The flip side being that if 4 guys go in the top 5 and we don’t get one.... are we better off taking a guy like Rudolph? As a plan b (or maybe c, d or e) - grabbing roquan at 12, trading back from 22 a little to add assets, and going foles late 1, and then having 5 day 2 picks to address WR, OL and a backup RB wouldn’t upset me too much. I’d be disappointed by not getting a top prospect but happier than getting a second tier rookie

I think it’s a little of both sides- yes qb rich but also a little of a frenzy in the speculation. A comparable might even be free agency this year. One of the larger qb classes of recent memory hitting the market and a ton projected at starter money... but as holes start filling sometimes you see a race to grab the last guy or sometimes you get him on the cheap ala aj McCarron. Mason or Lamar might be AJ in this story and go second round instead of top 16

Why Picking Josh Allen Would Be Disasterous

The writer did an ok compiling opinions and benchmarking scores in various systems... but didn’t show a particularly great grasp of any of it himself. the low scores are a red flag no doubt. But if you can identify an issue or two and address it (say poor coaching missed a minor tweak that would considerably change his accuracy, or 1-2 specific throws that they leaned on were among his worst) that can go a long way in throwing the number out. Next up is that analytics or cutting edge data doesn’t have to be JUST on field stats. Cleveland could have their own data set that includes anything from physical attributes (hand size, height) to measurables in drills (velocity, various measures of touch on his throws) to GPA and include some of those advanced stats still. Last - that he scores low could be a huge issue with him.... or the tests. Based on the somewhat limited scope and sample size and ever changing nature of the game... these may have some biases built in. Creating something that explains the past few classes pretty well may build in a measure that accounts for a coincidence. It would look better on paper but maybe not be the best future prediction. Long story short: a handful of stats guys came up with and he scored low along with some busts gives a Little worry to me as a fan... but if any of these were fool proof you could also simply fire the scouting department. -

Appears to be rank, not round. Unless they all conveniently have 1 guy per round -

You can play that card if you want, but it’s definitely more than once you’ve resorted to petty homophobic insults. It doesn’t particularly bother me but it’s pretty lame to pull the “you read other stuff into it” after you’ve explicitly made the comments previously. as for Ritchie- I was skeptical of the signing. In the end it looks like we got most of the good and some of the bad. He was a quality lineman and inconsistent person. Generally we got his best play in his career and least drama. I’ll take the 3 years of play and deal with looking for a guard last minute now. But I’m not benching players out of fear that we don’t have him to protect them. -

Theres a difference between it being easy to fully replace him, and disagreeing that you need to bench your qb because you lost a guard.... we likely won’t gave a guy as good but the best players still play -
I cant see them taking a guy with so little upside at 12. Jackson at least could be special- guys like Rudolph go day 2 regularly

I think we see a little more slide out of the mid tier QBs. After so many free agents and guys off the board - I’d be surprised to see 6 in the first 16. Mason as the 6th qb going top 16 seems a real long shot. I could see 4 top 10, 1 more in the first and then none til mid 2nd possibly as a curveball at the opposite end of this. were starting to see people pencil in A LOT of guys to teams with starters in the first...odds are teams like the ravens, saints, patriots, (dolphins) etc... don’t grab a guy until day two

Its largely my belief, but given his history I hate to completely rule out other options. It’s possible he could’ve actually been acting in a way that makes even less sense though. Hard to assume the logical choice with him. -

It’s hard to keep track of the details of his made up story. notice others in this thread are much more consistent ::cough::jauronimo::cough:: -

Right. And it seemed that he spoke to king first and over the course of this unfolding publicly the story coming from Ritchie’s mouth changed. Im not sure where the disconnect is here.... there are only a few options: 1) docs say he can’t play, and in an emotional state he pitches a fit about how he’d play for more then backs off it when he chills out and realizes the risk. 2) he was upset about the deal, fired his agent and tried to push the bills into the corner and when they didn’t back down he overstated the health concerns to try to save face. 3) the reporters straight up lied about his quotes. Im having a hard time buying that two weeks ago he got the report, decided to (for some reason publicly) fire his agent in advance of retiring, and has been quietly taking a measured approach about when and how to announce it. Given his lack of impulse control long term, his erratic behavior lately and just the generally storyline it seems almost 100% 1 or 2 -

The early versions of the story came with both “at the right price” and “they have til Sunday” attached. It seems like he did not think through that saying that publicly would probably end his career.... im guessing he soon received a “yea, you aren’t getting more money” and that’s when he tweeted he was done. The major points were reported- but that the bills called his bluff and he followed through on the threat is my speculation. It’s possible that docs said he should quit and he just flailed around dramatically and that included some sketchy comments on his part in response to the bad news from the docs -

To be fair- with his erratic behavior he may have not actually fired his agent (sending a nasty tweet doesn’t count)... and even if he did I believe there’s a brief window before you can hire another (cooling off period of sorts) Firing the agent, allegedly saying he’d play at the right price and then saying the bills had til Sunday... leads me to believe he threatened and the bills said “sorry to hear that, let us know if your playing but it’ll be under the contract you just signed” and Ritchie then blew up his health problems. -

Meh. He seemingly gave an ultimatum and then got called on it and pushed the chips in that it was his choice. Not that it matters really... -
Why is Kaelin Clay back on the roster?
NoSaint replied to Foreigner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In a league with nickel as the base defense 110th puts him just outside the top 96... not something to brag on but some perspective that he’s essentially an above average first guy off the bench based on your numbers -
Hypothetical: Browns take QBs at 1 and 4
NoSaint replied to patneiler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It’s obviously not going to happen, and there’s downside beyond the non qb asset you pass on (splitting limited practice reps for instance) but it’s not near as absurd as some are acting.
