  1. This is buffalo fans - we sprint through brick walls pretending guys are good because they looked good in a walk through and ignore the entirety of their resume. It’s waaaaay to early to be pointing at street free agents being viable players suddenly because of the scheme
  2. Dont bring that “dupre is making plays in camp” stuff here... it’s waaaaay to early to pretend we have any idea if the scheme can get a guy like that to make plays on Sundays
  3. We will see. We heard similar from the Nate Hackett era, for instance, among several others.
  4. Ha! I’m mostly teasing. Still a good memento from a fun day
  5. If anyone understands twitter, it’s ritchie.
  6. Mines totally anecdotal and not meant to say everyone’s that archetype but it seems pretty common in the folks I’ve seen that fit the rest of the mold. While you learned what not to be like, many just learn what they will think to be normal behavior and becomes the type of behavior that replicates the chemical releases they are used to experiencing. It could of courses be a variety of other causes too. Was painting with a pretty wide brush on that part.
  7. Offset language allows the Jets not to pay him a portion equivalent to what someone else would pay that year. bar napkin ridiculous example: if his year 4 salary was 10m and he’s cut and given a 1m deal elsewhere jets only owe him 9m if there’s an offset clause. So he’d only make the 10, not 11 as he would if he got this language pulled. much like the amount guaranteed scales, offset language is more normal high, and less likely as you fall down the board
  8. Theres usually a split in the top 5-10 where it goes from expectation to rarity. Darnold and allen, without digging in past contracts, are likely in opposite sides of that line. Future top 5 jet picks perhaps. Every player? Your in one of your spirals where you start with crazy talk instead of conceding nuance. For the third pick? Yea, probably. He’s pretty much guaranteed three years and if he crashes and burns so badly he’s cut before year 4 he isn’t getting much money elsewhere to offset that salary for the season.
  9. Theres always been the people that fight in public places. Some people are just drama seeking. They tend to grow up in it, and seek partners that like it and then do it themselves. Now instead of a front yard, family bbq, restaurant or bar they have social media. An athlete that gets with a teenage instagram model is a prime pairing to likely be “that couple”
  10. Practice squad or fringe guys are rough. But if you are playing out a rookie contract you are well paid. No doubt. It’s those guys that are in the league one week, out for a month. Back on a practice squad three weeks and then active week 17 for a team that’s eliminated and then free agent til August that have it rough. And if you had to guarantee a full year every time you signed them it might even be longer that they wait between opportunities
  11. Any guy could walk into the GMs office and request a fully guaranteed deal. He’d get a lot less because he’s putting 100% if the risk in the team- but any of them could if they wanted. They all want to bet on themselves and chase the biggest payday and not the most reliable dollars though. (Not disparaging anyone with that) for the vet minimum type players id be down for tying their reduced cap hit to guaranteeing the salary, or something similar. Just have to be careful you balance it right so as not to push guys out of the league
  12. This time of year is 95% self created soap opera story lines for grown men. Dudes twisting and bending every last statement or practice rep to fit a story line they have created for the reality tv show that we all watch together
  13. Said everyone on the plane to San Diego
  14. They tend to lose all that non guaranteed money and often not hit incentives either.
  15. I mean, you had like 3 months to look up what #7 got last year... did you expect it to be drastically different?
  16. Or, maybe, last time around both sides acknowledged this as a possible revisit point. really, for someone so far outside the situation, you sho is angry
  17. could also be totally unrelated. So keep your prayers broad.
  18. Id venture that more 22 year olds than you’d expect get into nonsense on a Saturday night and show up fine Monday morning. Whether his is more or not is still tbd.
  19. Given cooks getting 5 for 80, you might be 15-20m off
  20. Ah - so 4th year, 5th year option then add 4 new years at 15 per.. I guess also, I’m not banking on young QBs holding out that early. Maaaaybe but I’d be a little surprised
  21. The example you used was a cheap midround pick and the rookie wage scale is, what, 5(?) years old now. Its Goff, wentz, wilson, jameis, was cam, was Flacco... as mentioned Wilson, Brees was a second rounder then injury discount, brady was super cheap out of the gate... 9ers with kaepernick. you’ve gotten to see it or are watching it in a bunch of places was my point... and for about 5 years it’s been the game everyone’s playing
  22. To be fair if it’s 6 years total and 60m, right? Did I read that clumsily worded tweet right? shady on a 5 year 40 signed a few years ago is somewhat comparable. 20% gain in 3 years is pretty normal these days I believe you are outlining the “everyone in the nfl model” try to find a qb. If you find the qb pay him and do your best to retain talent around him. I’m not sure it’s all that interesting- just a matter of if they get a ring.
  23. Great food - super check that box bar districts- again, lapping the field casinos- yup No niagra world class may be a stretch for either cities strip clubs fishing? That gulf thing has some fish in it huge lake- check sooooo I guess it comes down to waterfalls vs world class music, a top 10 museum in the world, elite special events, and probably a bit better at a few of the things you listed as buffalo strengths you must really like niagra falls!
  24. That john harbaugh article a few years back was awful. slept on the couch in his office, took meetings while on the treadmill... was working like 18-20 hours a day
