  1. Past hour
  2. so I don’t get why they would want Davis then , or do they plan on having both on the 53? They must know what Davis has to offer better than anyone else…
  3. Anything that can help our defense is a good idea
  4. Agree with you there too, but do think there's also a better chance you'd see Shenault take snaps at WR than Codrington taping snaps at CB Maybe, but think he's less or a terrible receiver that Codrington is a terrible CB
  5. maybe im prejudiced because i can't stand diggs but imo both those plays were more about players other than the wr...i mean allen made a throw on that 2pt play that zero other qbs make and the miracle in minneapolis miracle was the safety miraculously missing the tackle on diggs and simultaneously taking out the corner which allowed the td. i mean it was a memorable play but hardly amazing or clutch
  6. Yet Davis was not available much in his time in Jax and he still dropped catches he should have made. This , imo , would be a failure on multiple levels Should he have be resigned in the first place if you’re willing to bring him back , tho prob a cheaper price? Given all the issues with receivers , and bad contracts Beane has done with WRs , should he perhaps apologize to the radio personalities and fans he got snippy with who were critical of him not drafting any wr other than a 7 th rounder who is already not making the team? This is another example of Beane failing to provide Allen w adequate support, and being arrogant about his wr corp while they frankly have underperformed. We were the only team shut out last week and it’s obvious our wr corp keeps faling to make plays. Just compare Allen’s support wr corp to what Burrows has in Cincinnati; it’s startling! We are so desperate now to consider bringing in Davis , known for critical drops and unavailability? That’s a joke Beane is totally responsible for. Compare our preseason to watching teams like the bengals and Washington, or even Chicago. It’s the quality of individual performances by Bills players that’s is just frankly poor quality to the eye test , below the quality of other teams backups. Again , our o was THE ONLY TEAM SHUT OUT THIS WEEK. Even tho the score or w/ l means nothing , there is a bigger picture of or wr corp dropping balls , unavailability with multiple guys , and lack of playmaking. Backups on every other team at least allowed their offenses to score. I know our starters should be adequate , but there is no promise year to year. Every year we have stretches of WRs unavailable to injury , so backups matter. I can’t believe they want to look at Davis but not utilize a guy with potential like shavers who has been consistent this year. If they sign davis rather than roster shavers , this would be the first time I would begin to lose faith in McD and Beane ,,repeating the same things that they failed to reach the sb in the past. Beans signings like Samuel’s , Moore just look lackluster ; hollins proved to be a good addition but they let him end up in New England. Scores in preseason may mean nothing , but you can judge the talent of backups compared to other teams backups. We have looked fundamentally bad and imo , we have played some of the worst football of all teams in the two games so far. It’s fair to have opinions on the quality of the backup players , given this teams injury history come playoff time, given this is supposedly a SB competing roster. Revising Davis is a failure of beanes process , including not addressing that position earlier in the draft. We were the ONLY TEAM shutout , so it’s fair to say there is honest room for concern and so far we have no proof the o will continue to be productive. They better be as this d has shown no solutions to last years 3 rd down or long yardage d failures. Thats not overreacting, it reacting to the talent level observed in actual competition. THE STARTERS are great. Yet they are never available 100% of the time , excluding Allen. The entire roster matters. The ravens will be a big challenge as will a 17 game schedule. We need to get the one seed. I’m not sure I feel confident this roster as it is now looking will have enough talent. Mcd 7 playoff wins , Allen 6 playoff wins , both most with no SB appearances. The process may not be ultimately working.
  7. Shavers plays outside, seemingly has more big play potential and plays ST. Definitely a better depth option than Davis IMO.
  8. A #1 receiver who was a Top 5 receiver while here and is still a solid receiver elsewhere. His biggest problem is with his ego and how it effectively killed his career with the Bills. Diggs wanted to say he created Allen when he was more akin to a “mentor” and fellow beneficiary for Allen. Allen blew up in part due to his talents added to Cole Beasley’s consistency. Allen then lifted all boats from there as he gained confidence in himself and his teammates being capable of great things. But unlike Allen, Diggs didn’t see it as a symbiotic relationship but as a crutch that would collapse without him. You even see him sort of realize that he was wrong after his injury and watching Allen again and his MVP campaign.
  9. Been in a training semina all day. Can we sign him but put him on PUP? He's still recovering, right?
  10. When Babich starts chewing a swizzle stick I'll be concerned.
  11. I’d rather try Shavers first before returning to Davis. Davis plays well in the 3/4slot WR with a very straightforward route set. I’d fear the OC would go back to what he was doing his last year here which was a mess with route options which Allen and Davis never guessed the same thing. Plus we know what Davis is with his catching issues already and the fewer butterfingered receivers the better.
  12. I agree, everybody knew there was to much money and greed not to expand. Might as well throw all 134 teams into a tournament with group play and then knockout rounds and skip the regular season. As for the SEC and BIG, let them just go off on their own.
  13. But isn't that the problem with such a negative Bills' mindset? Good moves they make are simply luck? It is a really nonsensical point of view, makes zero sense. Just something to throw out into the ether to make them look bad. Completely unsupportable. And then, of course the bad things are almost always their fault. And the rest of the good things? Yup, just luck. Seems like an awful mindset. Lacks objectivity in an extreme manner, to the point of being humorous.
