I’m glad everyone is picking against the Bills. We play better as underdogs and being counted out. We’ve seen how Buffalo plays in the divisional round when everyone is extolling how great they are

The Pittsburgh game was very interesting in what they tried to do to limit Henry/Lamar on the read option. The DE crashed every time to keep Henry from getting it and the LB scraped to Lamar’s side but they just got toasted constantly by Lamar because they weren’t fast enough or other guys lost leverage on the blocks. I think I’d do the opposite. I’d have the DEs stay home and not give Lamar the edge, but go heavy with 3 LBs and bring a safety down or run blitz on likely running downs. Without Flowers their WR aren’t great, and Andrew’s is coverable by TB.

Mack Hollins is a treasure. I hated him in the #2 role where he looked like a deer in the headlights trying to catch deep passes from Josh against Houston. I love him in the WR4 role and on special teams. He smoked the consensus #1 CB in the AFC who’d been talking smack this week and gave him the big stomp. Love it. Sign him for a couple more years at 3 mil/per. He’s earned it and worth it. Fits Buffalo to a T.

Dude can we enjoy a playoff win against a solid defensive team for a couple hours before you share your anxiety with the rest of us? Seriously, what is with some of you guys who so casually dismiss a playoff win at home? Smell the roses for a day or so. We dominated a playoff team. Have a drink, enjoy the W. These are the good days and don’t take them for granted.

The Chargers are gaaaaarbage. Herbert is no where near Mahomes/Allen/Lamar. He’s a mid QB just like Stroud. This is battle of the over rated QBs
-
Can someone tell me why Poona Ford couldn’t see the field with us? Is our ability to evaluate and develop talent at the DT level that bad? DT has been a consistent weakness on our D and this guy is balling out. From what I’ve read, he’s been pretty consistent all year too. So why didn’t he do a thing with us?

I think your feed is on a 20 minute delay

Stroud is straight garbage. Herbert can’t make cross body throws like Josh. LAC should be dominating this game and it’s going to bite them in the ass. What a crap display of playoff football. You know if either of these teams was playing the Bills they’d be having the game of their lives though. Seems to always happen.

Stroud sucks at football this year. He is horribly over rated. Pundits and fans are way too quick to anoint young QBs as the next Hall of Famer. DCs get a year of film on a guy and then can game plan against their tendencies. Stroud will need to counter punch and idk if he’s the type of dude to do it. Any rookie QB who anoints himself a top 5 QB in the league takes himself way too seriously and probably doesn’t work as hard as he could to improve. Next year we will be saying the same thing about Nix and Maye.

AP All-Pro Teams Announced. Josh 2nd Team Only Bill.
RunTheBall replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’ve said numerous times I don’t care about these individual awards because they are basically just popularity contests. There’s no way Josh is winning a popularity contest with pundits and talking heads who he continues to prove wrong season after season, they just move the goal posts for what the MVP is to accommodate their desired choice (Lamar). I think there’s an element of racism against Josh too although we aren’t allowed to talk about that since he’s a white guy. Lamar is a phenomenal QB and I don’t think he needs to be torn down in order to elevate Josh. If the MVP meant anything it would be a no brainer that Josh wins it because he’s done more with less according to those very same voters (All Pro/MVP). The discourse this year on Allen vs Lamar has been toxic, not fun at all, and I’ve tried to avoid it as much as possible. I hope Lamar wins the MVP then loses to Pitt on Sunday Just win the Lombardi and then laugh in the faces of all these voters who have an elevated sense of themselves because they get a vote. -
Bills will take care of business against Denver. McD is good against rookie QBs. I think he and Babitch will be able to confuse Nix enough to make him hesitate and make some mistakes. Nix doesn't have a lot of experience against Cover 2 and our zone schemes. With the team we currently have I think the strategy is to get up early to give our turnover dependent D a better chance to get some stops. I'd even understand not deferring if we win the toss (and I usually like to defer every single time). I still think D wins Championships and for us to win our D is going to have to go on a heater and get TOs each game. I don't think it's realistic but hey, that's why we play the games.

Expectations - reality = disappointment It really depends on what you expected out of Keon in his first year as a second round WR My expectations were low, so I’m pretty happy with what he’s done his rookie year. I think the Poyer cheap shot set him back as he was coming on week to week and that came to a screeching halt post injury My expectations for next year will be higher, so we will see if he meets them. Btw, anyone trying to take anything out of a less than pre season game against 2 teams trying to lose really needs a better understanding of football.

It’s hilarious how quick some here have immediately turned to stressing over the Broncos. Give me a break. Yeah, they are a good team but no where near as dangerous as Burrow and Chase/Higgins. McD eats rookie QBs for lunch. I’m glad they blew out KC because they are going to be over confident. This weekend couldn’t have tuned out any better for us. NE drops down the draft order, Miami is a complete Cluster Fk, Joe Burrow and his frosted tips are making reservations in Cabo, Mayo gets fired (wish they kept that loser). I didn’t want to see Miami because the law of averages is going to catch up eventually and I don’t want any chance that could be in the playoffs. This is the best era of Bills football since the Super Bowl years and if we win one, then it will be the best. Take the time to enjoy the moment instead of worrying about Bo Nix looking good against 2nd and 3rd stringers.

