There is not going to be an emotional letdown from any NFL team in week 2. You guys are just expressing your own anxiety. Besides the fact that you’ve got a much more mature and dialed in Josh Allen who’s found that balance of not too high/not too low. I don’t care what history shows, if we don’t turn the ball over it will be a comfortable Bills victory. A couple turnovers will keep it close for the Jets and even then we probably still win.

Lamar got absolutely destroyed by Ed Oliver on the 3rd down pass. He was in no condition to run that 4th down play because he needed a couple minutes to recover. I think they go for it if Lamar had his full faculties about him and his limbs were moving correctly. Big Ed wiped him the F out. Love to see it.

Game week thread - Ravens at Bills SNF
RunTheBall replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
The first game is always such a crap shoot. I’ll worry about the injuries once we see the inactive list on Sunday night. The Bills will hold back anyone with even a minor soreness out of practice so we really have no idea how significant the recent ones are. If they are missing Richard and Likely thats 2 guys who usually destroy us and should give our D some breathing room especially if the revamped D line shows up. That’s the key right there - keep the LB’s clean to make tackles and contain rush Lamar. -
Gabe Davis signing with the Bills (going to practice squad)
RunTheBall replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall
The guy is like WR #7 on the practice squad. How can anyone have a problem with this? Jax is paying his ridiculous over priced salary. He’s only getting called up because of injury and we could do worse. Josh is much more mature, he’s not going to force the ball to Gabe and get pick-a-palooza again. All McBeane did trying to make a #3 at best WR into a #2 WR was get Gabe a hilarious payday and then he got cut in after 1 year. I have no problem having him in reserve if WR #1-4 get hurt all at once. -
Game week thread - Ravens at Bills SNF
RunTheBall replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
I see BBFS is in full swing 5 days before the opener. What else is new? The first game of the season is a crap shoot and in no way indicative of what the team will be at the end of the season. Win or lose, if we meet again in the playoffs this game will have zero impact on that result. Both teams will be very different. We didn’t win the divisional because of luck. We won because we were the better team that night. Henry only ran for 84 yards and Lamar was playoff Lamar. He didn’t just turn into a sucky QB, McD’s defense rattled him a bit and he made mistakes. We’ve improved on the D-line, Milano is looking like All Pro Milano (if he doesn’t bruise his vagine) Benford is ascending into an elite corner, Bernard is actually healthy. White for Douglas is a wash. Rapp is back, I think Bishop is an upgrade over Hamlin but we won’t see the fruit of that until 6 games are played. Stop worrying about Ravens fans. They are so vocal because they know Lamar is propped up by everyone around him and there’s nothing wrong with that. Josh by far elevates those around him better than Lamar. Will that be enough? Who knows. We will find out Sunday. Go Bills! -
This is a bizarre signing to me if it’s for the active roster. It’s obvious for pure ST but who do you cut to make room? Lewis is great on ST and McD loves him. Same with Ingram. I don’t understand what offset language in his Broncos contract would put us on the hook for 1.3 million. Once he’s cut isn’t that contract void except for the Broncos guaranteeing money?

Bills Initial Roster - No real surprises
RunTheBall replied to GASabresIUFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
No surprises here. Grable really concerns me - he’s taking a loooong time to come back from a dome ringer and that’s concerning for the future. I like that the Bills are taking all the time he needs since he was projected to be the swing tackle and Van Demark looked meh at best. Hawes was always a roster lock, he’s looked great since day 1 in his TE3 roll. He will take reps from Anderson and I think they are hoping he will develop enough to take Knox’s place I still think Carter is barely on the roster. They are trying to play him out of position at 1-tech and he was pretty bad at even 3 tech Great to see Shavers make the 53. He earned it, the entire team saw that, and Bean would look like a hypocrite if he cut him. Until one of the rookies looks good enough to replace Ingram/Lewis, they are safe. Didn’t happen in camp, might not happen during the season. -
This is a great move. First of all, Phillips was one of the only guys who showed up on defense against KC in the Championship game. That alone should give everyone the warm fuzzies because NONE of our guys on D tend to show up in the big game. This has everything to do with Carter, he’s gone, and no one else. Jordan is keeping the seat warm until Larry O is ready to come back. Walker and Sanders look good but they are rookies and you need more veterans than just Jones and Oliver early in the season while the rooks get up to speed. Once Larry is ready to come back they will reassess and unless Jordan is lighting it up he will go to the PS. Idk why everyone has sand in their vaginas. I’d rather have Philips than Carter. That’s another Beane bust. He’s a 3-tech and they are trying to make him into a 1-tech. Never gonna happen. Hopefully we get a late round draft pick instead of just cutting him. Stop bashing Trey White. The man has a roster spot as long as he has a heart beat as far as I’m concerned. Is that good roster building?? F-no. I don’t care. He will be ready week 1 (unless we get a vet corner then it’s worse than I think) and will hold the fort down the first half of the season until Max is ready to roll. I firmly believe Trey is going to make some plays for us this year and host the Lombardi at the next Trey White Goalie Academy function.
-
McBeane aren’t cutting Samuel or Moore. That leaves maybe one spot for Shavers. I don’t think the kid could have done any more to prove he belongs on the 53 but he may be a casualty of CB injuries like a previous poster said. He better get in the training room and massage Tre’s “lower extremity injury” day and night to improve his chances of sticking
-
I’m kinda shocked so many of you still put any stock whatsoever in a pre season game If we beat them by the same score instead of getting whooped, I’d feel the exact same way as I do now about the team. I don’t start drawing any conclusions or start trying to predict the future until I see them play 3-4 regular season games