  14. Chevy Chase was the original drummer for Steely Dan
  15. Gabe is only four months older than Tyrell Shavers, both born in 1999, April 1st for Gabe, August 18th for Tyrell - both are 26 years old. Moore is a year younger at 25. Generally people want Shavers to make the 53 to see whether he can do something, he keeps working hard in practice but hasn't got a full opportunity yet to be WR, mostly being a special teamer. Right now I'd assume that Moore is WR4 if the season started this Sunday given Samuel is seemingly injured, Shavers the default WR5 and Samuel probably on IR. Having played three extra seasons than Gabe, Samuel has less than 700 yards extra and has scored less touchdowns, 29 for Gabe versus 23 for Samuel. For me there is not much upside in Samuel, age 29 and injured a lot and to my knowledge doesn not play ST but dead money comes into it. If Gabe does come back I am not going to dwell on the past, can he be a dependable WR4 this season? If he's back we just have to root for him to do well.
  16. In my league I've been awarded the #1 pick. Who would you guys take? This league is very high scoring and RB's are the obvious premium picks (last years season totals below). The top 9 RB's in this league outscored Ja'marr Chase. I'm thinking of taking Jahmyr Gibbs but I can make a case for Bijan as well. I'm thinking the workload for Barkley and Henry are managed more closely this season as to have them feeling great in January. 2024 season totals: Barkley 520 points Henry 489 Gibbs 456 Bijan 453.5 Jacobs 415.5 Kyren W. 403
  17. I'm curious how much snow they get in the stadium. Most heavy snows in Buffalo have wind as well, and I think the idea is that the way the stadium is designed to deflect the wind, it will also keep a lot of snow out, as well. It's a bit like the way the wind in the back of a pickup is designed to circulate when it's driven, creating a kind of wind lid over the bed. I think that's the plan anyway....curious to see how it works out in practice. Not sure if someone has mentioned but it also has permanently installed grow lights, which is pretty cool.
  18. I mean I haven't seen a breakdown of the play calling vs you're going up against a Ben Johnson offense without any game planning and you really need to game plan and play as a cohesive unit against his offense, even one where Johnson likely just played vanilla stuff and didn't game plan either. Especially where the Bills played really well in that joint practice...I think someone earlier in the thread (I read it somewhere and it was a good point) that the Bills were likely trying to get players on islands and seeing how they would react and what choice they would make in that situation...especially where there might not be a correct answer, cause Johnson is trying to make it so no matter what you do individually you're wrong...which is why you need to play as a cohesive unit in general, but especially against that offense. Long way of saying I'm sure there could be more than one explanation for it...like the Bills have had a lot of success playing highly vanilla defenses, even if they have struggled in the playoffs (Caleb Williams isn't Joe Burrow right now)...they disguised and rolled coverages really well during that time...I'd love to know if the defense had the ability to audible at the line and the real issue was they were intentionally sending in play calls that might not win early in the game and seeing if the play was properly diagnosed and audibled...obviously they didn't game plan, but Joe Marino was talking about a play where they blitzed and they ended up with Codrington on DJ Moore either for a td or a big first down...that seems like a situation that might call for an audible...
  19. My opinion is that rookies should occasionally flash, but any kind of real impact you get from them in Year 1 is a bonus. Second year players should become more consistent and dependable. Still room for growth, but making positive contributions. By the middle of a guy's third season, you usually have a pretty good idea what kind of NFL player they are going to be for the long-haul (in most cases). With that said, part of the problem with most of the Bills 2024 draft class is that almost all their picks haven't even gotten a chance to sniff the field. That's because much better players are above them, and will remain so for the foreseeable future. Not much you can do when a Pro-Bowl player is already at the position. The only guy we've really gotten an extended look at is Keon Coleman. He definitely flashed as a rookie, and has been one of the stars of training camp. - The story with Cole Bishop has been injuries and missing training camps. The opportunity is there for him to take the starting role, but he's just lost so much development time. Hard to judge where he's at until he actually gets onto the field. - DeWayne Carter is probably the biggest bust of the group so far. Day 2 pick at a position where he could be making a real impact in the D-Line rotation. But he never did anything as a rookie, and is already getting outshined by the guys in this year's class. - Ray Davis was probably drafted as the heir-apparent starter at RB. He's looked pretty good in limited time. But then James Cook had a huge breakout season and signed an extension. So barring injury, Davis will likely be stuck as the #2 for the remainder of his time in Buffalo. That doesn't make him a bad pick. - Sedrick Van Pran-Granger and Tylan Grable are both stuck on the bench behind Pro-Bowl O-Linemen. And both have been injured this offseason. Maybe SVPG gets a shot next year if we don't bring back Conner McGovern, but it's hard to see Grable becoming more than a swing tackle with Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown above him. Like Davis, this doesn't make either guy a bad pick. - Javon Solomon and Daequan Hardy have both flashed as potentially decent depth players in this league. Can't ask for much more out of 5th and 6th Rounders. Overall, I think we can be happy if Coleman and Bishop develop into good starters. None of the other guys really have a clear path to even reach the starting lineup, regardless of how they play. Davis, SVPG, Grable and maybe Solomon can be important depth players going forward.
  20. It's a system where if Buffalo gets 50 mile winds again like the game against NE a few years back, they can take 20 mile per winds and spread the additional 30mph over the next 4 home games.
  21. Today
  22. I'm fine rolling with Hancock in the box. He's athletic and seems to have good instincts. Hope he wins it.
