  1. Idk wtf Brady was thinking. Instead of attacking NE weaknesses, he lined up and said “This is what we are doing, try and stop it” and NE did. Just awful gameplan all around. It doesn’t take a Film Bro to see Pats* weakness was coverage LB and safeties, yet except for Kincaid we didnt attack the middle constantly. Instead, he kept trying to win against solid man corners with WRs who’ve proven they can’t beat solid man coverage. Just ridiculous. There should have been a ton of screens/wheels/slants to RBs out of the backfield when we forced in them into heavy personel. Instead, we ran like 80% of the time. The tendency to run from under center and throw from shotgun was egregious and arrogant. He also got away from the run game way too quick. NE had a good scheme to stop what we like to do, but instead of trying a different scheme he just gave up.
  2. Burrow isn’t coming back. He ripped the tendon off the bone of his big toe. That toe is kind of important for balance and pushing off. And if they rush him back, he will be gimping around behind the sieve offensive line and probably get re-injured. He’s Glass Joe for a reason.
  3. We have too many guys in the secondary who are washed. Tre is done, Johnson is a shell of his former self so far, Benford is underperforming, Rapp is god awful, guy has no feel or spacial awareness. At the snap he basically makes a b-line to the tunnel to make sure everything is in front of him. Bishop is the only one starting to round into form and thats not saying much. The whole D is underperforming. Maybe when Oliver comes back, the PED guys show, and now that Groot has shown up, and Walker is looking better each week, we will start to improve in the second half of the season. But something has to change. This is not a Super Bowl caliber defense at this point. Not even close. Lots of football to play though.
  4. And the fact that Brady not only gave up on the run, but didn’t throw more than 1 pass to James out of the backfield (2 high killer) is coaching malpractice.
  5. I’d like Josh to get over his Diggs hang up. He was pressing last night and making stupid decisions. He was directly responsible for 17-21 points not going on the board for us. 1) A very easy read to give Ty Johnson the ball on the read option for a likely TD. He pre determined he was keeping the ball himself. 2) Bailed out of a huge clean pocket for no reason and missed a WIDE OPEN Samuel downfield for an easy TD 3) That interception was a horrific decision and I got the feeling he was fed up and was going to rip one in there. Was Josh the main problem? Nope. Turnovers and offensive penalties were the main issue. Even with Josh’s bad decisions we’d have won easily without the TOs and constant penalties. I see too many defects with this defense to think we are going to be Super Bowl bound. I stated in an earlier thread I’d wait until the reinforcements showed up, and I’m still trying to cling to that, but it’s tough. 1) At least Groot made an appearance for once 2) Rapp is horrible, slow, and a liability 3) Milano is good but made of glass 4) Thompson needs to start 5) Tre is washed 6) Johnson looks washed 7) DTs suck until Ed comes back, Jones was ok. Those are too many issues to fix in one season. I hope I’m wrong, maybe this was just that stinker game we play every year and they are going to get much better as the season progresses. They did have a solid pass rush in the first half but the second half that evaporated and Maye just shredded the D constantly rolling to his right.
  6. Milano being active is huge, NE throw a lot to their RBs and he’s our best coverage LB. Looking forward to getting a look at Jackson. Gonna see a lot of zone nickel tonight as Maye likes to run but we don’t need to spy. McBabich should be able to confuse Maye, so just be reasonable against the run, don’t turn it over, and we win. Go Bills!
  7. New England is awful against the pass especially in their base personnel. I expect a LOT of heavy sets with multiple TEs/RBs. Since the spine of their defense is the weak point (LBs suck and safeties are meh), passing out of heavy personnel while attacking the middle of the field is the way to beat them. I don’t think you waste a coverage guy to spy Maye. I expect a lot of Tampa 2 like coverages with eyes in the backfield, keeping everything in front, and Bernard can crash down from the middle of the field if Maye looks like he’s taking off. I loved the rush package Spags used against Lamar, rushing 4 but one guy held back at the line to mirror Lamar. Unfortunately, our pass rush has been so anemic that I don’t think we could get away with it unless Groot decides to show up for a game.
