Third Quarter Anemic Offense (Getting Better Every Week)
NoSaint replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
with same coach and largely same personnel it’s definitely a spot to keep an eye on trends carrying over. its a bit like some teams being excellent out of a bye and others terrible- regardless of approach taken. Coach needs to know his teams needs for energy levels and attention to detail vs some space during pauses. im not fretting was few teams are foot on the gas 100% of the time but it’s something to keep an eye on as a chance to grow a bit -
missed throws happen. To expect perfect is silly. right now he’s exhibiting all the physical tools, poise, solid reads etc... it’s not broken plays, short fields, and dumb luck overcoming mediocre skill sets like we have sometimes seen. now it’ll be a matter of doing it against good teams and with some consistency but it’s the right arc to be on. Not just the outcomes but how those are coming about which is the important part in forecasting progression.

were you under the impression they were unbeatable? -
Lawson - buyer or seller after today

meh. He was universally a high pick coming out and we didn’t take him at the top of the round. for a second tier pass rusher he’s been relatively at expectation minus the shoulder issue -
Need to trade for a pass rusher

I mean, I’m not sure “this would make us a super bowl short lister” is panicky -
I’m honestly not even sure what point you are trying to make here.

clearly another case of media hate
-
there were announcers in the Pitt/den game calling him the most improved player in the league during the game. it took all of 7 quarters for the media to embrace him once he stepped up (for all the media hates us people)
-
frankly, I’m more impressed by his play this year than making the playoffs. And yea, Peter king had him in the mvp race I specifically remember, and he wasn’t the only one. Media will race to embrace josh too, he just wasn’t that guy before this year. Commentators in other games were talking about him during the game today.
-
heck - Trent was in mvp conversations but josh has all the tools and as he strings games together I’ll be less likely to doubt. Still just 2 weeks and against bad teams but he is truly playing like “the guy” right now

[Mod edited] Did any players test Covid positive this week?
NoSaint replied to DBilz2500's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
let him manage his own fantasy football team ithaca also had very low numbers to start so if they tested coming into campus it makes sense it’ll stay low. long story short- I don’t think the student behavior is impeccable so much as covid just isn’t in the community at the moment. The nfl is a different beast. -

Definitely coming at this one from a non-confrontational angle and genuinely curious (and not sure the right way to approach broaching the subject) it feels like the decision to let PPP be more or less unmoderated is possibly running its course as society evolves. We are at a crossroads where politics is interweaving more and more of our every day discussions and there are plenty of folks here i would love to discuss this topic with, but have no desire to go subject myself to PPP. i know the hands off policy was created quite some time back and curious about the prospect of its revisiting through the years. that we have a cornerstone major American news story that can’t be discussed on the any topic goes board that is moderated and civil because it’s political but the political board means you have to subject yourself to abuses is disappointing. -
Robert Woods 4yr/65m extension

I’ll add “cap hell” isn’t terribly hellacious. Look at our own experience breaking the drought while in it -

only thing I would really underscore for a guy like D2D is it’s an overarching philosophy to win in the window. it’s not push the chips in for a single year and buy a ring Any given single season you have to hope you get lucky. If you push hard over several years you are more likely to get the breaks needed one of those seasons, maybe more. whether you get the ring the 1st or 3rd year of that window the eventual re-tooling is going to come when it’s time to pay the qb and move on from some of that overindexed talent you bought. right now I’d rather push everything on the table and hopefully re tool around a franchise qb in a few years. Eagles fans will tell their kids where they were in 2017 and barely have 2021 register. I’d be 100% down for that as our next 3-4 years. -

Yea and the poor bastards only got a super bowl parade out of it all. really underscores that the Sammy-woods-Goodwin-hogan group while not the greatest ever were a pretty viable collection. Really a shame that we didn’t get more out of that era. Rex messing up the defense and being a clown wasted some opportunities -
Deion Sanders named HC of Jackson State (T.O. as WR coach)

I’m not betting he’s there super long term. and other coaches have made a career of it. -

his name alone puts him ahead of 90% of the coaches in recruiting and by jumping straight to head coach he doesn’t have to develop or prove any scheme. He can simply be a motivator and close signings unlike your average obscure name at that level -
calling him #2 in the league with some critique like that is akin to discussion that Brady is one of the all time greats but benefits from scheme. it doesn’t mean he’s Trent dilfer. It means compared to the elite of the elite if you are splitting hairs here are a few differentiations. id say it’s fair to characterize him as incredibly technically sound compared to the others but not the guy you point to as the greatest athlete and major free lancer in that very elite group.

Cover1: Extensive Breakdown of Josh's performance
NoSaint replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
most are under 70% most weeks. josh will be under 70% most weeks. he played a solid well schemed game against a lesser opponent. He did what he was supposed to do and did it very well. If he hits that standard (handling his business, not 70%) we will be in great shape. -

I feel like this might be a Kelly the dog alter I think your posts should be nit picked at that level -
Lamar Jackson pulled a Josh Allen and no one said a word.
NoSaint replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
if the bills are 4-0 coming out of Vegas and josh is playing high level (say close to 300 a game, about 10 tds, a couple splashy highlight plays) he will creep into the “is this the turning point” talk and all eyes will be on him full time. No doubt. And the media would love to embrace him as he’s a fun charismatic guy with big talent. -

I’ll sidestep 400 specifically and just call it “has another great game” it’d be encouraging but beating up a bad team with the roster around him is the expectation. you have to meet the expectation a lot to get Major credit. He’s taken some steps. A great game against Miami would be fantastic but it wouldn’t be proof he has arrived as our savior.
