  1. Still haven’t found in the bama archives where they invented the process?
  2. There’s some consideration to be made that running backs that play a 5 year rookie deal with success tend to see their next 5 years he the downslope so vet contracts rarely guarantee money deep into deals. Between the ease of transition and the short careers it’s a position that wouldn’t bother me for that reason... or at least that framing. I would just be a little bummed about the lack of cap savings for a rookie but not because he’s particularly risky.
  3. It’s a tough spot id appreciate a variation that gives refs some extra discretion on dirty vs impossible to avoid. But giving refs more discretion inevitably leads to more conspiracy theories.
  4. It all depends the amount in each bucket. To simply say both can’t be used is silly
  5. Basically consider it trading: marshon lattimore for tre white sammy and Darby for Matthews and Gaines and cordy to move up to get our qb. And then we still have a full normal draft, and extra cap space to stock the cupboard. It’s not like we are going Ricky Williams style to do this.
  6. Certainly the most polished. Honestly all 4 can succeed if they find the right fit and have some decent luck. the guy that walks into a toxic locker room, gets injured in camp, has his OC fired in September, new head coach and gm next year, etc.... will bust... but generally I think all 4 if put into good spots will stick around at least serviceably. If Rosen doesn’t get any concussions he should be a mid tier guy at worst (think guys like Flacco, dalton, Schaub back in the day) and could be very good.
  7. Also they can talk matchups during the draft then. I know we have opponents already but “see rookie qb square off with Brady week 2” is far more interesting than “they will play Brady sometime this year”
  8. Im not sure if aggressively targeting a free agent is “inheriting” and I’m also not sure drew was projected to be a HOF candidate at that point. Also, I’m sure that pools were that rare. Somewhere upwards of about 25 teams had ties to players that said “so what, everyone does that stuff”
  9. The giants have to sell that they LOVE someone. And preferably someone that would be available a couple picks back. Im sure they don’t mind taking him high but calling him near perfect screams “up those offers”
  10. But they could do lead up and teasers and have papa johns do pizza specials and teams do silly unveiling events for STH... instead they do it by surprise just weird
  11. They also make everything such a spectacle- you’d think they would play this up too
  12. Never understood why not
  13. Yup- it’s cool Evans made it to the nfl but there’s not thaaaaat much to feel good about in this story
  14. I let it slide as it seems a more common skill set after TT than before and he was pretty iconic. That said, I Agree with you again.
  15. Might be a very short sighted move by him. Might end up costing more than he’s fighting to get
  16. To be fair, we don’t know a ton about his locker room leadership here. We project a lot on him based on lack of new stories and being a lunch pail guy.
  17. Or giving him a new contract with any guarantees after this
  18. You said you couldn’t imagine him playing for the bills- all good if a bit of a throwaway comment but I was just asking what aspect was driving that. if he shows up what do they do with those feelings? Cut him and eat the cap hit?
  19. So your no way is no way he shows up
  20. I am pretty sure there are situations where that’s not true (various restricted situations for example to prevent essentially poison pill structure in the offer sheet- huge salary but immediately swap to signing bonus once the team can’t match) but not sure it’s a blanket policy.... it would be to prevent exactly this. Give a guy up front cash and then he plays games. Wouldn’t be effective if you couldn’t renegotiate the deal I’m the same year. ive seen it once upon a time but almost certainly been long enough that it’s a cba or two ago and may be changed since
  21. If he shows up are you cutting him and eating the bonus you gave (and any other guarantees)
  22. Unfortunately the only way to get it back is if he retires he created quite the pickle by signing a deal he didn’t intend to honor
  23. I’ve yet to see Ritchie say he’s giving back the signing bonus he just got if he gets cut... not particularly loyal to take a 7 figure check and then start all this up
  24. You might even say go ahead and fire me instead of signing on at the lower pay for an exclusive rights contract with a very strict non compete clause.