I watch a lot of UB football. I went there for grad school and my dad has always been a big booster (love coming home to free, close parking and box seats haha). I digress. Dolan is a better LB than Buffalo Joe but not by much. He’s better in coverage, where I think Buffalo Joe is a little more instinctive in run fits. Buffalo Joe, Dolan, and Jimmy Cialo (?) are the same type of player. You can only have so many of these guys on your team. There’s a reason he went undrafted just like Joe and Jimmy. I hope he does great in Dallas. I wouldn’t have had a problem throwing a 7th round pick on him but the only reason you are hearing so much about it is the content bros are all up in arms because they wanted the story and narrative. I love Pat Moran but that guy has his head so far up Dolacs ass when Dolac burps it sounds like Pat’s voice. Nate Geary has also been on that rant but no one takes that clown seriously. Maybe he sticks, maybe he doesn’t, but back up linebackers who play special teams are a dime a dozen.

Andre showed up in the playoffs. Diggs disappeared. Andre is a HOF Wr, Diggs won’t get close. There’s not really an argument here.
-
I want to preface this by saying I love Diggs, I appreciate what he did for us, and I’m pissed he let his ego get in the way of what could have been a lifelong legacy as one of the best WRs in Buffalo. His name would have been on the Wall of Fame. He was the perfect WR at the right time for Josh to reach his potential. I don’t think for a second that Jefferson would have had the same impact on Josh’s development that Diggs had. Unfortunately, his window was short and he valued individual stats over team success and couldn’t handle the transition to Josh being the face of the franchise. He wasn’t willing to accept a smaller role as his skills diminished and forced himself off the team and hasn’t done jack sht since. If he would have bought into McD’s mantra that it’s the team before the individual, he’d have gone down as one of the greatest WRs in Bills history. Anyone who tries to compare him to Andre Reed needs to seek mental help. Andre is a Hall of Fame WR, Diggs will never get consideration. Anyone who watched Eric Moulds and isn’t just looking at stats knows he was a significantly better WR than Diggs, although a different type of WR. Teams schemed to take Andre away in the playoffs, he still made plays. Diggs fell short. Sneed ERASED him in the playoffs one on one. That’s not an elite WR. Diggs is just another of a long line of WRs who had a good few year stint then drifted off into obscurity. He could have cemented himself as a Buffalo legend but he chose to be a btch, force his way off the team, blow his ACL and now play for the Pats*.
-
Andre Reed is a Hall of Fame Wr. Diggs won’t sniff the Hall of Fame. So while your stats are nice, and you put he disclaimer of “different era of football” (which it was, and he had to share the targets with a HOF RB in Thurman) Diggs couldn’t sniff the jock of Andre.

Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season Game 2
RunTheBall replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Perfect game for McD. Completely meaningless in terms of the score, but he gets to evaluate guys individually. He also gets to re-focus the team with a little pre-season wake up call. I expect a great week of practice, especially from the marginal guys fighting to make the team. Bishop is a concern but again, he hasn’t practiced in weeks so let’s see where he is after a full week of practice. I do not want to see Hamlin start again. I think Justin Simmons is still out there. -
Switch the rounds Elam and Benford were taken in and I think your perspective will change. McD is a DB whisperer. Besides Tre at the end of the first round, he turned Hyde/Poyer into pro bowl safeties, took Benford and developed him into a solid #1 CB. He made serviceable CBs out of Dane Jackson and Levi Wallace. He developed Cam Lewis into a solid contributory player. Hell, he took a completely unathletic Hamlin and turned him into a starting safety (certainly uprgradeable) I think the body of evidence is that Elam just didn't’ get it here for whatever reason. It isn’t a lack of coaching skill thats for sure. Some guys just need a different environment.

