The fallacy of Allen being the bigger "risk" than Rosen
DasNootz replied to Magox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The two aren’t mutually exclusive. Its td also widely accepted that QBs under 6’2” aren’t successful, QBs with multiple concussions are at higher risk... pick the stat that supports your opinion and roll with it. Bottom line, the Bills identified their QB and made the necessary move to secure him. That’s what we all collectively wanted. -
The fallacy of Allen being the bigger "risk" than Rosen
DasNootz replied to Magox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's also the chance that Rosen has already reached his potential, while its widely accepted that Allen has considerable room to improve. -
3 years. Year 1 -sits. Year 2 - competes for starting job, takes reins at some point. Year 3 - established starter with some experience. After year 3 he has 20-30 games of experience to evaluate.

A-. Had they made the same move and taken Rosen, I, along with many here, would be declaring it a A+. While the Allen pick seems like a wash, rinse and repeat (big arm, accuracy issues, etc) I like that Beane moved up and took “his guy”. He let the board fall to him to a certain extent and kept 22. Then he made a bold move, and the evaluated Allen’s potential ahead of Rosen or any of the others.

Best case Risen slips to 12 and we trade back up in the first to get a quality guard or tackle in the first. worst case, QBs go 1-2-3 and we have to trade up for Allen

It snuck up on me this year. Do you think we should go QB in round 1?

Show Me Your Allegiance! Trade Up or Stay Put POLL

I want Rosen or Mayfield. I think both are available without selling out. I have no problem moving up before the Dolphins, but I don't think it's necessary to move up to the Giants' 2 at the expense of the 22 and next year's 1st too. I think it's entirely possible that we see both still on the board at pick 10. -
PAuline: agreement in principle with giants
DasNootz replied to *******'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed - it comes down to who they value as "their guy". If they value Rosen or Mayfield, there's a possibility that either is still available at 12, and a strong possibility that they'll only have to get in front of Miami to have their pick of the two. If they value Darnold or Allen, they likely have to move up to 2 to make sure they get "their guy". Personally based upon all of the information that's available to the common fan, I'd rather have Rosen or Mayfiled AND 22 AND one of our seconds, AND both 3rds AND next year's 1st, rather than Darnold or Allen and one 2nd, one 3rd and no 1st next year. -

so wouldn't that say that there is no agreement in place...? -
Darnold, Mayfield or Rosen in that order. I'd be happy with any, and if the Browns take Allen at 1 and Giants take Barkley, it's entirely plausible that one Mayfield or Rosen makes it to 12.

Gronk to be traded before start 2018 season - Boston Radio
DasNootz replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think it works like that in the NFL... if there was a 7 game series, sure, they'd probably win. When the playoffs and Superbowl are one and done, the best team doesn't always win. Even if they were 80/20 favorites in two playoff games and the superbowl, they'd only be coin-flips to win it all. -
I'm still suffering flashbacks to the last Saint we had here...

Who is the better bridge qb Tyrod or AJ McCarron?
DasNootz replied to longtimebillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
McCarron + 65th pick + 6-7 million dollars more in cap space to surround the rookie with talent is a far better "Bridge QB" scenario than what we had a week ago. I honestly believe that Tyrod will be a good stabilizing factor for Cleveland, but I like our chances of becoming more than just an annual Wild Card contender more today than I did last week. -
Additions you like to see from here on out?

Pugh would be a nice upgrade, but I don't know the cost. I'd move him back inside to Guard. -
Lost in QB buzz... No help at WR or TE
DasNootz replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Clay and Benjamin produced at high levels in the past. Streator was productive in Oakland. I honestly think our WR/TE core isn't as weak as many believe, and I'm confident with a QB change and offensive change, each is capable of producing at a much higher level than what we've seen of late. I think we will see a significant offensive improvement if we can bolster our line now that we've made a QB change. -
What if Cleveland traded up from four to the giants number two? Cleveland could then take Barkley and the quarterback of their choice to sit behind Tyrod. The Giants could still take Nelson at four or trade back further for another team to get Qb 3 and probably pick up a pair of clevelands 2nd and 3rds.

So are we the only team left in the Foles market?
DasNootz replied to 947's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They don't need to trade him either.. He has significant value to the organization, and his contract isn't killer. He and Wentz combined make less than 1/2 of the starting QBs in the league. -
Sal C’s “Dear Browns fans....” about Tyrod Taylor
DasNootz replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tyrod will be a good fit for Cleveland. He provides stability at the position and doesn't turn the ball over, by all accounts he's a good clubhouse guy, and his elusiveness can help mask line issues. His limitations would prevent us to get to the next level... but for a team that has won only one game in the last last two seasons, he makes perfect sense as a bridge while they develop a rookie this year. -
What did we give up to move up? To move from up over 10 spots in the first, we didn't give up either 2nd?
-
Would you trade Hughes+picks to Giants for 2nd?
DasNootz replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we're imagining fairytale scenarios... why not trade both 1sts and Tyrod Taylor for Cleveland's #4. Cleveland can take Barkely #1, get a QB upgrade and have picks 21 and 22, while we get chance at a franchise QB. -
In Bill's defense - he did have Kelly Holcomb as a backup to Manning at the time. If only Kelly would have gotten a chance to start like Brady did.... oh wait.
