  1. Until Elvis, Buffalo Bill was the most famous American in the world, including presidents. He never labeled his Wild West performances as shows, as he tried to provide re-enactments of real-life in the American west. The fastest way to spot fake memorabilia is to find the word 'show' on the item.
  2. If I squint, (or use binos) I can see the flag flying over his gravesite
  3. I believe his proper 21st century response would be "just sayin" because that obviously clears everything up
  4. it's been hockey season for a while now.. RJ doing okay.. still things to be thankful for
  5. feel like they gave up on this season when we lost our 2 best offensive linemen and did virtually nothing to replace them
  6. I had a really rare opportunity to meet Roger Waters after a show in '99 (usually he splits immediately in a black dark van with motorcycle cavalcade like some sort of head of state). While standing in line, it became apparent we'd only get a quick moment with him. So I made a judgement call to shake his hand instead of getting the autograph. It actually made for an awkward moment, with him holding a marker waiting for something to sign and me dangling my hand out in the wind instead. When he looked at me, I said "thank you Roger" and he gave me a really quick handshake (learned later he's a bit of a germaphobe). Being able to tell people (and you now) that I shook the hand that wrote The Wall is better than an autograph to me so I've never regretted it. Can you tell I'm a huge PF fan ??
  7. How can his content be "annoying" when you're the one who clicked play on it? Just askin...
  8. I've never bought into either of these other myths. Chef Paul Kirk (aka 'the baron of barbecue') taught me long ago that smoke is accepted by most meats at a pretty low temperature which is why it's so important to have the wood chunks in the coals early in the process. After the meat reaches a certain temperature (which varies of course) the pores close and become pretty impermeable to smoke.
  9. I couldn't disagree more. One year we were in a rush and we could only marinate overnight. Everyone noticed the difference. They used chicken breasts which we do not, partly because they are too thick but also more expensive and I find dark meat has better flavor anyway. We pull the skin back on the thighs, which allows the marinade to not have to penetrate the skin to get to the meat.
  10. Interesting, I had not considered it from this angle. Of course I notice that it turns pale during the process. But from experience I can tell you that 4 hours is not nearly enough. Overnight is not enough either. Sure there will be flavor but it does not reach the bone. For a Sunday tailgate, I will start the process on Friday night and over the course of the weekend I will rotate the pieces a few times to ensure even coverage. Bone-in chicken thighs are my usual choice because they are cheap and have that wonderful chicken skin that crisps to perfection when grilled right. No one reaches for any sauce, and at the end there is just a pile of bones - an indication of success in my book. I do not notice any discernible change in texture, so if there is I would say it is negligible. If there is any actual health hazard involved in marinating meat this long I'd be curious to know about it, if only to conscientiously ignore it like I do with most other such things at our tailgates
  11. chiavettas marinated chicken (for at least 2 days) is our group's favorite. that crispy skin glglglglghh
  12. Any idea what prompted this? Aaron Williams‏Verified account @ajwilliams23 FollowingFollowing @ajwilliams23 More Hey, I have a question for the city of buffalo.....Name a player past or present that reps, and supports buffalo harder than me? 13. I don't either. WNY has some of the best chow options anywhere, and Chic-Fil-A is not one of them
  14. watching the game here in Colorado with Andre Reed
  15. There's a app thread for that
  16. Coleco Telstar Arcade and a few years later a Commodore 64 Little did I know I was gaining skills that would lead to a career in IT
  17. Hogan's Alley Championship Volleyball (remember banging the buttons to build up spike power) Xevious Gorf Crystal Castles Super Buster Bros Cruis'n USA Choplifter Hat Trick Gunsmoke Black Tiger
  18. Success for me was playing for a long time for a quarter, as opposed to being dispatched in less than 3 minutes like I know a lot of the games were designed for. (I gave up playing Gauntlet for this reason, all it did was vacuum coins) Off the cuff, these are the arcade games I can remember playing for along time on a single quarter: Ikari Warriors Elevator Action (as long as it was not internally set to Hard) Crazy Climber 1942 Double Dragon Donkey Kong Mr. Do Dig Dug Galaga (another game that varied greatly in difficulty based on settings, in particular shooting speed) Bust-a-move Out Run Konami Super Basketball Golden Axe vs Tennis (Nintendo arcade game) 10 Yard Fight I'm sure I'm missing a million others
  19. No doubt. I had to move my stove to find out they were coming in through a hole in the wall where the electrical cord went. Stuffed it full of steel wool, which is one of the few things the little buggers won't chew through, and haven't seen one in years now. Hantavirus is nothing to mess around with.
  20. Note you will likely have to travel to see David play again.. on his last 'tour' he only played a few USA cities calling it 'an old man tour'. He said something along the lines of 'I'm old now so I need to make my fans come to me' (Rock Gods can do this kind of thing!) Chicago was my closest city so I made a long weekend out of it and had a great time with the concerts and the city sights. PS. tickets for Nick Mason's "Saucerful of Secrets" USA tour are on sale now, the set list is a dream for fans of old PF
  21. Best concert is hard - I saw a lot of Gov't Mule shows in clubs back in the mid to late 90's that were musically as good as anything I've ever seen in Arenas or Stadiums. A David Gilmour show at the Paramount in Oakland in 2006 is near the top of the list - with Rick Wright in the band it was basically a mini Pink Floyd show in a 3000 seat venue. I could not stop smiling for hours after the show. Worst concert is easy - Van Halen in Denver in 2012. Diamond Dave forgot most of the lyrics and laughed about it through the whole show when he wasn't berating the venue staff. I'm convinced the sound guy just said fuggit and spun all the dials to max because it was painfully loud and not in a good way Bucket list - I can honestly say I've seen everyone I have wanted to see and had the opportunity to see. I guess I'd like to see Macca just to say I've seen a Beatle. Concert wish - Definitely Pink Floyd, probably with Syd Barrett but I'd definitely settle for Rog Dave Nick and Rick. Poojer: I live 15 mins from Red Rocks, let me know if you ever need a place to crash before or after a RR show CookieG: you reminded me of a BB King show at Impaxx night club in West Seneca in 1994 - what an amazing experience it was to see the King of the Blues in such a small venue
  22. Probably 2017 ? https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/roger-waters/2017/kfc-yum-center-louisville-ky-53e73751.html No Echoes though - that caught my eye because I don't think he's ever played this song since departing the Floyd (someone please prove me wrong, if it happened I'd be interested to know who sang the vocals)
  23. Ken told me that he sat behind the goal posts at XXV and from his angle the kick "looked good to me!" Canton?