How is firing the guy that was the cause of the problem considered scapegoating? Dorsey sucked. His offense was too complex for the players to run consistently. McD recognized this and made the change at OC that immediately paid dividends. That’s not scapegoating, that’s good head coaching recognizing you made a mistake in hiring him as OC and rectifying the problem.
-
Just because NE may get a bunch of picks if they trade #1 doesn’t mean they will do anything with them. Look at Miami, they had a crap load of picks after the Tunsil trade and how’d that turn out? They suck. I’d like our backups to pound NE and embarrass them. Sweep the division. Make the statement that even our second string guys own you. F’n Pats*.

He’s definitely taken a step back this season. I’m not sure why that is. My guess is our D-line isn’t doing as good a job keeping O-lineman from getting to the second level and he’s getting swallowed up. I’d get some bigger bodies up front next season and give him half a season behind a better D-line and see if he returns to last years form before deciding on an extension.

Beane is going to re-sign most if not all our guys that are up for second contracts. It’s the Buffalo way, you reward those guys who you’ve developed and they’ve produced. Here’s the order 1) Groot 2) Benford 3) Shakir 4) Cook 5) Bernard Beane is going to make them all reasonable, competitive offers. If one or a bunch of them only care about making as much as they possibly can, Beane will let them walk. If we can get rid of Diggs and be better, we can get rid of any of these guys and be better. Don’t think jettisoning a #1 WR who was getting PAID doesn’t send a message to the entire roster that no one person is bigger than the team. Part of drafting character guys is they are mature and intelligent enough to know that they don’t have to be the highest paid player at their position to be financially set for life and in a good culture/situation. If we misjudged one or more of them, then best of luck to them in getting as much $ as they can. Beane won’t low ball anyone but he won’t pay a premium either. I like that philosophy.

I think Cooper and Von will be unleashed in the playoffs and they’ve purposely been kept under wraps during the season (plus Coop got injured as soon as he got here). Both Von and Cooper have been playing a very small number of snaps this season considering their pedigree. I’m not buying the “Cooper is drawing all the attention” argument because he’s just not out there all that much. In the playoffs I expect McD to give his best players the majority of snaps since their snaps have been managed throughout the season so they are fresh for the playoffs. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Coop takes a team friendly deal to stay here. He’s a 10 year vet, he’s made bajillions since he’s entered the league. The guy is a very cerebral player, he’s not chasing the money anymore he doesn’t have to. Maybe it’s my Buffalo homerism but I think we’ve grown on him and he’s going to want to spend a couple more years with us and chase a ring. Von is playing the best he’s played since his injury. He’s ready to explode and hopefully that will happen in the playoffs. Groot has been playing very good as well. I expect them both to get 70% of the snaps during playoff games.

If the D-line comes to play, and we can improve that horrific 3rd down defense even a little, I think the D can do enough to give us a chance to win every game. My concern is if the offense starts slow or has an off game, we will be dependent on turnovers to keep us in it and that’s just so highly variable.

I think the plan is a fair amount of 3 LB sets against teams that run well. I think Tauron is slowing down a little bit, still an awesome player, but I don’t think he needs to be on the field 100% of the time anymore. This was Milano’s best game so far but you can’t coach speed and he looks sloooow. I don’t think that’s game shape, I think it’s a busted tibial plateau and age catching up to him. I think he can still be very effective and expect McD to start him in the playoffs but All Pro Milano is a thing of the past.

It’s interesting that Josh’s TD to Cooper was the longest of the season in air yards. The last 2 games I’ve been a little concerned about Josh big play hunting. He’s holding the ball longer and going off script more. IDK if that’s because guy’s aren’t open or he’s reverting to some less-than-efficient habits. I’m obviously nit picking but I think our success in the playoffs is dependent on a very efficient offense because I’m not convinced our D-line will be up to the task.

That game was in Miami. It was the Miami visiting teams locker room

Out of the what, 7K members of this board, I think you are the only one who took that comment seriously. So yes, just you. -

This whole conversation is kind of funny because Terry put McD in his will and made him executor of his estate. He’s going nowhere anytime soon. -
12/29/24 GAMEDAY Week 17 Bills vs Jets Post Game Thread
RunTheBall replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
That was a very satisfying beat down to watch. Getting the W was all that matters but it helps us BBFS sufferers when it’s a convincing win going into the playoffs. I liked that Coleman got that TD, think he needed that mentally. Mack Hollins is a treasure. Shakir has been meh last few games, not sure if defenses are keying on him. This is the second game in a row Josh hasn’t been throwing much within the structure of the O. He’s big play hunting and that concerns me. Idk if that’s because the Jets were covering our guys really well but I think the offense is much more efficient when Josh is playing more in structure and getting the ball out quicker while saving the Super Josh plays for a few times a game. Still think Williams needs to be in there instead of Milano in the playoffs. Milano looked like he was running in cement shoes although this was probably his best game back. Groot was awesome, Von has been playing well (I think this is the best we can expect from him), Oliver balled out, Jones kinda sucked. BTW, what happened to Bernard? The guy has been near invisible. I’m not a film guru and maybe it’s just the absence of splash plays but seems like his impact is much less than last year. Thought the DBs were solid for the most part. Bishop got smoked by a TE but that will happen once in a while, I thought he played solid overall. This bend but don’t break big play dependent defense concerns me for the playoffs. If those TOs dry up, which they might against better teams, Josh is going to have to put up 40 points a game. We go to war with the troops we have though, so we’ll see how that goes.
