  1. Let’s not pretend I’m calling you out there for not knowing him. I’m calling you out for playing games about it instead of just being straight with your answer. Saying there are a lot of variables was silly. Without looking I’m guessing I couldn’t tell you much about 28 of last years 7th rounders. I happen to know a bit about this one based on my proximity to LSU and by proxy LSU fans. To double down with your super fan dig is completely ridiculous. In the thread I used the term, it was sticking up for a guy that obviously didn’t come to talk bills football 365 days a year like us so I pointed out we pretty much all consume more bills/draft news than 99% of bills fans. You included. Ill let this go though, and we can continue via PM if needed. No need to further derail with us quibbling now that we are far beyond the player in question.
  2. To be fair, most of my “know it all” attitude was about your conduct and not Dupree. And I was actually right. Chandler gave a very accurate scouting report on the guy. He comes with warts but is talented enough that if he really commits to the game he could be a player down the line. He runs sloppy routes, doesn’t get in and out of breaks well, gets jammed up at the line and doesn’t snag the ball with his hands as well as some... but is a physical specimen. Big, fast. He will have to also become a technician of the game though and has had motivation issues. Most of those warts I listed are correctable but again, will hinge on his dedication. There’s a reason that obj went top half of the first round, Jarvis second round, and Dupree was a 7th rounder that was cut and then sat on a practice squad despite being an elite recruit out of high school. It’s not just scheme, or qb or.... its his play being inconsistent. I’m not claiming to know where he will go but I don’t think sharing where he’s been is being a know it all. Again, it’s ok to say you simply aren’t familiar and seek out video, opinions, etc... before reaching an opinion based on a YouTube fan video, or playing coy with “there are lots of variables” when asked your take on why he fell. Just say you aren’t familiar with him.
  3. Clearly the dad-bod is the superficial attraction in those relationships
  4. I think everyone would’ve moved on if you weren’t insistent on continually and directly calling out what is a perfectly reasonable stance. If you want to crack crack open a beer to celebrate the article, you do you.
  5. Again, they could be 110% truthful. Neither of us has said they are lying. Simply that they were tossed a softball question and you’d get damn near the same answer if you subbed in any of the other 31 owners names (or terry’s). If she starts to grow into leadership roles, or they start to go out of their way to reference specific accomplishments it’ll carry a bunch of weight. But essentially “what do you think of the new business partner” “oh she’s great, brings energy and a fresh perspective” is a bit of a throwaway exchange. Your best friend asking you what you think of his new girlfriend in front of her is about on par. Everyone stays positive, so a vague and assuring “she’s great, it’s been a fun night” doesn’t really have any noteworthy meaning. But if you go way off script and say “oh she seems awful... stupid, and ugly... and I’m pretty sure she slipped her number to the bartender” well, that’s something to dig down on.
  6. I would feel that’s significant. Because it cuts totally across the norms and goes against what they are incentived to say. this is akin to the wife asking “does this make me look fat?” if you answer of “course not, you look great” that could be totally true, or avoiding drama. If you say “yea that looks terrible” it probably means she looks bad. Unless you are know to like to sleep on the couch. its not that hard a conversation to follow. We aren’t knocking her or trying to discredit her, we are just saying it doesn’t say much. Do you really never weigh the persons motivations/incentives/consequences at all in evaluating whether what they say is meaningful?
  7. Because I don’t rate credibility based on if I agree with the statement or if it makes me feel good? again, she could be doing GREAT, but when you ask someone that’s going to say she’s doing great no matter what’s happening then the article isn’t impactful
  8. You could just say I was right. It’s ok to concede you don’t really know the guy instead of some silliness about there being a lot of variables. He came with warts, and someone familiar was giving you good feedback on who he is as a player. It was a good opportunity to learn about him instead of cheerleading
  9. Is too many variables code for “I only watched a highlight video and only argue the positives for most players”? All the things chandler are pointing out are consistent knocks. He’s not a great route runner or technician which limits him. He double clutches or body catches a lot of balls. He could develop- no one is saying he can’t- but it’s a big task he’s likely not a big contributor in the short term even if he’s suddenly become passionate about his craft
  10. There wasn’t much in the way of specifics. She could be great, or they could be playing nice. I dint think anyone here is saying she’s stupid and just eye candy, but we don’t know much about what she’s bringing to the room yet.
  11. Ive got to ask John.... why do you think that he was a 7th rounder, didn’t make his 1st team, and sat on our practice squad? Just his qb?
  12. Thats about the least weird situation I expected coming from you.
  13. Thats not really essentially what it was if we had to use additional picks to get a few of those guys. Listing guys that cost multiple picks obviously skews it towards us. Ultimately, we will see how Mahomes plays
  14. Fair, and why I tried not to delve any deeper than the current content. Didn’t want to spiral tooooo far.
  15. In a vacuum, sure. In the wider context of society (which is where the meme originated) - I’ve yet to see what the acceptable version of protesting looks like, especially for minorities. The goal line seems to change frequently.
  16. Did he add anything new to the story or just rehash the previous tmz interview/police report content?
  17. Luck doesn’t have to be a dirty word. I know the American dream is purely merit based but we all get good and bad breaks and this team worked hard and caught a few breaks. That’s not an insult to them. They got a little lucky- no shame in that.
  18. I’m not arguing any flag code related points. Simply that it’s silly to pretend the status quo wasn’t already political. Though regardless the teeth in the code- if the argument is players must respect the flag but the person espousing that argument doesn’t follow the same codes of respect - it’s a tiny bit hypocritical, no? Not that I think either should be punished but conversationally we can agree it’s a bit of a jerk move to cite it against someone else but not follow it yourself?
  19. Ding ding ding.... those saying tvey they don’t want politics at sporting events so you better stand and sing the anthem are just saying they don’t want anything challenging their own politics at the event. The anthem is inherently very political and totally unnecessary- but they will fight to keep it there.
  20. To be fair, we don’t actually know that. If he’s having a full on split from reality, I’m not sure that being at OTAs would’ve been much better outside of having more medical professionals around (though he had already publicly rebuked the Nflpa mental health guy). Things like this happen to completely ordinary people with completely ordinary families and routines.
  21. Im not saying he could never be good but if he’s starting this year it’s more likely things went horribly wrong. In an ideal world he shows up and plays really well earning him #5.
  22. If Malachi Dupree is a starter for us I’m guessing it more an indictment on the depth chart than compliment to his play.
