  1. I agree that the offense is an entirely different problem, but it's undeniable that the defense is no longer in any position to "pick them up" on an off day. Also, its tough to overcome the losses of multiple "essential" defensive players in back-to-back years. The loss of a Milano or a White or a Daquan Jones should be survivable on their own, but combine them, and you have a situation that isn't simply overcome by "next man up" or team defense principles. At the end of the day, the teams with the most talent tend to win out.
  2. It's odd, really. Go back and watch most of his performances from 2020. He was light years ahead of where he is now from a pre-snap (line checks, reads, etc.) processing perspective. IMO, he has slowly gotten sloppier with all of this (his footwork too) over the past 2.5 seasons.
  3. Well, Dorsey likes to have all his receivers run to the same spot on the field. Could be fun to watch DHop and Diggs fight for contested catches between one another.
  4. More proof that running backs are a dime a dozen and their success is almost entirely dependent on system/usage.
  5. Josh is Josh. He's never going to be perfect. All in all, he's been pretty damn good this year outside of the Jets game. Struggles the past three weeks have mostly been first half execution errors, penalties, dropped balls, etc., that sort of thing.
  6. I'm calling a posters only meeting to get on the same page on the following topics: - Is McDermott on the hot seat? Has he "lost the team?" - Is Josh depressed, losing his religion, missing his ex-gf, or just actually reviewing his play/film via the tablet on the sideline? - Is Von "washed?" - Can Cook break a tackle? - Do we have a Bass problem? - Is Gabe Davis a WR2, low end WR1, or really a WR4? - Is Dorsey an idiot? Also, does he have a Cluster B personality disorder? - Should we bring back Taiwan Jones?
  7. Don't worry, guys. Beane has been on the phone all morning with the Carolina front office.
  8. He was tweeting from his toilet and was referring the Reader's Digest he had on hand.
  9. Not a fan of the players only meeting. Usually just a sign of team in crisis, versus any kind of prescription for what ails. Even if he could, he wouldn't be able to call plays on about 1/3 of the field.
  10. I think the majority of it is defenses are playing Allen much more effectively with that spy and it's causing him a lot of indecision with the run/pass options on scramble drills, and actually leading to some of his inaccuracy since he isn't committed with his decision-making.
  11. My sense is that this is a huge weakness in his game that is setting us back, but that's just based on how often we see him stuck in jailbreak situations. I have no clue what, if any checks, he's making at the LOS.
  12. Yes, and that was one of the more positive takeaways from yesterday. Kincaid is so sure handed, he needs to be involved as much as possible. He can be the 2020 Beasley if given the chance. And Shakir and Harty need touches. Defenses aren't allowing us to go over the top, so we need to get the ball into the hands of players that can make something happen after the catch. Gabe ain't it.
  13. I'm almost there with the OP, but we had similar mini-skids in the previous three seasons, and managed to turn it around (okay, 2022 is debatable) and string together a bunch of wins. In some respects, this game played out similarly to the comeback/loss against Tampa in 2021. I think we won our next 5 games after that one. For whatever reason, we seem to have one of these patches every season that includes poor performances against objectively "bad" teams. If Dorsey has half a brain, I think the offense will figure out its problems, and I was encouraged by the increased usage of Kincaid in the passing game. He's a real weapon and needs to supplant Knox in snap count ASAP. My biggest concern is the defensive injuries. We absolutely can not afford to lose Oliver for a prolonged period of time, because he's the last functioning patch in an already leaky dam of an interior line. Bernard is a nice player, but he needs good interior D-line play to be effective.
  14. I think he's looking for answers. You can only "get pissed", so many times. Operating from a place of anger/rage is very draining and loses effectiveness very quickly for your average human.
  15. As others have said, Josh threw a bad pick to get us off on the wrong foot, and the lines were consistently blown up on both sides of the ball by the Pats. Josh was a little more inaccurate than usual, but other than that, he played a good game after the interception. He was running for his life on about 2/3 of his dropbacks, so the fact he managed to conjure up even 25 points was a bit of magic act in itself. Still, despite getting pushed around by the Pats all day, our offense did a hell of a job clawing back and we had the game in our hands with 2:00 remaining. The last defensive possession was one of the saddest I can remember in some time, up there with 13 seconds and other memorable failures over the years. We provided zero resistance to the Pats. It looked like Brady against the worst of our drought era teams. Other thoughts - Bass missed a makeable field goal in the first half and that probably cost us an additional three points later in the game, when our lack of confidence in him led us to go for it on 4th down from around the 32 or 33 yard line instead of attempting the field goal. Knox had another huge drop on that play when he tried to body catch a short pass over the middle from Allen instead of securing it with his hands. Edit: Also wanted to add that, like the Jags and Giants games, our offense started clicking and moved much more easily when we were forced to pick up the pace and play with a sense of urgency. If I'm Dorsey/McD, I'd seriously consider picking up the pace and some no huddle looks earlier in the game to get us in a rhythm. I know our defense is depleted and needs rest and ball control and all that, yadda yadda yadda, but we are losing the TOP battle anyways, since we aren't finding a rhythm and stacking first downs in the first and second quarters.
  16. He looks finished, but no point in hand-wringing over it now. We're stuck with him. Just have to hope against hope that he improves as the season progresses.
  17. It's over, for sure. The offense is basically completely healthy and they've been a bigger problem than the ravaged defense. Hiring Dorsey set us back by two years.
  18. Yes, but your defense has to be able to hold a bad Pats offense to a field goal there. That was just embarrassing
  19. Yeah, that should be shocking, but didn't we all kind of expect it at this point? If we can't provide any resistance against Mac Jones there, can you imagine what the rest of the QBs on our schedule will do to us? Things could get ugly very quickly.
  20. Pats deserved that game. We gave up 365 yards to their previously putrid offense. Kincaid and Cook were bright spots today.
  21. LOL. And those last two plays will probably cost me my fantasy matchup too.