  8. This is a joke. We will boat race the Pats*. We are 4 games in and have played like ass for most of them while putting up 31 as an after thought. This is Baby Goat all over again when Mac Jones had 1 good year and NE fans were fitting him with a gold jacket. Has PatsFanNH even been around the last 4 years? Maybe he has. Hard to hear him above the deafening silence of the biggest band wagon fans in sports history. I live in NE. There’s been ZERO talk about the Hartford err NE Patriots* for 5 years now. GO SOX! Go Bruins! Bandwagoners. Maye has potential. We will see. Pats* fans have been desperate since both Brady and Gronk gave up on that team, city, and fans and NOPED the F out of there because of they couldn’t stand to be there anymore. Can’t wait to see what Diggs pulls after his usual honeymoon is over. Vrabel is a douche bag and perfect for that team. I don’t expect an easy out as divisional games are always tough but it’s laugh out loud funny to hear Pats* fans talk about an easy schedule when they’ve been the easy schedule for half a decade. Edit: That rant sponsored by Woodford Reserve and 20 years of Pats* PTSD being a Bills fan in New England
  9. WTF was Davis thinking dropping all that weight in the off season without discussing it with the team? He’s done. I don’t expect him to be on the team next year barring some miraculous come back. The guy was the perfect compliment to Cook but obviously wasn’t satisfied with his role and now isn’t getting any snaps. We need a viable RB2 and if it can’t be Johnson I’d waive/trade Davis and bring Frank Gore Jr up for a try. Knox isn’t going anywhere. The team loves him, Josh loves him, Beane loves him. He’s going to get extended at a lower AAV If Simmons were on the block I’d trade half the D-line to get him. I doubt it’s possible but that guy is a game wrecker.
  10. Vrabel only had success against us because he had Henry. I think he’s a good coach, but he doesn’t have a Gold Jacket running back, he’s got fumbling Stevenson. Vrabel is also a colossal dick head, and he’s going to FEED Diggs big time, so we should be prepared for that. Remember their attempt at the Home Run Throw Forward play with the Titans? I hate all things Pats*, I don’t care that they’ve been an afterthought for years. Biggest bandwagon fans in the NFL, you haven’t heard a PEEP from them in 5 years. Now all of a sudden they’ve got a QB with potential and it’s like Baby Goat all over again. I hope we put up a 50 burger on them and run up the score.
  11. He will do the Patrick Mahomes fake limp then take off for 30 yards in a sprint Doesn’t matter what we think about him faking it or not. It’s his teammates opinion that really matters, and there is already some bad juju going on in that locker room.
  12. I maintain it was his horse Panty Snatcher and they are covering for him
  13. Holy crap the BBFS is in FULL EFFECT this year. Drake Meh is still a young QB. Definitely has talent, but he’s not the next coming of Josh. He’s still mistake prone and McBabich should be able to confuse the crap out of him. This will be another classic infuriating McD defensive game plan. Contained rush, stop the run, zone behind it. I’m sure they will switch it up and try and disguise things, just don’t let Drake beat us with his feet. If neither Oliver or Milano are back within 4 games, why didn’t we put them on IR? Besides keeping opposing teams guessing, was there any other reason not to? Unless we there was wishful thinking going on that they’d heal quick but Oliver should have been a no brainer.
  14. The Ravens have some seriously bad mojo going on right now. If they lose to Houston I think the wheels come off that bus. If Lamar is really injured and the team isn’t running interference for him because he quit on them (which he has done before), then his #1 weapon (his agility) is going to be seriously hampered. He’s not a drop back passing QB. They weren’t playing well when everyone was healthy, so I don’t know why people think they can go on a 9-2 run.
