  1. And ours will get it done more often than most. it was a tough half not a bad unit.
  2. and yet it happens regularly in the nfl it happens who cares what fans declare the leader of the team of the rings that scare me in a shootout, power running is lower down the list. Don’t love any weakness but I’ll take the paper cuts over being susceptible to big plays bad weather is completely overrated here otherwise, spot on
  3. Welcome to Winning in the Nfl. you have to score a lot and hopefully your defense holds up for stretches along the way.
  4. I think this breakdown hits on some concepts of why I’m optimistic this time and have been in the past skeptical. so often we get caught up in the results (see fitz hot start season) and not the how (flukey turnovers, and unsustainable short fields and broken plays). the 300 yard thing wasn’t so much about it being a magical threshold as much as it being such a statistical outlier if you think a guys playing well. hitting 3 or even 400 didn’t suddenly change who he was but some changes in fundamentals seem to be helping him be the type where clearing that bar will be commonplace because he is actually playing differently in his mechanics. We will see if it sustains in big games, playing from behind, or under major pressure but there’s reason to be optimistic
  5. yea - I was a lil nervous clicking. Glad it was all positive.
  6. honestly by hometown discount I mean maybe accept 35.5 instead of twisting arms for 36.25 kind of discussion. He might not pinch every last penny out of them but he’s not leaving much money on the table. tbe 20-25M number mentioned was quite silly
  7. yup. If he’s a top 5-10 statistical guy then $35m might be the actual hometown discount. We have people suggesting numbers closer to taysom hill than Jared Goff. but if they were confident in him they could keep the cap hit low next year with the covid impacted cap dip you could give him $51m cash on a 11m cap hit with a 50m signing bonus and 1m salary as a bar napkin example but you’d be in that contract for 4 years before being able to bail if he flops. I’m not saying that’s a reasonable number/structure, but underscoring the process with easy values to wrap heads around (and type on a phone)
  8. the big thing will be whether he gets treated like a franchise guy or a starter with question marks. the pay rate is only so different but how you structure things can vary a lot. if he’s “the guy” you can manipulate the upfront numbers with a big signing bonus, a roster bonus that you intend to convert to signing etc.... to get him cash but push the hit. if he’s not a resounding and confident answer then you get stuck with a more cash to cap structure where you can get out without major issues earlier
  9. im good with plenty of wrath for like 15-20m more a year you arent even in the ballpark with those numbers.
  10. I prefer when other teams don’t know the details honestly
  11. This thread is nearing political
  12. some of these guys are there not just what they did in 2 weeks but what you’d expect them to do moving forward based on careers. A mediocre week kills a freshman in the Heisman race, not the senior thats 3 times been a finalist
  13. our rookie contract elsewhere is Josh.
  14. you mean the psychology of making bad decisions to feel better about yourself? not my favorite but definitely a common thing.
  15. yup - 2-2 with good outings at least 3 of the 4 weeks and its all good. You are bound to have a flat game or some bad bounces or play a hot team some weeks. just can’t see it be the norm against teams not in contention for top 5 picks.
  16. split and we are 4-2 and undefeated in the division i think that’s better than “still a wildcard” on pace for 10-11 wins would be easily pushing for the division if not winning it outright
  17. It’s almost like you can’t look at the past and acknowledge the good and bad in reasonable ways.
  18. It’s definitely his last season. hes generally been lacking a deep ball for a bit here but Thomas/cook/kamara to being able to be productive underneath Thomas gets force fed passes and still has a ridiculous catch rate. Jokes aside his injury may hurt more than the Brees injury last year.
  19. maybe it’s just me but I feel like I have plenty of real issues lately without looking for made up perceived slights and vendettas I had someone complaining the praise wasn’t enough when I posted that commentators in another game were calling josh the most improved player in the league in the 3rd quarter of the early games yesterday.
  20. Is the theme of 2020 just going to be complaining about every call and announcer comment that isn’t favorable in a bills centric manner? its non stop so far this season. Even by our standards.
  21. health will go a long way to deciding that and Thomas being out is pretty serious. Their WR depth chart is very much lacking outside him.
  22. the touching the helmet is a bright line rule but it’s hard to swallow when it’s just light grazing. the classic nfl fans paradox- do you give refs more judgement calls or hope for consistency by giving a hard line rule like that instead.
  23. What he lacks in physical skills he’s made up for in dividing the locker room and alienating the fan base 😂
  24. his intro was terribly uncomfortable too. it felt like at times he was actively trying to make it weird. not a HUGE fan but enjoy them plenty enough. Just seemed almost like he was intentionally making some commentary on the situation
