  1. You neglected to include the following sentence: This was the Lego of offensive systems. Its inherent simplicity could be exploited to build any machine imaginable. For sure Charlie Weiss built upon the system & added his own wrinkles & formations that he felt were good. I'd think any OC should/would do this. No OC just takes a vanilla system & copies it, they form it into something that they believe will work. We can debate whether Daboll has been making the wrong play calls or throwing too much on Allen too soon. But on a straight concept basis, the EP system has less terminology for players to learn & a less complicated playbook vs other systems. Of course i'm no expert, just going off of everything ive researched into it & heard from other sources. And it makes sense. In our situation i believe our issues stem more from a lack of talent in key positions such as our oline & wr group. Not to mention a QB who came from the Mountain West in college which was one giant leap to the NFL. This team wasnt really ready for Allen to be starting this year. And #2 Allen needed tons of work, from his footwork & mechanics to reading the defense both presnap & post snap. With so many big issues where any of one them could bring an offense trouble, the system itself i feel is not the problem. There has been countless analysis done on Allen so far, and you can see receivers wide open all over the field. The downfield scheme has provided ample opportunities in the passing game. We just havent been executing on those chances. To me thats less on the system & more on Allen & his supporting cast.
  2. Where do u get that the EP system is tougher to grasp than most others? From everything i've read & heard, the whole reason the system was created in the 1st place was because it was easier for players to grasp than the others. The E-P system specifically, is a method of conceptualizing the plays in a streamlined manner so that the offensive players are able to memorize the plays easily. The system is built so that players can spend less time worrying about their assignment and more time focused on applying the concept from an array of formations and personnel groupings. Idk if youre just pulling stuff out of thin air, but maybe go to summer school for some extra help: https://www.bigblueview.com/2016/7/15/12188564/summer-school-erhardt-perkins-offense-belichick-weis-parcells-brady-patriots
  3. hindsight is 20/20. At the time they probably felt his potential didn't add up to $6 or $7mil per season. And i bet if we wouldve offered him that at the time, many around here would've felt we were overpaying. The job of a GM is a tough one. Most the time it doesnt end well. Not everyone can be a Robert Kraft, bcuz not every team can have a Tom Brady. You just hope you get more hits than misses. With our situation its hard to evaluate much of anything, given the mess this team was in & how we've purged our dead cap for this year. But starting from 2019, with the players we bring in we'll be able to more accurately see how our GM performs & what type of QB Josh Allen is. Until then we'll be debating this stuff & picking out this & that while this season goes pretty much like we thought it would.
  4. I'd rather give AJ McCarron a call than have DA start. We're already on the hook with paying him $2.1 mil. My as well bring him back so he can play for that paycheck lol
  5. On a side note, on that running play where Ivory was poised to break out for a big gain but got tackled because of his long dreads hanging out. As a coach i'd think i'd have to talk to Ivory about tucking those dreads inside his helmet or removing them all together, am i right? I know it was a freak play, but the only reason Ivory has those dreads is bcuz he likes the way they look, aka vanity. So dudes hair style hurt this team on that play. As a coach i'd think u'd have to address it somehow right?
  6. We're not gonna get rid of anyone at this point. Maybe we'll trade away someone b4 the deadline. But this offseason is when we'll see some movement. Anyone looking for a quick fix is gonna be disappointed
  7. considering how he doesnt fumble the ball , it hasnt been a problem or concern at all. Surely nothing to worry about imo. I imagine it helps him move laterally & throw defenders off with what direction he's gonna move.
  8. I remember reading that Beane brought in Perriman or at least talked to him or his agent, a week or so ago. Apparently Beane didnt think he'd be worth signing. Its funny though, the Brownies basically shipped out Coleman for another Coleman, this time named Perriman. I too would like to see us make some moves but all signs point to us rolling with what we have this year & we'll make our moves during the offseason.
  9. what a great question, cant believe nobodies discussed this yet
  10. Just what this place needed, another punter thread. I see someone already said this is stupid so i'll sit this one out haha
  11. I for one would like to just enjoy the win today. But I've said this since Allens 1st preseason game. Its way too early to make any kind of judgements on what kind of career he's gonna have. Its the same after 1 regular season game, 2 regular season games, 3 regular season games, 4... u get the idea. Lets give this kid some time to learn whats termed 'the hardest position in all of sports' & wait til he has some more games under his belt. This issue has been talked to death about but its a huge jump from the Mountain West in college to the NFL. Allen wasn't supposed to be the starter this year, this team wasnt really ready for him. Put some more talent around him & you'll have a clearer idea of what he can do. Until then I suppose we'll just see 100 more threads like this after every weeks game & i'll Facepalm thru 99 of them.
  12. Yeah i've been wondering for months now when this Logan Thomas experiment will end. I just cant see continually giving a roster spot to someone, just because you hope they can catch on to a new position. I realize it takes time but at what point is it times up? If this isnt his last year here I might run face first into a wall in the hopes of knocking myself out
  13. cmon, Allen held on to the ball for a whole 3 seconds. 1 to step back & 2 with the defender all over him.
  14. yep... you can close the thread now
  15. i like the idea but that tattoo artist kinda butchered the buffalo. Whats up with its eyes (eye)? it reminds me of one of those baby pig fetuses we had to dissect in high school.
  16. For me the issue of a redraft focuses in on Pat Mahomes. We had the opportunity in that draft to either snag him or Watson but by all accounts we were already looking ahead to this past draft for our QB of the future, instead of just drafting one then. But that trade with KC in my eyes could haunt me depending on where we are a couple years from now. And dont even mention picking Sammy 'what have i done to justify all this money' Watkins over Khalil Mack... A fan can drive themselves crazy with the what ifs & all that jazz. I'm just thankful we competed today & got the win.
  17. A team that is gonna have some growing pains with a rookie qb on the field, but one that fields a strong defense, that can win the turnover battle on both sides of the ball. An offense that does enough to capitalize on the possessions & extra possessions they have, can win games & make the playoffs. Kinda like how we saw happen last year. Guess it just took a few weeks to get this ship going. Hopefully it continues
  18. I guess you didnt see that 2 out of the 1st 5 posts in this thread were saying leslie is bad at making the calls? Not only were they wrong bcuz he was the one making them today but jeez, we win a game nobody thought we were gonna win, and ur 1st impulse is to dog a coach. Idk man, just a Bills fan thing to do i guess
  19. these guys are so quick to throw salt at our coach after a great game that they dont even realize the guy was calling the plays today... too funny... but im not surprised
  20. Especially given how Leslie called the plays today
  21. I learned a long time ago, you never bet on the bills & you never bet against them... never!
  22. how dare they kneeled, who do they think they're playing for, catholic priests? .... too soon? But seriously, yeah if he's available i'd bring him in here for a workout at the least. Cant hurt at this point!
  23. What rules would we be playing with? CFB'S? or the NFL's? Because that makes a huge impact as well. If its NFL rules with both 2 feet in bounds & all that jazz then no question the Bills would win. If its CFB rules the game would be a tad bit closer, but like others have said, the talent level of an NFL team, even a bad one is still good enough to win head to head imo. This topic is fools gold haha
  24. Gives more meaning behind that stupid train whistle playing in between plays at the stadium. Its the whistle right before the train wreck. Now i understand why the whistle plays, it all makes sense now.
  25. I still wear my Fitzpatrick jersey from time to time. My friend laughs at me when i wear it. But Fitz's production so far this season is hard to laugh at. Dudes been ballin Sad to say but Fitz was the best qb we've had here since Jim Kelly.
