  1. Every injury is of course serious. Especially when you are a professional athlete dependent on your body's health for your very income. But it would have been far, far worse to suffer an ACL injury especially at this point, so late in the season. And as pointed out already, the fibula is the "non-weight bearing" of the two leg bones. Could have been a whole lot worse. The Bills have been pretty fortunate in avoiding some of these career ending injuries. Knock-on-wood that their luck continues in this regard in the future.
  2. His current stats for this year are: 21 Receptions 184 yards 0 TD's We have to be able to do better for our money... Cut him and sign someone in FA who is healthy and can contribute each week...
  3. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/11/24/another-great-wide-receiver-from-antonio-browns-family/ Yet another example of a player coming from a family of former and current players... Several others come to mind both current and in the past. The Bills currently have one half of the Edmunds Brothers. Chad Beebe (Don Beebe's son) is a current player with the Vikings. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_family_relations_in_American_football The list above is huge...
  4. I notice a lot of fans here are qualifying their remarks about Clay by saying that he is worth keeping around when/if healthy. From what has been said though is that he has a bad knee and at his age and with the wear and tear he has undergone he is "Never" going to be healthy again. Time to cut him after the season and save 4.5 million that can be used to sign his replacement in FA. Croom seems like a promising backup TE who can block and catch. Logan Thomas is also a cheap alternative backup TE who can stay but a new #1 TE should be brought in. There should be several good TE's available in FA. Time to move on...
  5. The "kids" on this team should improve as the season goes along. Edmunds as I recall got off to a slow start too. but has improved from week to week. Teller looks like a player too now. The same should hold true for Allen. I've said it before and will keep saying it. You don't just set the league on fire in your rookie years. It takes time to adjust to the speed of the NFL. You're going up against the best of the best on a weekly basis. It's not the same as college football where you can dominate based on your physical skills alone. It simply takes time. Every rookie is different in how fast the game slows down for them. Making snap judgements on rookies is idiotic. Just sit back, relax and watch for improvement from week to week. This is a transitional season. With another good draft in 2019 and plenty of cap space this team is headed in the right direction. Just sit back everyone and chill!
  6. Obviously, the vast majority of QB's drafted in the later rounds do not make it in the NFL. Even most highly drafted QB's seldom become "Franchise QB's". How many backup QB's can you remember that turned out really well? Other than Brady who is the "outlier" of the bunch, who else comes to mind? As far as Tyrod is concerned, what has he really achieved? He may be a likeable guy but has he really been a successful NFL starting QB? For that matter, how many current NFL starting QB's are really any good? A lot of college QB's as well as other positions can excel in college because they are not going up against "the best of the best" every week like they do in the NFL.
  7. I don't see the Bills finishing lower than LAR... I believe we'll get a top 4-5 pick most likely... I wouldn't mind trading down a few spots and picking up an extra 2nd rd pick... I wouldn't be shocked if they actually traded back/down a couple of times picking up a couple extra 2nd rd picks in the process while ending up drafting between #10-12... Those extra 2nd rd picks could help replenish the talent on this team...
  8. I know of a couple of guys who have had a long running wager on whether the Bills will win a Super Bowl or whether the Sabres will win a Stanley Cup, first. Kind of similar situation... They are both approaching 60 yrs old... I'm not convinced either one will ever live long enough to see either happen...
  9. For the record, I stated last week that the Patriots game was the game to bet $5000 on against the Bills...
  10. Well, you are sorta right in the cases of Richie and Wood. He certainly couldn't have known that Richie would go wacko nor could he have planned Woods sudden need for a medical retirement. But make no mistake. A rebuild was always in the cards. I thought it would have happened the year before but the defense in particular jelled unusually fast thanks to the acquisitions of Hyde, Poyer and EJ Gaines and the drafting of a true shutdown corner in Tre White. I can't remember when we have ever had a better secondary. I know people are upset about how putrid the Bills are this season but you have to give the front office a chance to rebuild the offense in the off season. The top 5 probable draft pick will help a lot. Not to mention the 90 million in cap space to attract FA's. I've watched this team since it's inception in the AFL. I've seen a lot worse...
  11. CONS: Apparent lack of elite length will a point of discussion in NFL circles. At times can be a little too patient, and is susceptible to long arms keeping him from landing his hands. Range in his set points is a bit limited, elite speed/bend guys will really test his ability to get out deep in his sets. Wish he rocked pass rushers with his punch a bit more. Not a true mauler in the run game. Needs to keep working to seal off defenders in zone, not allowing them to free up late in the rep. Might never be a great people mover. Can get out-reached at times, and may need to be a little quicker and more decisive to win first contact. Finishing/intensity is an area of his game that needs to improve. -Jon Ledyard
  12. And then there is the "wonderkind" Sam Darnold who put up a 14/29 153yd 1TD 0Int performance this week. He has played all the games this year for the Jets. They, despite having had something in the neighborhood of 90 million to spend this prior offseason on FA have exactly 1 more victory than the Bills... Guess he sucks too... And let's not forget Tyrod who is riding the bench in Cleveland since after the third game of the season... In an ideal world none of these rookie QB's would be starting yet. But trying to predict what kind of careers any of them will have at this point is simple lunacy.
  13. Let's remember that Mahomes had a year to sit on the bench and learn/adjust to the NFL. Would he have looked as good if this were HIS rookie season? And how bout waiting till the off season when Beane can start building a team around Josh Allen. Let's see what Josh can do with some semblance of a team around him.
  14. Brady was just an example... The "sample period" was players drafted between 2005 to 2014... So anyone drafted before or after would not be reflected in these "stats"... Of course you had to click the link and read through the article to find this information out...
  15. As I remember, Tom Brady was a 6th rd pick in the 2000 NFL draft. How can there then be 0% chance of drafting a "consistent starter" in the 6th rd?? By only going back to the last decade. Kinda selective though isn't it?
  16. Nobody ever thought that Beane would get a 3rd for Tyrod either as I recall...
  17. 5 games into his NFL career with a sheet OL and no WR's and you are writing Allen off. Talk about "Delusional"...
  18. Now that the Raiders have three 1st round picks (currently #4, #10 and #17 as of now) AND This weeks games: Cardinals (1-6) vs 49ers (1-6) Raiders (1-5) vs Colts (2-5) Assuming that Bills (2-5) lose to the Pats as seems likely... Bills could improve to a top 5 projected pick... Would the Raiders cough up picks #10 (via Dallas)and #17 (via Bears) for the Bills #5 pick?? Both these picks would appear to probably be even lower later on in the season. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000969335/article/2019-nfl-draft-order-team-needs-giants-no-1-raiders-load-up
  19. Phila may be getting a bit desperate after losing to Carolina. Smallwood does not appear to be the answer at RB. Let's see what happens this week and perhaps next weekend...
  20. Why do Poyer and Hyde only count for one? I'd say there's 6... Harrison Philips seems to be playing pretty well for a rookie too... Hauschka seems to be a pretty decent kicker as well...
  21. The truth has always been that TT is a decent backup choice on a team with a starter running a similar type of offense and a pretty good defense to carry them. But he will never be worth 15 mill per season to any team.
  22. Starting to? You're a bit late with your concern...
  23. Rosen is now just one more pick six from an NFL record!!
