This is an absurd take. The Bills beat them by twenty, outgained them 2:1 and had a 2:1 edge in TOP, ran for 225 yds, held them to 54 yds passing, and did it all with a preseason game plan. The only reason it wasn't a 30 or 40 pt win is because from the 2nd Q on the Bills started burning the clock because the Jets never had a chance.

No disagreement here. Unfortunately, the piss poor LB and DB play all around of late is also shining a giant spotlight on it.

I'm sure this made sense to you when you were typing it, but this is nonsense. The Bills record has nothing to do with a discussion of Maye as a QB, and nowhere in my posts was I crapping on Maye. I was crapping on people acting like the sky is falling because the Patriots beat the Titans... were they really expecting Vrabel to lose that game? Maye's time in the NFL is a small sample size. He's playing well against crap defenses right now. Am I supposed to anoint him as the next Tom Brady because of it? I'm not saying he's not capable of being a top tier QB, I'm saying in my opinion what he's done to date does not put him there at this stage in his career. There have been plenty of examples, Tua being one of them, of players not being able to continue to ascend after a promising start.

I’m not taking anything away from him or his play. I thought he looked good last season, I think he looks good this season. My comment was directed more at those demonstrating maudlin overreaction to a bad game by the Bills against the Patriots, and an otherwise easy stretch of defenses recently faced by the Patriots. There are people wringing their hands and gnashing their teeth today in response to a Patriots win over the Titans in a manner befitting the loss of a family pet. It would be funny if it wasn’t so over the top LAMPish.

Are we really pooping our pants because of a solid stretch of games against the Panthers, Saints, and Titans in addition to the awful mess the Bills managed to put forth and only lose by 3? He looks composed… he’s hardly been tested, though. And as much as I want to punch myself in the face for having to say it, he probably has better coaching behind him at both HC and OC putting him in a position to succeed.

I didn’t get around to washing the slump out of my Bills gear after the NE game. I’m so ashamed.

This team has had the same fatal flaws every season with McD as HC and Beane as GM. We have not been ascending for several seasons, and this season feels like they’re in decline. We are not going to rid ourselves of this defensive philosophy that counts on opponents making mistakes instead of forcing the issue until they fire McD. Might as well bring back Walt Corey for at the good this philosophy has done for us against contending teams. To boot, now we play complementary football by neutering the offense. Awesome.
