  1. For those who hate the announcers, if you have 5.1 audio try this: turn off the center channel! You may need to also turn down the bass/subwoofer to get rid of the 'muffled' voice sounds, and turn the overall volume up. I've been doing this for years now, it has been a revelation. You get ALL of the sounds of the game, and can even pick out individual voices from the crowd. The World Series sounded *spectacular* it was just like I was at the game. Commercials will be weird - some sounds will be silent while others blare but it's a small price to pay in my opinion for a much closer to being at the game experience. Hope others find this useful as well.
  2. I said going in any way we come out with a W from this place I'll take it, no excuses necessary
  3. they did a great job designing this game cause we used to beat the living daylight out of those buttons and I don't remember it ever being broken
  4. this game drove me nuts. his hand is right on the windowsill so why won't he grab it?? i'll throw these into the conversation: spy hunter pole position, the one where you sat in it discs of tron pengo enduro racer outrun double dragon ikari warriors elevator action I could go on and on.. probably could have put myself through college if I saved all the quarters I dumped into the machines at JNC on transit
  5. Not to mention there's supervolcanoes all over the world (VEI index of 7+) with no guarantee Yellowstone would be next. It would seem likely that there are some yet undiscovered. Campi Flegrei in Italy appears to be on a front burner.

  7. How many years are we going to piss away a great defense because we can't even manage to field a mediocre offense
  8. Many of my friends did not grow up as a Bills fan like I did. Thanks in large part to the great experiences we've had over the years with the awesome folks that tailgate at Hammers Lot, they are all diehards now! Thanks so much for providing us with such an amazing place to party before and even after the game. You and the Red Pinto crew represent the best spirit of Western New York. -Craig
  9. It rained and hailed at this show so hard the stairways turned into waterfalls, and the air smelled of pine from the hailstones ripping small branches off the evergreen trees. Didn't regret staying one bit despite being soaked down to my drawers - very few bands can roll out the hits one-after-another like they do; one note in and you instantly recognize the tune.
  10. 2 General, please - thanks Hammer as always. eta 8am
  11. No, when totality happens it is an extraordinary event. The sun's corona very suddenly becomes visible around the darkest moon you have ever seen. There are sunset colors 360 degrees around you on every horizon, bright stars and planets become visible, and the temperature drops like a stone. It is a scene straight out of 1950's science fiction, and you want an unobstructed view. I hope everyone on this board gets to experience it
  12. Cloud cover is what you really want to research. Here's a good site for reference: https://weatherspark.com/y/20372/Average-Weather-in-Buffalo-New-York-United-States It doesn't look promising though, and even in southern Texas it's around a 50-50 shot.
  13. 11 hours driving back from Glendo Wyoming - if I close my eyes I can still see brake lights But it was worth every bit of the hassle
  14. that guy making the tackle around 2:00 looks like he got knocked out
  15. ugh that 3rd down train whistle is by far the worst part of the stadium experience
  16. Was having a conversation with someone here in Colorado on this subject when he asked where I was from. Explained to him: No no, Buffalo is on the other side of the state from NYC - miles of fields and farmlands in between, etc. After pondering this for a moment, what was his reply to me? "Boy that must be a hell of a commute!"
  17. please fix the spelling in the thread title
  18. Gates BBQ has always been my favorite - but you also can't go wrong with Arthur Bryants, Smokehouse, Jack Stack, etc etc. Ask locals if you can, lots of hole-in-the-wall places you won't find otherwise (similar to pizza and wings in WNY). "The Plaza" is kind of a ritzy part of town but worth a visit. I enjoyed both the Jazz Museum and the Negro Baseball League Hall of Fame which are adjacent to each other in the historic 18th and Vine district. I haven't been to Union Station since they remodeled and built a science museum there, but it looks like there is some fun stuff to do there now. Have a good time, hope it isn't too hot when you're there.
  19. Awesome, than you so much PRBills! That is exactly the place I was thinking of. The building (house actually now that I look at it!) still exists per google earth, but it's not clear if it's still open as a store. Tried calling the phone number listed on the FB link but got a 'no longer in service' message: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Zoundz-2001/209777372365784 Also found this web site with info that it was open as recently as 2014: https://www.jigidi.com/jigsaw-puzzle/AE36T6V6/Zoundz-2001 If anyone here happens to go by, please let me know - I would definitely make a trip back there on my next visit back to WNY
  20. No idea. I remember there weren't any other retail establishments nearby. It was in a bad area of town, mostly industrial. It was actually one of the last places you would think you would find a record shop. I'm starting to think even the landmark status didn't even save this place lol. The outside of it looked like it was a homeless shelter, so it probably didn't survive, but the landmark status I remember reading about in the paper (probably courier express back then) gave me hope it might still be there.
  21. Bumping this once, to see if anyone can tell me the name of that Niagara Falls record store. Been racking my brain all weekend...
  22. This totally reminded me of making trips to "Home of the Hits" to stock up on vinyl back in the day. Wondering now if someone can tell me the name of an old record shop in Niagara Falls, NY - it was in a large, dilapidated building in the industrial part of town when I visited sometime back around 1990 - literally rain water was leaking on to their merchandise. But if I recall correctly, they had achieved landmark status despite the local residents objections and it couldn't be torn down. I remember the outside of the building being covered with haphazardly nailed colorful wooden boards. But I can't remember the name of this place to save my life - maybe someone can help me out and tell me if it's still standing.
  23. thread title needs a name spelling fix nashville d was amazing this year, he deserves a shot at the big chair and no better place than back in Buffalo. Wow-ee is back!
  24. Tickets went on sale this morning. I found the web site to be virtually useless as it offered the same extreme-stage-right or left tickets over and over. We only got the tickets we wanted when one of us called the box office and waited on hold about 40 minutes, but at least they allowed us to choose our section. Good luck, hope to see lots of Bills fans there - and we'll be at Hammers the following morning bright and early.
