the trade deadline we can’t exploit every area of the field. I share the concern that if we can’t exploit the deep and outside areas that teams will gameplan against what we like to do with that in mind, but that hasn’t been shown yet since we have been boat racing teams early.

The Bruce Exclusive with Bruce Nolan. It’s a different type of podcast to be sure, once a week and a quick half hour. This week he spends the first half of the pod talking about JADS (Josh Allen Delusion Syndrome) tongue in cheek ripping on all the BS narratives about why Josh isn’t good according to the haters. Second half is a great explanation of Adjusted EPA and why it’s a good thing Josh’s has dropped (it means he’s getting lots of YAC, which is what we’ve been clamoring for). Check it out. -

Bruce Nolan does a really nice job of explaining EPA vs Adjusted EPA on his podcast today. IMO, Nolan has one of the best Bills related podcasts for the fan that is distinctly different than Cover 1, Marino, etc. He’s a smart dude that hits on some esoteric topics instead of just X’s and O’s Essentially, Adjusted EPA takes away from the QB’s EPA when the YAC is a lot more than expected. So if Josh throws a 5 yard slant, and the expected YAC after that slant is say 7 more yards, but Shakir takes it to the house with 40 yard of YAC, Josh doesn’t get credited for that extra 40 yards. It’s attempting to adjust the QBs EPA to his involvement in the play as opposed to inflating his EPA because he made an “easy” throw and the receiver ran for a ton of YAC -

Why do so many of you worry about what anyone outside of Buffalo thinks about our team? There’s so much bellyaching about what the narrative will be if we win or lose. Who cares what the national narrative is? No one knows our team like we do. They’ve gotten narratives wrong for years. All we need is another W no matter how we get it. Josh has said straight up the only trophy he cares about is the Lombardi and that’s music to my ears. MVP is meaningless as evidence by Lamar getting it last year. Maybe Baltimore should worry about getting out played physically by us instead of so many of you guys worrying about the “dominant” Ravens rush offense. We’ve been bullying teams for 3 straight games. McD has already demonstrated he has the scheme to limit Lamar. All we have to do is execute. Henry is on the downside of his career. Don’t get me wrong, I like him and I respect him as a runner but he’s not the threat he used to be. Our D-line vs their O-line should be our advantage and we’ve got penetrators, which is exactly the type of D-line that slow Henry down. Henry isn’t running wide and if he does, we will stuff him with our DBs coming up. It’s between the tackles he does his damage so penetrate the backfield, timely run blitzes, and gang tackle if he gets through. As for Lamar, that’s pretty simple. McD contains the rush on him like we did Murray and he’ll try and play middle field closed. Lamar is going to make plays but if you force him to throw outside instead of over the middle he’s much less effective. Yeah we could lose, but if we play our game (physical on both sides of the line, limit TOs and low penalties) it’s a 2 score win. Go Bills! -
Gen X doesn’t have one clear anthem. We’ve got a TON of ageless songs that my teenagers are into today. From Journey to Billy Joel to Meatloaf, Cheap Trick, Rush, and a million one hit wonders, we have an eclectic mix to choose from.

Dude that sounds like a funeral Brightside is about right for this team/generation. Don’t Stop Believing belongs to Gen X though so don’t even think about taking our sht

No one hates Gabe the person. He was a good dude and was made captain for a reason. It’s not his fault he’s a number 3 at best and we tried to make him a #2 after 1 great playoff game. Allen made him millions! He doesn’t get 1/4 of that bag with out Josh throwing him the ball. We were never resigning Gabe it didn’t matter the number. The Poyer trashing is disgusting. The guy didn’t want to leave, we cut him! So he went to MIA where his yappy wife wanted to be to cash a check and retire into the sunset. Nothing wrong with that, he will be on the wall of fame at some point. He was very outgoing with his ex teammates before the game and spent plenty of time on the team bus after the game. Too many clowns trying to make an issue where there isn’t any. The constant need for some Bills fans to trash ex Bills is ridiculous. Oh btw Diggs is a diva and were are better off without that cancer 😜

Keon Coleman - benched 1st quarter for being late
RunTheBall replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is a complete nothing burger. It’s McD holding a 21 year old rookie accountable and teaching him to be a Pro. The entire team notices moves like this and it sets the standard. Then McD uses the situation to praise how Keon handled it. That’s a coach/teacher. -
