  1. But we dont have those at WR already. At least with a move like this we would have a guy that might show up on Sunday. Currently we have like 1-2 on the WR depth chart that might put in an nfl caliber game any given week.. It’s not like we’d be cutting an actual player to do this.
  2. Im curious where the report is coming from. Seems it hurts everyone involved to leak it, unless some browns coach mouthed off trying to look good over cutting him then found out they were trying to trade him. Maybe Gordon’s agent thinking free agency is the place to be and a bunk rumor helps get him there? Regardless - the league can’t just say enough without a test
  3. Yea- it was a dumb trade to accept his guaranteed dollars and then apparently expect him to immediately flip a switch. You only get Coleman if you are keeping him the year barring him getting worse. If Gordon was high, I’d pass, but if he tweaked a hammy filming a promo shoot and ran a few minutes late on his way to confirming he’d be out... I grant a little more leeway.
  4. Agreed. Though, even as someone good with the move, I’d have a pretty low cap in how high I’d go with the pick I offered.
  5. Yes because we ate more cash cutting him than we would with Gordon. The downside was lower.
  6. We traded for Coleman which was higher risk and lower reward
  7. He’s not playing Sunday, they don’t need the roster spot... good on the browns for trying to trade
  8. That was the whole RFA issue the browns won, unless it’s a different calculation here... you should be correct by best I understand
  9. Thats where I land too. We just need ANYONE that can pressure a defense with Allen’s arm. It’s zero risk at this point.
  10. Because it’s not an acceptable excuse for every roster move
  11. This post aged well. And quickly. amd honestly, I wouldn’t even be upset if they gave him a shot.
  12. He showed up with an injured hamstring. Wouldn’t be shocked if he came late figuring he was hurt anyway (he’s made similar bad assumptions before), or hurt it doing something dumb
  13. Yea, something weird must’ve happened when he showed up with the hammy issue. Strange but we’ll probably at least get Rough details.
  14. Cordy, sure. Tyrod, less essential in this narrative Have you called back on all the times you’ve called people out for being negative? It seems you just plow on to the next player/coach to hype and call fellow posters out on being skeptical of.
  15. Switch the two as rookie o line are slow to develop with limited practice in pads
  16. Should I mention Gaines was actually cheaper? If the goal was to maximize next offseason Gaines actually gave us more financial freedom. So the example could’ve been instead of star and Davis — just keep dareus and Gaines and have like $7m to spend still. Roll that money with coleman, kerley and Newhouse and we are looking at, roughly speaking, $13m to upgrade our OL and WR corp and only looking to replace Newhouse off our existing 53?
  17. Because we created dead cap while shedding talent. Frankly are we better with star and dareus dead money, or dareus for another year and signing a player now? That’s 20m in cap hit at DT. Maybe throw vontaes money and stars money at a good CB and settle for dareus, for instance. Likewise, should we have just signed a $5m a year wr instead of Coleman/kerley? Tyrod and McCarron combine for 10m in dead space but we are blessed with peterman as a backup. Trent Murphy was just a bad signing. We couldve walked into next year generally every bit as able to make moves freely without inflicting so much pain on this year’s 53
  18. Thats what happens when you cut/trade or let every guy from the prior regime walk. We gutted the young core of this team in a way I’ve never seen.
  19. Yea but we couldn’t have just let holmes start and carried one of the non vet cheap WRs to save $1m in cap?
  20. But why not make that choice 8 days ago instead of giving him his full salary for 1 game?
  21. Still... kerley as a vet on week 1 roster gets full pay from us and immediately is cut? Why not roll with one of the cheap young guys at that point? At this point we are paying he and Coleman because of head scratching roster building at the position
  22. Its post free agency, which will effect need a lot. I’d have to think they see rare pass rushers at the top of the draft. Sign 2 mid tier vet offensive line, a blue collar cb, and a good WR allowing a more bpa approach after a rusher at 1. Depth literally everywhere would be helpful at that point.
  23. I think it’s mostly a product of reading them elsewhere. People think teasers are normal online communication. Descriptive title, link and brief summary of an article (or thought out original observations), and wrap with some sort of opinion to frame the discussion you want to see in the thread— it’s so appreciated when it happens.
  24. A false equivalency eh? I was just pointing out that our frequent blanket statement “not a process guy” for anyone that isn’t 100% clear/consistent. Even in your response knocking me down for saying it you have quite a bit of twisting to reach the point. I suspect with time debating whether a guy is a process guy will devolve into similar to previous regimes “high character” debates.
  25. Is benjamin a process guy? Was Coleman? We’ve traded for each inside the last year. i don’t think we get dez but I’m not sure how to judge who they’ll take a shot at sometimes
