  1. Fair question. Until given reason otherwise I tend to start at “probably just happened to find it when playing in the database for something else” on timing for stuff like this. Then follow to “reporter probably thought he’d get clicks” before jumping to ideas like hit piece. But there definitely could be more underlying the motivation. I just don’t give a ton of credit to local sports reporters having grand plans in most cases.
  2. It feels like you went pretty far out of your way to misrepresent the stats. To go so far as to note wentz sat some 4th quarters in order to create the impression of being genuine.... while at the same time neglecting to mention that wentz threw a total of 48 passes across the first two full seasons that you baked into his total games number... well... that’s the kind of move that brings down the quality of the board and if I were a moderator would get you a conversation on the side Yup- when a guy is crushingit like that but its not showing in either the win total or yardage you have to wonder what the hell is going on... playing really safe, and efficient football from behind isn’t a great situation. He had the stat line of a guy protecting leads not a guy leading comebacks... and unfortunately didn’t have the leads. It’s being unwilling to take a shot to win the game.
  3. The problem is that may actually qualify as a starter on our WR depth chart.
  4. Thats kind of why I was leaning towards “not all news demands action” this is one of those where your own lens about how society handles he said-she said will likely determine what you think of this guy and case. Because of that I encourage both sides to ask some questions, remain open minded, and likely be ready to move on without toooo much noise unless we get a surprise and lots of details come out
  5. Why even post it if you aren’t going to actually share
  6. Just because you don’t know the evidence doesn’t mean the allegations without merit
  7. When you look at top ten picks for the last decade it would be a surprise to see him sit at all and a shock if he sat for any noteworthy stretch
  8. I get why the company makes the choice. But why as fans we pressure it for some offenses is interesting. Obviously if this is a horrific gang rape it’s not the case I’m making this point on behalf of - just waxing a bit hypothetical about the idea of running guys out of the league for off field conduct. On the other bit- yea, we escalate quickly in how we categorize things. 3 annoyed tweets from god knows who and suddenly you see headlines about twitter being on fire with outrage. Media loves to stir people up and we eat it up as a society. It’s easy to say the media sucks but they are just playing to their audiences.
  9. Or he was on twitter, saw the video, and has notoriously poor impulse control.
  10. Not if you win! But you better win.
  11. He shows up and we cut him and eat the dead money? On that note— Ritchie went from nonstop 24 hour a day twitter bender to radio silence. Truly I wonder if something happened, and he’s now trying to put things back together. I’d be interested if a reporter could get any update from him, or his friends/family about what’s been going on with him this offseason
  12. I suppose my take goes a bit like this.... this story is news, or at least on the edge of newsworthy, and fair to report but not all news needs a reaction. Not every story needs an action item from the viewer. We can note that he was accused, indicted, and as much associated story as possible - and simply as individuals decide if that effects our own opinions of him. It’s a 22 year old accusation without a ton of information from the article I read. I don’t think that disqualifies him from coaching 30 year old men to play a game at the situations current state. I think it’s fair for reporters to dig at and question and see where it goes. Ill admit, while I like watching good guys succeed instead of jerks.... at its core I sometimes wonder, how many crimes should disqualify someone from playing or coaching football? If you are too far outside the bounds of society to be in a locker room or on the field- what job are you able to have?
  13. $3 a month is pretty micro. It’s essentially the same concept but choose your paper instead of choose your article.
  14. And given the low odds for even perfect specimens, being an unknown isn’t thaaaat great a quality for a day 3 guy. A long shot is better than no shot but it’s still an issue
  15. What was his reasoning in this discussion? i suppose there is likely something to be said for a balance. You developed the game plan for a reason and hopefully you didn’t totally blow evaluating your own team or opponents- so I would say look for wrinkles but maybe not totally toss it right out of the gate without a good reason. Essentially trust the process but don’t be stubborn
  16. Has it worked well yet? Tolbert? Big time no KB? Not yet star? Hopefully but it cost a lot more than many expected if kB and star turn out great this year I’d imagine the comments slow down Its a good trio to fight for 1-2 spots. Not the the nicest thing to say but with late cuts any guy that doesn’t make it is likely able to be picked up deep into the season too.
  17. Year 3 was short on carries but about 5 YPC and year 4 was just shy of 1000 yards with 9 tds. hes really come into his own but the saints system can be a tough one for backs to maximize their potential in
  18. It also adds spotlight to your promising guys that may otherwise be practice squad material amd ultimately the number one question: could it help or hurt at qb... and I can’t see any upside even if risk is minimal. Why add any risk though?
  19. My options are support it or boycott the show? of course I’d watch it but that doesn’t mean I think it’s best for the team.
  20. Depends... what metric are you using? Most likely to win a game week 1? Most likely to have a franchise guy long term? We have the most volatile ranking going into the ceiling. It could easily be 32nd, or much higher.
  21. Thinking of starting another new thread on it? Or what are your rousing 4-5 topics du jour?
  22. That kid he picked on in 3rd period English 5 years ago could be exacting revenge. It could’ve been Beane for all we know
  23. Star qb on a rookie deal is obviously ideal, followed by paying the big contract to a guy that is roughly top quarter of the league. after that I think there’s a strong case that if you have $30m/yr and a decent first round pick to invest in your offense you are better off with the rookie qb(5m and 1st), and a star rb ($10m)and wr (15m) conpared to giving a dalton/tannehill type 20+ and having the other two be a decent draft pick and mediocre vet at $5m all napkin math to make a point but even if the qb is junk you probably darn near break even between the scenarios and if he’s good you are an immediate contender
