  1. you act like asking the guy that made a racist tweet what he thinks about this civil rights movement going on is some insurmountable perfect trap of nefarious intent. yea, as a rule of thumb lots of good comes from people loving each other but without saying what that looks like - it amounts to saying thoughts and prayers. there are plenty of better ways to navigate that question, and what marcel thinks of the answer means little to me. and no, Fromm isn’t obligated to answer anything but he is accountable to the response he gives. In this case a minor flub that had minor pushback.
  2. I think loving your fellow man and serving god is totally fine. I’m not religious but I’m generally all for people finding ways to live with love in their hearts. I think In response to that question, and compounded further by the context of his situation and his previous comments, it’s a rather lackluster answer both if he was truly answering or if he was dodging the question.
  3. I don’t plan on speaking to that issue but here’s my ethos is an answer that will get your answer criticized, even by people that like your ethos.
  4. agreed. though I think that some people mask morally reprehensible stances as “just politics” and I think being a junk person can certainly break up families... but that doesn’t mean minor quibbles over how tax policy can best serve people should do that. You know, the difference between we both intend well but disagree on how to get there vs someone actually being a schmuck.
  5. If a lone reporters tweet of an opinion is a mountain, what would you actually qualify something meaningful as?
  6. its “the team with the most points wins the game” level of religious insight there. If it’s a step forward, from “I’m religious” that strides length is measured in grains of sand.
  7. sure thing... the one saying he’s free to answer and people are free to react is the one against freedom
  8. no - there’s ability to review on content as well as structure. The latter is a lot more quantifiable. I can say something was a well answered question with an opinion I disagree with. Plenty of well constructed arguments that I think are terrible morally. his answer wasn’t very good structurally whether or not you share his faith. He dodged the topic. He could’ve said “I use my faith as a guide but have learned— insert whatever he wants” instead of “nah it’s good, I’m religious”
  9. If you can point me to anyone besides you framing it as mountainous...
  10. How about “acceptable to someone that was just told that the speaker has been learning important information about the topic”
  11. but likewise the reporter doesn’t have to say his answer sufficed. your allowed to duck the question and the reporters allowed to say you ducked it and then the fans are allowed to think what they will i would say calling this tweet and/or the reaction a mountain is certainly you doing exactly that
  12. I’ll continue to echo that I’m not saying the reporters great. but if you spent your last couple months having big meaningful conversations about a major topic that’s playing out around you and then you are asked about that topic at hand... it’s a reasonable expectation to see him say something more meaningful about the issue. Like I said, not the end of the world but good reason to have a questions (which the reporter may or may not have been able to ask)
  13. Oh I’m not saying MLJ is good. Wasn’t even touching on that a little. just discussing whether it was a solid way to address it. Questionable at best in my opinion. Doesn’t make Fromm the devil either. He’s a young guy learning tough lessons in front of the media. Not easy, and I suspect he’s not an overtly racist jerk... just a clumsy young man feeling his way through.
  14. Your kid gets in a fight at school. you have a big talk about conflict resolution etc... ask your kid about a situation you witness and your kid says “love god and each other” and doesn’t talk continue on to the deescalation techniques you discussed or strategies for better outcomes... does questioning whether he got the point mean you have disregarded his faith? marcel doesn’t say his faith is wrong but without tying your faith to knowledge and action it’s just faith, not an example of growth and new maturity that he was looking for. It’s fair to question whether he actually understands how to better live his faith than he did prior. Fromm didn’t offer that info. Which is his right to sidestep but it’ll irk some people.
  15. how do you separate this: Spoke to Bills QB Jake Fromm, who insisted he's had many difficult conversations over the past few months since his "elite white people" texts surfaced. He said he's starting to see the world in a new perspective. Also insists that text is not indicative of who he is as a person from his answer to what he thinks of the issues of the last few months? I’m not trying to cancel him or anything but obviously I’m an ideal answer he’d have a bit more content than love god and each other if he’s had many important conversations on race
  16. your missing that in the context of a conversation about what he got himself into with a racially questionable comment and him talking about his big difficult conversations and then transitioning to what do you think about the racial issues going on... his answer by very definition is going to be showcasing what he’s learned.
  17. in context of what he was addressing it wasn’t a terribly appropriate answer. He punted and used faith as a shield instead of using it as a moral structure behind explaining what he learned
  18. unless I’m missing something - Fromm answered that he learned his lesson but gave a pretty darn weak explanation of what that lesson was. its fair to call that out.
  19. As they will be there too for awhile. But most will eventually justify it as not mattering much to pay 2021 seats 6 months early. plenty of concerts and events doing similar with rolling the ticket forward or get a refund and risk buying again later. I don’t love it, but with a lot of institutions in severe hardship and the process of refunding and recollecting also being a chore... I get incentivizing a path of least resistance
  20. Not ideal as a fan, but I don’t think it’s crazy to incentivize rolling money over instead of a refund. And the penalty for refund isn’t super harsh.
  21. agreed across the board. This is purely getting some love from a guy that left his last job unhappy. He’s trying to start on the right foot without actually giving much up. which makes no difference to the point I made. the deal made us less flexible not more and benefited almost exclusively diggs. Our upside is the dude likes buffalo out of the gate. Our cost is almost nothing though because we weren’t shipping him out any time soon.
  22. meh. They could’ve rolled it over and had more flexibility than accelerating pay and ramping up guarantees. they wanted to earn Goodwill with a moody player that will without question be on the roster the next few years.