Cook signed👀 - 4 / 48 / 30 mil guaranteed
RunTheBall replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
After the Williams deal it was just a matter of time before this got done. 12 mil AAV with 30 guaranteed is fair to both parties. Cook may not be valued that high by other teams but as important as he is to our offense, an extra million a year is peanuts considering how much the cap goes up every year. -
Do the Bills Even Have a Hated Division Rival?
RunTheBall replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall
How can this be any team other than Miami? I don’t care if they are 2-16, I hate that team more than I ever hated Brady (who owned us) because they are the anti-Buffalo. South Beach, warm weather, bling, SOFT PLAYERS, and a completely delusional fan base who doesn’t bother to show up to their games. Hard Rock putting AFC East Champs on their hotel before the game was even played. There was nothing better for a regular season than being 3 games down with 6 to play and then ripping their pathetic hearts out in Miami to win the Divison. HAHAHA Fk Miami! As for KC, we just get out coached and out played every time in the playoffs. That’s not on them, it’s on us so hard to be pissed at them. Yeah, they get every call their way but we’ve been fighting that battle against almost every team for 2 decades so we know that going in. I blame McD’s defense first but the reality is, Josh has had opportunities to win 2 KC games in the 4th quarter and didn’t get it done. Yeah, Diggs and Kincaid dropped balls but there were plenty of plays before that that could have been run better. I do think he got screwed on spots last season though. -
Preseason Week 1 Giants at Bills - Game thread
RunTheBall replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Tasker kinda sucks but I don’t care, I love that guy. For all he did for us he can mash marbles in his mouth as much as they will let him, all the more power to him. Kinda like when we first signed Tre back and everyone was like “He’s WASHED” and I said I don’t give a sht if the man is on one leg I’d make a roster spot for him. Not the smartest way to field a team but I like being able to root for guys who I love and think represent Buffalo. Just so happens Tre isn’t washed and will be a solid #2 until Hairston is ready. Steve can smoke stogies and screw up analysis for the next 10 years, I don’t care. -
Preseason Week 1 Giants at Bills - Game thread
RunTheBall replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
It’s just one pre season game so my pronouncement may have been a little premature I based that on the horrendous angle he took on the Giants receiver who had huge YAC because Hamlin took the wrong angle and then got blown by. When Dane Jackson got torched on the TD, Damar looked like he had cement in his shoes as he jogged to the sideline watching that sweet TD toss by Dart. IDK what his responsibility was on that play but he wasn’t close to providing help. He did have some good run fits though -
Preseason Week 1 Giants at Bills - Game thread
RunTheBall replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
I only look at individuals during pre season. I don’t care about the score. 1) James is getting paid 2) Walker is the real deal and will get significant playing time this season 3) Tre White was making business decisions out there 4) Tauron Johnson was not (dumb) 5) Shavers made the team 6) Jackson is a project, I’m glad he made that stupid Offside in the pre season 7) Sanders had some plays, showed some potential 8-Bosa is a beast still if he can stay healthy 9) I love the way Frank Gore Jr runs the football 10) Davidson didn’t help himself 11) Buffalo Joe is backup MLB. He’s everything McD loves in an undersized LB 12) Mitch / White doesn’t matter. If Josh is out for any length of time we are done 13) Ty Johnson with the 3rd team outplayed Davis with the 1st 14) Damar Hamlin is horrible, he’s slower than last year if thats even possible. He should not be on the team -
I’d offer Cook a touch above the Williams deal and if he balks, run him into the ground this year. All the leverage is with Beane and the Bills. If Cook holds out, he loses money and doesn’t show what he can do on the field again. If he wants to risk playing this year without an extension then give him 75% of the snaps. If he balls out, good for him. We always hav the franchise tag but I doubt Beane would ever use it on a RB because of the hard cap implications.
-
Cook is going to sign. The Williams contract just set the market for non-Henry/Barkley/Early CMC running back contracts. It’s 11 mil/yr AAV. I’d guess Beane will accept a little more than that to get the deal signed and continue to send the message that Buffalo drafts and retains it’s own (unless you suck like Edmunds, ha!). It won’t be more than 12 mil/yr.
-
Cook will sign for an 11.5-12 mil/yr AAV for 3 years. This is all posturing

Tua is a good dude and a good QB. He’s not a very good or great QB. He does not elevate the play of those around him which great QB’s (Josh, Mahomes) do. It’s well known what his limitations are - off script plays, throwing deep outside the numbers, so good teams take away his first read and clog the middle. It’s not that complicated, and a lot of teams don’t have the talent to do that. If McDaniel stuck to the run a lot more and Miami invested in their O-line instead of paying bajillions to wide outs and washed up CBs they’d be a better team. McDaniel can’t help himself with the play calling and their GM is an outright disaster and must have pics of Roth with a goat because there is no reason for him to still be employed.