  15. I watched a lot of the All-22 and a Mariano’s clips. I have to agree that Van Demark did very well for his 3rd (?) start ever, plus he’s a more natural LT. The sack was more on Josh, he held the ball too long. He gave up a couple pressures but was dominant in the run game. We could do a lot worse for a backup tackle. I was more pissed at the 4th down play call than Van Demark whiffing. He got tripped up by Torrance taking a big step back when he pulled.
  16. I’ll be concerned if the D doesn’t improve after the bye when we have our dinged up starters and PED boys back. What I’m seeing now is 2 rookies on the D-line, confusion in the back 7, and horrific tackling. All of that is correctable. Babitch isn’t going anywhere this season. At worst, McD will take over the play calling but never admit it.
  17. What’s infuriating is the same problems we’ve had for years on defense seem to be worse. I know it’s early and we’ve got a lot of reinforcements coming, but we are weak on the fundamentals. I think the defensive strategy with Drake Maybe has got to be a contained rush, stop Stevenson, and make Maye dink and dunk again and again. He’s got a lot of potential but some guys are talking like he’s already in the Top 10 which is ridiculous. McBabitch should be able to confuse him pre snap if our D actually knows where the hell to line up. Just make the damn tackles, don’t let Maye burn is with his legs, and we should be fine.
  18. The guys just have to tackle. So many times guys are in the correct position and just whiff. the D-line isn’t getting as washed as it was against the Ravens. Bosa needs to set the edge better though. The LBs, Tauron, and the safeties are missing tackles and/or taking bad angles. Dorian Williams will be replaced by Shaq Thompson if Glass Milano can’t go. Williams was abysmal in the Saints game. Year 3 (?) and the guy still bites on every play action, gets fooled by every misdirection, and makes Klein look like a healthy Milano when he has to cover in space.
  19. You guys are right. It was 18 and 101. For some reason I thought it was a second. I’d still give up a 2nd for him but since there is no chance of that happening its easy to say.
  20. Zero percent chance he leaves Philly. I can’t believe we didn’t give up a 2nd rounder to get him when the Titans idiotically traded him. I’d give up a second in a heart beat right now. Guy is everything we need in a receiver even at the tail end of his career. Edit: As others have pointed out, it was the 18th and 101st pick, not just a second rounder. My bad
  21. Ravens aren’t done losing and I don’t give a sht about their defensive injuries. We played friggin KLEIN against Kelce in the playoffs so stop with the BS. I’m a Lamar fan but Lamar absolutely quit on his team and his teammates 100% are going to have an opinion on that. Zero percent chance Josh or Mahomes comes out of the game if they aren’t carried off the field. Ravens are in crisis mode big time. They’ve got 3/4 of a season to figure it out but they are in a huge hole and the L’s aren’t going to stop coming just because they are the Ravens.
  22. What rookie defensive lineman that weren’t top 15 pick are making a difference on their team right now? Real question. I’d like to see more out of these guys as well but we are Super Bowl contenders with a deep roster. I think a lot of us expect way too much from rookies in general.
  23. The only way to deter Buffalo’s running game is by loading the box. Our offensive line is too good, extra tight ends means extra gaps to defend, and then you have to account for the threat of Josh running. Teams have been very reluctant to load the box do because they fear Allen passing. Mature Josh is no longer Sugar High Josh and he’s not forcing the issue when the looks aren’t there. When teams start committing more players to the box, I hope and expect our intermediate / deep passing game will make an appearance.
  24. McD has had this game circled from the beginning because he gets to tell Babitch to run his soft zone all game. This will be classic McD “keep everything in front of you” and make Rattler march the field. They’ve got a lot of speed in the WR group so we are going to stop the pass first, probably make an aging Kamara look like he’s in his prime, frustrate the hell out of all of us then win by 2 scores in the end. It will be interesting to see what the Saints do on defense. I’m sure Brady will want to establish the run and just do the usual. I’d love for the Saints to go all out to stop the run so we can see what we’ve got with the intermediate/deep passing game. Brady/Josh won’t test that unless the looks are favorable and we are still seeing a ton of 2 high shells.
