one might argue if a guy is THAT raw there are questions about him going that high. you can quote any interview you want. they went into the season with peterman and Allen. Either they were criminally negligent or they didn’t expect him to sit the whole season from pretty early in the process.

If Allen was expected to sit out the entire season you must’ve been mighty upset about us not creating a better qb situation around him Either beane was negligent, or he didn’t agree with you on the plan that he would be sitting.

mahomes is, fairly, an exception. But the point that you don’t draft a guy top 10 expecting him to sit in the modern Nfl is one I stand by. And as much as everyone said that was Allen, he did not sit. Frankly going into the season with he, peterman and McCarron- And dealing AJ... I don’t think they tried all that hard to avoid it. It’s just not reality to get one that high and not see him play. There’s a little noise around the data, as with anything, but I’m comfortable saying it’s materially true.

How much money are you under the impression he takes up? whether this move or another- you look for the splash now and when Donald or whoever comes off the books, Allen’s getting paid

a top 10 pick is 100% expected to start. Essentially none in the last 20 years has sat the season.

probably seems to get away with it more because you were far more likely to have a major reaction when he got flagged here while a flag there is met with a quiet muttering of “oh called for once”

yup- but DPOY is an of the year category, so some people like awards like that or MVP to be very much based on this year. Others like the larger resume. I tend to pull the best of the year and use the resume for any near tie breaks.

Like it or not, guys build a reputation. Gilmore is much further along in cementing his status at the top. People have heard his name, seen his highlights for much longer and just kind of expect him to be associated with the top CB status. Tre is building that. yup. seeing a guy on the pro bowl list year in and year out, covering his massive contract signing, interviewing him at super bowl media day etc... definitely effects how you subconsciously position a guy for stuff like this.

longevity is a piece of it. and team success. market obviously matters too but top paid free agent on a super bowl contender that’s made huge plays on the biggest stages gets more looks by default.

meh. I get it but you know guys 4 and 5 on the list may be frustrated - especially if a little dinged up. Or 6 and 7 if you do 5 and so on. I don’t agree, but it’s also not insane. Just need to know your team to make the call.

ive enjoyed it a lot but year three of a new regime with a top qb pick on board is on schedule to contend. It’s Goff, Wentz, Wilson, Big Ben, Kaepernick, da bears, ravens, etc... didn’t expect this win total, and am enjoying that, but I do expect this to be a year that we are supposed to have a chance and disappointed we didn’t have more chips on the table in a season we should have been starting to go for it and also happened to get a lot of breaks. the flip side of your post is a lot of people don’t seem to think we can do what the rest of the league does so we should be happy getting less. I had fun. Especially compared to usual. We could all have a lot more though.

Yup and at 1.5 TDs per game I’d take a few extra turnovers to get a few more big plays- in general. a 24-3 season is excellent. I’m not knocking it. But we will have to start scoring more to be a real contender and unless we suddenly become an elite running team it’ll come on joshs arm.

To say he only has 2 ints is a great post if it was the only intent. He added TDs to try to show he’s still slinging it and being productive while not throwing the picks, but then rounded it up with the rushing. Which overstates his case. It’s ok to note that. Under 2 TD passes a game doesn’t play as well as 2+ when saying a guy is producing without turnovers

the original posts point was that the TD to turnover ratio was good for an inaccurate guy. To present rushing TDs within that thesis isn’t particularly honest. i wasn’t debating if he was productive or good or... I was sticking to the OP calling out he has 22 combined tds as an “inaccurate” passer when a quarter are runs

count rushing stats all you want. to say josh Allen is an accurate passer due to his TD to Int ratio and count rushing tds is not terribly accurate unless you are making some back door argument that his runs are super accurate passes. In which case you should just say that. jackson fights being called a running back and I didn’t say his rushing means he’s inaccurate. I said you can’t sneakily roll in his rushing stats to use numbers to prove he is accurate. I think that should stand on his passing stats, for better or worse. Or at least say you are using his rushes as “completed passes” directly.

it can be. Without context it can cut both ways. low accuracy percentage and low turnovers probably speaks a bit to him not really putting it into windows that he might need to down the line for instance. There are probably a few of those games I’d be fine with the right turnover if it corresponds to 3 more big chunk plays too. Plenty of them staying safe was fine but as we get into the playoffs and games speed up, windows get smaller etc... it’ll be interesting to see if he can make the big plays more consistently

Probably worth clearly pointing out that and if calling it about accuracy to only include passing tds. That he has rushed for a bunch of touchdowns doesn’t speak to accuracy. it’s a fair topic but the OP stacked the deck a little

obviously you mentioned the rams and cowboys. seahawks have traded high picks Multiple times in this regime including a first patriots for cooks! kc for Frank Clark steelers for Minkah! texans went a bit wild bears for Mack saints have dealt several for draft picks (Ingram and Davenport) obviously some flops like browns with obj or cincy for Cordy Or emergency moves like the vikes getting bradford I just rattled off nearly half of the current front office regimes just off hand on my phone including most contenders and pretty much anyone you’d likely refer to as a credible front office. you can’t be scared of making moves to win.

yes on the rams you overshot by 10% and for our cap that’s nearly a 30% overstatement. he’s not cheap but you high balled it quite a bit to push your point. Nothing wrong with saying 18m a year is a lot.

19m 21m for the last 2 years. so an average of 23 through the remainder (10% less than 25m) and thats ignoring 24m of that staying with them - so more like 18m if we made the move
