  1. I also think Singletary and Moss are pretty capable backs. Both are young and on dirt cheap contracts. The reason this team doesn't run the ball that well is mostly due to how effective the passing attack is. However a strong ground game is there if needed or as a complement.
  2. The Bills have 5 critical free agents, D.Willaims, Mongo, Milano, Levi Wallace and Roberts. Four starters and a critical special teams player. They need to worry about retaining these 5 players or at least as many as these players as possible while also adding a piece or two to secure another deep run.
  3. Seems like an odd thing as I could swear that 9-7 is one of the more common NFL records. Every year it seems like 3-4 teams that mark.
  4. Cutting Murphy and rolling over more money into 2021 would have made a lot of these tough choices coming up this spring just a bit easier. They could have easily rolled over Murphy's 8 million and used that to resign Feliciano and have some money left over.
  5. The Bills made a calculation that Quinton Jefferson and Mario Addison in 2020 would be better than Shaq Lawson and Jordan Phillips would be in 2020. I was disappointed in Addison's lackluster sack totals but he was a solid DE who played better than his sack total and Jefferson was a great rotational DT. Shaq has been a positive for Miami but not really that much of a difference maker his contract asked him to be and Jordan Phillips has largely been forgotten in AZ. All in all I think McBeane made a positive calculation about the future values of Shaq and Phillips.
  6. Flores isn't a fraud, he took a 5 win team (a team that was obviously tanking and probably had no business going 5-11) and got them to 10-6 with suspect QB play. I think it is obvious he is at least a respectable coach and will be in the mix for COTY. But McD will be in the conversation as well. I also think the Browns coach will be in the conversation. Overall I wouldn't be too upset if any of these coaches won it over McD but it would be nice to see him get some recognition.
  7. I am not sure Lynn would fit, I think he will get an OC position, but I think the passing attack with Josh is clearly the strength of this offense and I am not sure Lynn would be able to craft that type of offense. If Daboll leaves I wouldn't hate seeing Lynn, as he did good with the rookie the Chargers had this year but I think there might either be an internal candidate that is better or another outside candidate that is a better fit. Long story short wouldn't hate Lynn as OC if Daboll leaves but there might be a better fit for Josh than Lynn.
  8. Glad this team was able to sign Stills and get Brown some work against Miami while resting Beasley. Hopefully he is ready for the Colts.
  9. He will get more interviews, hopefully the other orgs don't like him or he doesn't like the other orgs.
  10. The WFT will have another draft and a good amount of cap space to work with to supplement their other needs. With a competent QB in Alex Smith and a moderate amount of talent upgraded to their skill positions and secondary they will be a tough out.
  11. I suspect Allen will finish second in the MVP voting behind Rodgers. Wilson trailed off a bit and fell behind Josh in total TD's and yardage. Mahomes won passing yardage but fell behind on total TD's and total yards. Rodgers is also the veteran guy who hasn't won in a long time for the best team in the NFC this year. All 5 candidates for MVP (Rodgers, Josh, Mahomes, Wilson and Henry) are on teams that won between 11-14 games, so they are all winners who made the playoffs and won their division. Rodgers wins it by a hair but Josh will and should be second place in votes.
  12. The Colts were the best matchup out of the 3 wildcard teams. I don't trust Rivers esp in bad weather, the Colts ground game with Taylor is good but it isn't as lethal as the Ravens or Browns, and the Colts defense is suspect in the passing attack. It would be a major disappointment if this game wasn't a comfortable 2 possession lead late.
  13. They definitely shouldn't get a home game if they are under .500. I also agree with the take that if a division winner is under .500 then a 4th wildcard should open up.
  14. Depends on who they get and how much they give up? Matt Ryan in that short passing system is intriguing as he likely still has a few years left at a high level. If a player like Ryan can be had for a pair of 2nd round picks and he take a modest pay cut the Pats could get going if they find the right pieces. But I also think Billy B likely feels even his own fading coaching career shouldn't come in the way of the team. I think he would rather draft a QB and sign a vet vs trying to hot shot a vet QB. But we will see how this all goes.
