  1. Yeah i was surprised Foster beat out Streater. I know Foster has the speed but I haven't really seen much more out of him in terms of route running or good hands. Streater at least seems like a safer bet. I mean a few years ago he put up nearly 900 yards with the Raiders, but I suppose they recognize the need for a vertical threat. And who knows, maybe they feel they can coach him up a bit. He is pretty raw
  2. Anyone surprised that Foster made the team & not Streater, Reilly or Proehl?
  3. I feel like we've been waiting for Logan Thomas to turn into a good TE for years now... I know it takes time but hopefully it happens this year or it might just be time to move on from this project. How many years can you devote a roster spot to a project TE?
  4. Insert Nick O'Leary & Logan Thomas to the abbreviations, it'll make more sense that way
  5. All these statements from Jalen is gonna put him on thin ice. I like personalities & think its overall good for the sport, but dude needs to put up a couple seasons 1st before his words mean anything. You think you can be in the NHL Jalen? How bout learn how to skate 1st? Dude talks smack about Edelman, but yet still got smoked twice last year by him. I'd like to see more of his talking take place on the field personally. If he keeps putting out ridiculous statements, people will eventually mute him out & ignore him... Which in turn will probably lead Jalen to get even more outlandish & ridiculous. Keep your popcorn handy i guess
  6. and to think just a week ago everyone was making threads that Allen/Peterman was Kelly/Reich. How bout we just stop trying to make false comparisons to other players, when our current guys have a grand total of 1 half of regular season NFL football.
  7. it HAS to be... it's just gotta! To be honest, I don't take anything for a given with this team. All options are on the table until the game starts come week 1. But by the time the game is over tonight, we should have a little better of an idea, but surely nothing we can cement in stone.
  8. In the past it was primarily for training camp, the announcement today is a season long promotion
  9. It's good for her, good for the NFL, is it good for the Bills & the improvement of our players? I don't know. Kinda like how our QB's coach Culley hasnt coached the position in some 30 odd years, here's another coach being added that appears as more of a student than a teacher. From an ESPN article 20 days ago, it says: Schecter's role for three weeks with the Bills included compiling play scripts for practice, assisting defensive backs coach Gill Byrd in running drills during practice and helping break down film from each session. So i guess her role is more of a support role? I guess that helps. I'm sure our coaching staff needs as much help as it can get. While this is a good story for the Bills & NFL in general & will garner some national press. The lack of quality coaches in key areas of our team worries me. Hopefully I'm wrong to worry & our players are coached to their strengths & are able to succeed. GO BILLS!
  10. surprised to even see Culley appear on this list, yet alone any list lol. I wish we had a more experienced QB's coach. His track record in this regard hasn't been that great, & thats an understatement lol. Is Culley here because McD thinks he is the right man for the job? Or is he here because he's all we got? Here's to hoping he can coach.
  11. This exactly. Can you imagine what the narrative would be if Josh Allen started 0-11, just like Troy Aikman did? Or what if he went 4-12, just like Jim Kelly did? I understand the concerns people have with throwing Allen into the fire, but just like with most things in life, you learn the quickest thru experience & thru making mistakes & learning from them. Having Josh on the sidelines will just teach him how to hold a clipboard & have him inside of his head the whole game, as opposed to just playing football. If you believe Allen is your franchise QB going forward, then you go with him. There's always gonna be a risk of injuries, its a physical game. But I can't see McD not starting Allen because he's afraid he might get hurt. And everyone elses comments about Peterman needing to select a receiver pre snap based on what coverage he sees being a potential liability i agree with.
  12. I get your logic & i might even agree with it. But thats like saying you bought a ferrari & leave it in the garage because youre afraid it might get damaged... well why did you buy a ferrari then? You made the investment to go out & get it, it serves you no use to just let it sit in the garage. Youre never gonna learn how to drive unless you get behind the wheel imo. Generalized statements on how to handle a rookie qb aside. I think what direction you go in with regards to Josh depends on what you see out of him with the reps he gets. If he looks like he can handle the pressure & remain poised & in control of himself, then throw him out there. I think if Josh feels like the coaches are afraid to put him out there because he might start doubting himself, that in turn could help make him doubt himself too. It goes both ways imo.
  13. Ritchie could've been here if he wanted to. It's not as if the Bills kicked him off the team. He quit on his own. But yeah, that's what we need on our offensive line, another quitter. Sounds like a recipe for success!
