Switzerland also has gun control laws that most Second Amendment enthusiasts would find onerous, if not downright tyrannical. A multitude of factors (culture, socioeconomic mobility, accessibility of mental health resources, etc.) beyond gun regulations and police force budgets, of course, explain why violent crime levels are much lower in Europe than in the United States. Rhetorical question for MAGA: if the presence of military forces is so effective at reducing crime, why haven’t previous American presidents tried this ingenious method of combating crime?? Rhetorical answer: because the history books are filled with lessons on the dangers of allowing standing armies to preside in urban civilian settings. Much of our U.S. Bill of Rights was inspired by these historical lessons! Foucault’s imperial boomerang theory, as applied to WW2 fascism and apropos to Trump Redux, only reinforces these lessons that our Founding Fathers understood well in 1789. What I actually find most alarming among MAGA, more so than their cultish disregard for Constitutional principles, is their emergent dehumanizing language toward homeless people. Low empathy and low intelligence are dual dangerous ingredients used in the concoction of creeping fascism. So wakey-wakey, MAGA a-hole dullards!! If you normalize authoritarian tactics, that tyrannical boomerang is coming back your way. Oh, Empress AOC will make sure of it…

Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season Game 2

I actually thought Jordan Hancock showed something last night. He still has some things to learn, but I'm not sure Bishop has ever looked as good as Hancock. -

If you are cutting Hamlin, do it now...
Einstein replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
I said this all last season and people mocked me constantly. He has neverrrrrrr been good. Problem is they don’t have anyone to replace him with because they missed badly on Cole and have made no other real moves to solidify the safety position. Rolling into another season with often injured Rapp and liability Hamlin wasn’t a good idea last year and isn’t a good idea this year. -
I have come here to drink coffee and kick ass, and I'm all out of coffee.

Cutting Hamlin should happen. That would be a great story line for Hard Knocks. But it won't happen. -
Second Chance Diner, been there several times since it's near where we get our groceries. They were so busy, that they moved down the street just this month to a larger location. Their staff has shirts that on the back says "we know the owner too". Definitely a must stop if you're in the area and hungry.

If you are cutting Hamlin, do it now...
May Day 10 replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
He runs like molasses (in comparison to nfl athletes), he is not physically at all, and is late to nearly every play. All it seems he can do is dive at a ball carrier's shins. But apparently he knows the defense and can be trusted. They really need to monitor the cut wire in attempt to improve the safety position. Not sure they could cut Hamlin at this point due to the state of the position group. Even if they added a safety. -
Codrington, the entire OLine and Buffalo Joe all had b r u t a l nights. 38-0 is a statement. I’m just trying to figure out what it says.

If you are cutting Hamlin, do it now...
Captain Hindsight replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
There is no evidence of this. Hamlin started most of the year last year because Cole Bishop was so bad and they had no one else. People need to stop acting like the Bills keep trotting Hamlin out like he’s a make a wish kid. He’s a legit NFL player and a backup caliber safety. Blame Beane for giving the coaching staff no viable option to replace him -

They may cut Cole Bishop. Which would be shockingly early but he sucks. PS, I love how Ben Johnson plays offense. Even in the pre-season. So hard to defend, even with limited QB’s. -

Bishop starting to look like a bust to me. It wont stop McD from putting him out there but I have a feeling we’re going to regret that -

What is the argument here? That because he was the victim of an unfortunate freak accident (that ended up turning out okay), he just automatically gets a roster spot in perpetuity? -
Can you even comprehend how overfilled with joy I will be if you're actually right? I will physically break down and sob an eighth ocean's worth of dino tears of joy if you are. I hope for it more sincerely than a four year old hopes for Santa Claus to come down the chimney with whichever video game system is hype that year. I will consume more popcorn than all the theaters in all the suburbs in all of America, enjoying the ever-loving-captial-"F" outta the moment the NFL body-slams that turd-burgling, race-car smashing, playbook leaving, finger-waving-at-justice Rice. Let's sit back and watch. Either way, I win: I'll be right or I'll be happy.

Does there need to be a rethinking of the basic D?
dorquemada replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Somehow, despite all the draft capital spend on the DL, we don’t have the horses to put pressure on the QB. I’m not sure what can be done schematically to compensate for personnel. We’re told that McD is a defensive genius, and if you don’t believe it just ask him, so we have to assume the scheme is optimized for the players and we have a season of the opponents converting 3rd and long over and over. -

<bills4life> replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
If this is the case then beane needs to get on the phone and package epinesa plus a fifth for someone who can come in and start without being a liability. Because here again it will cost again in the playoffs against better qbs. -
If Putin gets to keep Crimea and the Donbas region, then NATO+EU membership and full war reparations should be Ukraine’s BARE MINIMUM expected return! If Trump is worth his alleged “art of the deal” reputation, then he should also be able to negotiate for substantial Russian territory and/or natural resources awarded to Ukraine. What’s obviously complicating these negotiations is the fact that Russia has been so surprisingly good at shielding themselves from international economic blowback, particularly with regard to energy resources. I’ll also remind everyone that Trump and the United States hold no higher ethical ground over Putin with regard to border integrity and international human rights. Our funding of the Gaza genocide and Likud’s Greater Israel project has consequences, with compromised diplomacy being an acutely stark example.
