  1. unfortunately, you tend to cycle 5s, unless they become a 3. it’s hard to invest that deep when you can get talented But incomplete role players deep in the draft or cheap.
  2. conceptually fair to ask and I’m guessing/hoping that they would at least look at where the bottlenecks happen and diversity gap widens most. No idea whether film assistants skew as badly as head coaches, for instance, but this seems to signal that they think the jump from position coach to coordinator is a noteworthy one in that regard.
  3. It’s about developing depth in the coaching pool. If teams are more apt to hire black coordinators to maybe get a pick later there’s a bigger pool of well established guys to hire for head coaching jobs. I don’t love it but it’s not as crazy a concept as some portray. It might not be my policy but the thought process Behind it is very simple to lay out. for all the jokes, if you wanted to engineer getting more Asian qbs, and you rewarded teams for developing Asian guys in backup roles, there’s a better chance a few might sneak through to be starters with the time and investment.
  4. those are the universal top 3 right now. No shame in that. The team will enjoy the tweet though.
  5. you hire your guy. You don’t worry if the other team gets something. Free agents get signed despite comp picks all the time. In this case stealing a great coordinator hurts that rival more than a couple mid round picks should help and you get a coach you believe in I don’t love the solution but I think some of y’all are being dramatic. Also, come on. The filter blocks the word and you go out of your way to use it again?
  6. When I heard crazy Todd Haley story my expectation was pretty far out there. This seems like expected Todd Haley content.
  7. Yea - I don’t think his reputation really changed much this season. Good player, struggles to be healthy. they get paid but sometimes not long term or high guarantee. But they get paid. what this offseason ends up being will be a question mark though.
  8. we did the same for 20 years. enjoy not being on that ride currently and let them count games back and come up with ridiculous scenarios
  9. once you are in the super bowl it’s not like the qb pay makes it suddenly impossible to win. that said, I keep banging the drum that it’ll never be easier for them than it is now and I’d put everything on the table.
  10. It’s not who he has been, and I doubt it’s who he will suddenly be on a consistent basis. But I’ll take it when he does flash it.
  11. It’s a 60 yarder. You should be shocked if it’s even close.
  12. must. Resist. Jokes.
  13. we know. She married you.
  14. There are a lot of ways to get it done. If you go 4 wide and spread them out there are a lot of short pass and run options that a jumbo 3 TE set doesn’t afford. At some level get the talent on the field and make a good call and don’t be to bound by traditional situational groupings. we got more talented and are utilizing those strengths which is great.
  15. yet somehow we wrote it not the proudest move, but such is life
  16. “I think he could be a serviceable qb” means you think he’s a bust
  17. Don’t like that, personally. I think once you start the year you don’t change the playoff format.
  18. yup. But it seems to be most weeks, or many weeks(with the disclaimer that I haven’t charted this or anything). I get that it has its place and that having multiple techniques is great but think we could ramp up the hits on blitzes a bit
  19. I don’t think anyone expects his results but at some point there’s some value to letting the other team know you intend to make it a hard day for them. if being sent to hit the hole I’d rather they miss their assignment hitting a guy hard than getting caught in trash. Obviously best when you can just make the play but we aren’t doing that consistently to begin with. Easier to turn up the intensity than rebuild from the ground up mid season.
  20. I’ve noticed more than a few times that the blitzer engages with a finesse move and almost spies the qb instead of trying to explode the play. certainly a time for each approach. Would like to see more of the violent hits from our lbs though
  21. I know the first sentence was rather long but if you made it through it you likely find the answer soon after
  22. better than bad is a low bar and he clears it easily but we are in the window where we need to be thinking about a ring this year. His comparables are rosters like the rams or eagles before paying their qbs. he’s put together a decent team. I don’t think outsiders skim the roster and think “damn how’d he do that” either though
  23. To be fair Morse likely is one of those guys with waaaaay more than 5
