  1. If josh is the guy - he gets paid in 3-4 years and that short term piece comes off the books. We are in a cap situation where we can buy proven talent instead of hoping for unproven. It’s an incredible privilege that a lot of folks seem scared of. Can’t repeat these points enough times. It constantly amazes me how many people seem scared of ruining our shot 5 years from now.
  2. I get it- but also think words matter on that one and he’s in a situation where the only thing he shouldn’t do is play hero ball, so it stands out when someone says he had to do it. I get it’s shooting off a quick note on a message board so not trying to single you out or anything - just an important distinction in the narrative that I think as a collective we often take for granted. Especially when hoping the young QB is the guy.
  3. Yup. We are still missing a serious matchup challenge. We have a lot of the good filler but are still missing the guy that keeps a coordinator up at night because he takes more defenders than you can dedicate to him play in and play out. Allen’s big arms and legs may be the closest, but he needs a big time playmaker still. Especially while he learns to distribute the ball efficiently and maximize his stress on a defense instead of them stressing him If brown was a #2 and beasley taking on nickel backs we’d be a much more potent team.
  4. To be fair, he never really HAS to make hero throws. Hes chosen to make them. He’s made some bad choices under stress. It happens. Especially when the games still moving fast for you. But outside of exceptional late game circumstances he never really has to.
  5. Given turnover in the nfl - we saw a lot of moving parts but I’m not sure it’s insane. You have to be ready to play with new teammates, systems, coaches, terminology etc... and we flipped a lot of players but also josh kept a lot of other stability in his coach, playbook etc. Continuity counts for something but I think the bigger issue is young QB growing pains.
  6. dysfunction gets ignored when you win too. Plenty of dysfunctional winners out there
  7. The biggest issue would be not winning the division. Until we are the best in the division it’s an uphill road Having to go on the road to win 4 games is VERY tough and don’t think we are there yet on offense. But if Allen got hot, no reason to think this team absolutely couldn’t be like the flacco led ravens.
  8. Its why I kept beating the drum to make a big splash at WR our DE. If you think Allen and McDermott are remotely “the guys” we are in a roughly 3 year window of huge advantage and would hate to see them leave anything untried or waste a year without pushing the chips in.
  9. There’s just far too many variables for any of us to give you meaningful feedback but the short of it is you are never terribly secure past your contract and there’s not a lot of incentive to extend that contract early unless they are getting something to give those guarantees. Plan for the worst. Do great work. Make it easy for the best to happen.
  10. His age might temper the compensation a bit
  11. Nothing life altering but words like orbital fracture seem to be floating around. Which hopefully inspires some life changes.
  12. That is not what I’ve heard but if true we have a new music city miracle
  13. Clearly, but I meant for his health. Like maybe just a concussion and extreme bruising if he hit the table just right in his swan dive?
  14. Ive not reached that level of stupid, even with alcohol. I mean, what was BEST case scenario here?
  15. I couldn’t care less about a guy like KB that decided not to be a football player any longer in evaluating a new guy. I think the bigger hang up is that the kid was a UDFA that washed out of the league, went to the CFL, had limited interest, cleared waivers to the practice squad etc... for a reason duke has a ton to prove and speed will be a major challenge as a week in and week out player. All you can do is root for him and hope he’s the exception.
  16. Think his beard grows that way naturally or he works hard to make it happen?!?
  17. Curious about the Jordan Phillips shoes photo going around....
  18. Nah - expect it to get worse when the expectations rise.
  19. Don’t get me wrong, any week off is great but if you want it to be a season that lasts til February - this is very early and you’ve got to be planning to win the division early and/or receive a bye in the playoffs to call a bye this early ideal. outside of your QB being out for a week and it happening to be this week- the bye is welcome, but early
  20. What year was the 265 tackle? 1989?
  21. I tend to like them later. If banking on the playoffs, it’s a long time to go without a break from this early. And getting healthy late in the year is nice.
  22. It it should underscore how common that is if it happening more than a third of snaps is still ranked that high
  23. Brady is a lot more likely than josh, or cam to get that flag. Josh is a lot more likely than gore to get that flag. It’s life. On the fines, I think it’s more even handed on a broad level.
  24. When you have a QBs on a rookie deal you play by different rules and if your expectation isn’t competing for the super bowl in the next 18 months, you’re expectations are too low
