  1. And given the low odds for even perfect specimens, being an unknown isn’t thaaaat great a quality for a day 3 guy. A long shot is better than no shot but it’s still an issue
  2. What was his reasoning in this discussion? i suppose there is likely something to be said for a balance. You developed the game plan for a reason and hopefully you didn’t totally blow evaluating your own team or opponents- so I would say look for wrinkles but maybe not totally toss it right out of the gate without a good reason. Essentially trust the process but don’t be stubborn
  3. Has it worked well yet? Tolbert? Big time no KB? Not yet star? Hopefully but it cost a lot more than many expected if kB and star turn out great this year I’d imagine the comments slow down Its a good trio to fight for 1-2 spots. Not the the nicest thing to say but with late cuts any guy that doesn’t make it is likely able to be picked up deep into the season too.
  4. Year 3 was short on carries but about 5 YPC and year 4 was just shy of 1000 yards with 9 tds. hes really come into his own but the saints system can be a tough one for backs to maximize their potential in
  5. It also adds spotlight to your promising guys that may otherwise be practice squad material amd ultimately the number one question: could it help or hurt at qb... and I can’t see any upside even if risk is minimal. Why add any risk though?
  6. My options are support it or boycott the show? of course I’d watch it but that doesn’t mean I think it’s best for the team.
  7. Depends... what metric are you using? Most likely to win a game week 1? Most likely to have a franchise guy long term? We have the most volatile ranking going into the ceiling. It could easily be 32nd, or much higher.
  8. Thinking of starting another new thread on it? Or what are your rousing 4-5 topics du jour?
  9. That kid he picked on in 3rd period English 5 years ago could be exacting revenge. It could’ve been Beane for all we know
  10. Star qb on a rookie deal is obviously ideal, followed by paying the big contract to a guy that is roughly top quarter of the league. after that I think there’s a strong case that if you have $30m/yr and a decent first round pick to invest in your offense you are better off with the rookie qb(5m and 1st), and a star rb ($10m)and wr (15m) conpared to giving a dalton/tannehill type 20+ and having the other two be a decent draft pick and mediocre vet at $5m all napkin math to make a point but even if the qb is junk you probably darn near break even between the scenarios and if he’s good you are an immediate contender
  11. He’s likely the longest shot to be successful but also the best shot to be great. He’s got tools no one else does but has to overcome some major issues.
  12. If hes the 3 down mlb and can’t playcall look for a guy like Hyde to be number 2. Ideally Zo won’t be on the field enough snaps for that job
  13. Ive also said I would be surprised if he was picked in round one by anybody as he’s a completely normal day 2 prospect and after a huge free agency and first round run I’d be shocked if there were enough holes left for teams to go nuts overdrafting a lower upside guy like this
  14. We are going to have dozens of threads about Allen’s footwork. Based on clips where you can’t even see his feet. ”based on the angle of his knee bend you can tell the spacing of his steps is 1/4 inch off when he steps up to the Gatorade jug”
  15. Not only has he questioned his longevity - a backup is likely to see snaps and having a good one may help you win now as opposed to a depth player elsewhere
  16. “I think a few teams rank him highly” is all it takes to put a guy high in a mock. And some teams did. Was there a split among GMs though? Probably. But who knows how widely.
  17. Who is bent out of shape about it? The only times a controversial story really blew up was when the president got involved in the kneeling and the ray rice video. otherwise, it all blows over in about 3 days
  18. These things are rarely the media disaster fans insist they will be.
  19. When you fire a coach that’s often a situation that sees a new gm hired. Scouting staff is a very basic extension of that. Trainers can go either way. Football guys bring in their own football guys. Russ was misconduct.... so we’re talking about a PR guy and some analytics folks? The way it went down was weird with Whaley being fired post-draft but the idea of teams doing complete overhauls isn’t really that strange.
  20. A lot of your list is pretty basic for when a new HC/GM come in
  21. I don’t doubt that- but I think that we should’ve just retained the scouts and hired a new GM in January instead of post free agency and draft it seems dysfunctional to handle it this way if that’s what happened.
  22. To dictate that the GM couldn’t be at initial meetings comes across as an issue right out of the gate. I’ve not been super comfortable with how pegula has handled things - but fingers crossed it’ll work out
