Any interest in Saquon Barkley?

I enjoy that he’s both way overused and always injured but only really had a year of snaps.... -
Taysom Hill gets $140 million over 4 years

ultimately it gives them the option to retain him as a franchise qb on the near impossible shot he earns it -

every contract is voidable without penalty as long as you don’t have future year guarantees. you are getting hung up on the word and neglecting to think of the concept. dude just signed a 3 year extension essentially and has a signing bonus but not guaranteed salary. He’s never going to see year 2 of it. it’s him giving some cap flex but telling them the only way he’s there past this season is if he’s an elite starting qb, or he opts to renegotiate. Basically the huge sum gives him control of his next step. -
Mahomes restructures, opens up 17 million in cap space
NoSaint replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unfortunately, unless you think there’s any risk of them wanting to cut mahomes the next couple years- true specific move keeping the same dollars on the books is a trade of guaranteeing they will pay them for increased flexibility in how to account for them. Could spend them this year now, or roll them over and be in the same spot later as they were before. the only way the ink on paper here makes them weaker is if in the heat couple years you want to separate from the player and can’t reasonably. It’s all upside for this example though. -

Checking the timeline it appears the Saints kicked the can straight into the year they are losing a hall of fame qb. Seems to me it’s a pretty excellent strategy to win now and rebuild when you don’t have a shot anyway. Pointing at them misses the point Happens to the best of us sometimes! -

he’s in fact accelerating how quickly he’s getting all the same dollars. You’ve missed the mark completely here. -
Yup The restructuring plus sitting out pretty much locked in this year. you can sometimes argue it’s fine to eat the dead money to save cash but his salary is fine for a player of his caliber this year.

Bills Salary Cap deep dive with Spotrac's Mike Ginetti
NoSaint replied to Aussie Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
there were definitely some self inflicted growing pains swept under the rug of “cleaning up the old regimes cap mess” i do think there’s been growth though. -
Bills Salary Cap deep dive with Spotrac's Mike Ginetti

it’s gotten better but a lot on the board don’t use restructure in the same meaning as most of the league. a pay cut is a pay cut, but restructure almost always refers to converting salary to bonus to reduce current year cap at expense of future flexibility -
Redrafting 10 years of Bills 1st & 2nd Round Picks
NoSaint replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
you say it’s easy, but he still didn’t do great. Many of the grades were questionable at best (especially in round 2 where getting a solid starter is a success) and the proper picks were pretty inconsistent. -
I read the article. I have no doubt they chatted. I don’t think anything referenced was particularly ground breaking for Rivera’s professional development though. Do you? sure, the mentor picks some stuff up too when bouncing around ideas and chatting with the young guns - no doubt. But broad strokes, “the process” isn’t that novel. not meant insulting in any way. Just don’t think the bills effected the WFT development tooooo much.

Comparing the Super Bowl to the AFC Championship Game
NoSaint replied to Arm of Harm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
playing with a lead, and the chiefs line being thinner both helped, but their front 4 are nastier pass rushers and lbs better in space too. Double whammy when evaluating what the gap was. -

Tampa got to play with a lead most of the game - that helps them key in on a one dimensional offense Tampa played against an injured OL the whole day, that helps their already more talented DL get pressure while also playing with a lead. they covered Kelce with tough physical presence. And sat a safety over tyreek. kc needed to see Watkins or hardman make a play to break the game back open and bust the simple defensive shell. Neither guy made that play. yup. you can get a really athletic LB in the 20s still. An edge rusher is harder but not impossible. I’d think they hope Oliver continues to develop and Edmunds gets healthy though. -
[Dead cap] With the Goff and (pending) Wentz trades...

There's something fishy about Jon Feliciano

Drew Brees renegotiates, now making the league minimum.
NoSaint replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
it’s not difficult. you paid the guy money that hasn’t been accounted for in the cap yet. Dropping the salary reduces Drew’s short term number being carried without changing the dead money and then June 1 his dead money can be split over 2 seasons when he comes off the roster after that accounting deadline the entire storyline of September was that he had one of the worst “air yards per pass” in the league. Unless the shoulder was injured in the offseason, the issue isn’t going away. It was there before the rib injury. -
MVP vote - Josh got 2nd most votes
NoSaint replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I still think he re-aggravated something in the divisional game he still ran some but the designed runs disappeared and his mannerisms/mechanics all tightened up on that side -
he’s a talented athlete, that has struggled. I don’t doubt that’s a combo of scheme, d line, youth, and probably some skill issues too. Not to mention injury. he too often guesses the wrong hole, and when he gets there he’s rarely a missile... but with a bum shoulder and not great DT play.... would we expect him to be firing through and blowing up everything? it’s tough to evaluate him this year and he is walking into a major “prove it” season.

the only thing that gives me pause is Sherman’s intensity and success. I think he could’ve been moved the needle in the AFCCG with how the defense walked into the building as poyer was wrong when he said they had been through everything already. They hadn’t been in the biggest game against the best team and that’s a big jump from even the regular season game against the chiefs. that said, not sure he works out as that leader as a depth guy.

Cam Newton, NFL MVP. Does any team want him 2021?
NoSaint replied to Nihilarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
he’s been incredibly lazy with his mechanics, and inconsistent with his self care. I’m hoping josh will age better, but you never know what any Sunday will bring