  15. I think a Tyrod type vet QB is probably a plan B or C for the Pats, I could see Phillip Rivers being a more likely fall back option if he wants a plug and play vet. I think the path that makes sense for the Pats is to try and trade for an established QB. Matt Ryan, Dak, Matt Stafford and Derek Carr could all be available via trade and I think had for a reasonable price. All of those QB's would represent above average QB play on contracts that (with the exception of Dak) would be not killer considering the position's value. That issue would of course be that they would have to give up a premium draft pick or picks and dig into a lot of your cap space. It will be interesting to see how they go about this.
  16. I think Billy B wants to at least be a competitive 9+ win team without Brady and make the playoffs a few times and win the division without Brady just to show that even with a so/so QB he can still get to 9+ wins because he is such a great coach. I don't think he can realistically expect to compete for a Super Bowl if he can't find a QB. But I think he would settle for in the last 5 years of his career to make the playoffs 4 times and win 2 playoff games. That wouldn't set the world on fire but it would prove that while Brady was an important piece he was still able to field a good team without him. But the dynasty, 12 wins year in and year out, dominance of the division and 72% winning percentage in the post season? That's over unless they unearth a miracle at QB.
  17. I would love to see this team stick with Knox as the starter, I think he has come on strong to end the season. But I do think they should look to find a competent vet TE to pair him with. I hope they can find a better complement to Knox than Kroft who while a decent player who does the more polished stuff that Knox doesn't but isn't reliable health wise. I don't know who is on the market that would make sense for their price range but it would be where I would try to go.
  18. I don't think they pooched the season so much as Billy B took a step back to take several steps forward. Eat the Brady dead cap and other dead cap space, take on the covid opt outs and see what you can make from a depleted roster. Then regroup in 2021 when you can have several starting players return from a season of rest and you have a good amount of cap space and draft picks to work with. Either way, good luck finding a QB that will get you past that 10 win good but not great level, it can take decades to find a competent one let along a franchise QB.
  19. If Stidham was worth playing he would have beaten out Cam in their camp or during their season, they also had several low points in the season where they could have reasonably played Stidham and benched Cam yet they didn't. At one point they were sitting at 2-5 and they could have easily justified playing Stidham in what was already a lost season. Yet they didn't, which to me tells me they just don't see Stidham as the answer.
  20. In the next 3 years (which is about as far out as you can project in the NFL) I don't see the Pats being a bad team. They got 6-7 wins off of a roster depleted due to dead cap and opt outs. They won 12 games last year with an elite ST and defense. In 2021 they will get back key players on defense and the O-line from the Covid opt outs and they will have the cap space to supplement additional needs on their roster as well as a decent selection of draft choices higher than they are used to. They will not be an easy out in 2021. However unless they find a QB I don't see them being more than a 10 win competitive team that won't get past the divisional round. Billy B will keep that defense and special teams units strong but the offense won't be good enough to make serious noise in the playoffs and Billy B isn't a spring chicken. Billy B is 68 years old and will be 69 next season. He doesn't have 10 years to build back up the team and find a QB. I can't see him coaching more than 5 seasons (and 5 seasons is generous but possible) and as this franchise knows it can take decades to find a decent QB let alone a franchise QB. So the Pats will be a pesky team that can run the football, play good to great defense and elite ST play. But if they can't get a good QB (let alone an elite one) then they will be stuck in the good but not great category for a long time.
  21. Every time I see Stidham I don't see a good QB. I think Cam brought a running dimension to the team that Stidham wouldn't have brought. Honestly any QB they realistically could have found dropped into that dumpster fire (no WR's, suspect O-line, no TE's and a banged up RB situation) of an offense was doomed to fail. There is only so much good coaching could make up.
  22. Who was a better option for a capped out team drafting late in a so/so QB class? Genuinely asking because while I think Cam wasn't the alternative I am not sure who they could have gotten that could have gotten this ass team 6-7 wins. Cam for all his faults had the team at 6-6 and doesn't impact their cap long term.
  23. Ford I think was playing well at guard before he got hurt. But Ike has come in and been impressive. However I think Mongo has been the Xfactor on the Oline. He not only is a mauler but he has the intangibles that seems to improve the play of the unit. I also think that Williams has played better and better as they year has gone on which has helped the overall play of the oline.
  24. Both guys are good. The Bills can pick up Edumonds 5th year option and let him ride another year and still have one year remaining on his deal. Milano is great but he gets banged up a lot. Tough decisions for McBeane but ***** it let it ride just live in the now.