  14. I think for the most part, we knew our O Line would be relatively bad... but i don't think we imagined it'd be this bad. Not having Dion Dawkins in there definitely hurt. Having him in there only makes everyone else around him a bit better. But its kinda ironic, they say its harder to find good tackles in this league & easier to find interior guys & here we appear to have the opposite. Poor center/guards & 1 good tackle & the other serviceable. I know we're all hoping that Beane finds some help but at this point I don't know what he really can do. Every team is looking for good OL-men. The best we can hope for is that someone elses trash is better than our trash. If we can find better garbage out there then i guess its still an upgrade? I'll tell ya what though, if the line doesnt improve over the course of the season, theres gonna be a lot of hard questions for Beane to answer as to why they didn't address the position better heading into this year. The writing was on the wall with Wood & Ritchie leaving, it's not like they didn't see this coming. As always I guess we'll just have to hope for the best
  15. This years 1st preseason game was highly anticipated. After last years drought ending playoff game & an offseasons worth of moves capped with Josh Allen's signing, I couldn't wait til this years 1st game. For the game coming up, yeah i'm looking forward to it but I don't put as much weight into it as many have. I wish Allen to light it up of course but I also realize it takes time to learn the ropes & grow into a successful QB. Its gonna be a process. If Josh has a mediocre game tomorrow, I won't think the sky is falling or that we made the wrong choice. Even though you can bet someone here will make a thread claiming he's a bust & remind us about his predraft evaluations of being an inaccurate passer or that we should've drafted Darnold or Rosen. For all the excitement i have with the potential of our team, I try to remain grounded & realistic about our expectations. All things that can be in short supply on team message boards lol.
  16. No, i don't think we take him for granted. During the Tyrod years i think everyone of us realized he was our only legitimate offensive weapon. Our whole offense revolved around him. Anytime we ever got a hint of an injury scare with him, you could feel the collective gasp & fright in the air, that our whole teams success fell in the balance. So no I don't think we take him for granted. The only "negative' to Shady in fans eyes would be his contract or off field "stuff". But the man can play football & is as versatile of a back that we've had here since Thurman Thomas. I also don't think he's gets neglected on a national level. Its our team that gets neglected lol
  17. Tila Tequila huh? Just had to give u a shout out for actually remembering her... She was only around for a short term, very much like Merriman here for the Bills. But I suppose you have a couple good reasons to remember her for haha.
  18. I was lucky enough to be alive when the Rockpile was still in action. I remember not being able to see part of the field due to the support beams being in the way. Looking back on it I'm glad i was able to go to it. Old time stadium right there lol
  19. I like Hughes but to me you gotta factor in how in 2020 he's an UFA & he's approaching that age where players of his type start losing a step... That step that makes Hughes a threat. Some may say he's lost it already. Long term picture will Hughes even still be on this team in a year or 2? With Lawson yet to make his mark in this league & Trent Murphy often injured, with all that in mind I can see where Mack makes sense.
  20. I agree, but with the acquisitions this staff has already made in order to improve our pass rush, its obviously been part of their plan to improve that area. Murphy so far hasn't panned out as they wouldve hoped. Hughes is an UFA in 2020 & Lawson is still a work in progress on the bubble of even making this team kinda guy. Financial plan in place or not, you always make the call to find out what they want so you can factor that into your decision making. In the reverse if we found out that Beane never inquired about Mack when he was available we'd all be thinking wtf. Players of Macks ability don't come around too often & its arguably at a position of need. I'm 100% certain our front office has not only discussed whether or not it makes sense long term, but they've contacted Oakland as well. Doesn't mean they'll do anything about it, but you gotta at least discuss it.
  21. To be honest i'd be mad if Beane didn't make a call. I'd think any competent GM would at least see what the Raiders would want... I'd hope at least he'd do his due diligence.. I'm sure Beane has
  22. I like your idea. However with the exception of this years Draft with a QB being 1st priority, Idk if this regime would ever go into a Draft looking at 1 position over all others. From what i gather they evaluate based on best player available. So it'd be hard to forecast what their desire next Draft would be. It just stinks that we invested good money into Trent (often injured) Murphy. If we can somehow work out the contracts side of things then I'd say lets go for it. Do you trade Lawson who has a better contract & who is younger or do you trade Hughes who is the better player but commands a higher salary? Hughes is also a UFA in 2020 & being over 30 you'd have to wonder when his productivity drops because of it... (or has it already?). I like Hughes but i dont think it'd be a tough choice saying Mack > Hughes. I would prefer keeping Hughes but long term big picture, maybe moving Jerry makes sense in this scenario
