Yup Good FO for a bad team Bad FO for a good team

Watched some of the Steelers game yesterday. They are not an offensive juggernaut. Stop TJ Watt on defense and they are average. Overall, I think the Bills will win on the road, which has been a struggle for them.

So, let's go over the Bills FO script....... 1) we may or may not make the post season this year a) we make the post season and get bounced out due to poor play calling/game planning and below average talent (same as it's been for 8 plus years) b) we don't make the playoffs and that's the end of the season 2) we invest heavily in D in next year's draft a) McD and Beane are forever chasing that unicorn on D and will stop at nothing to obtain it......they haven't found it yet, but by God, they'll ruin this franchise and our QB's career trying to obtain it b) we crap shoot our draft picks and just hope that something pans out (which seems like they throw darts at the board for their picks each year or picking up players who don't fit out schemes) 3) we invest nothing of substance into our O a) invest the whole draft into our O (never going to happen.......the great and powerful McD would never allow it) b) invest nothing into our O at draft time and actually be surprised that it's not working out (and sadly, this is what usually happens) 4) be the smartest ones in the room a) pick players that no one else has even taken a 2nd glance at in the draft cause every one of them is a diamond in the rough and our FO knows more than every other team b) game plan and play calling that no one else will ever see coming.......you know like, run, run, pass or nickel and/or dime on D every snap 5) Free Agency a) be the 1st at the trough to sign those below average FA's and hope that something pans out........you know, instead of splurging for one or two really good players, bring in 12 mediocre or bring back players that no other teams want (also see point #4 - be the smartest ones in the room) b) sign zero FA's (you know, like Beane said we didn't have a WR problem, then tried to sign one at the deadline but it didn't happen) 6) cap situation a) sign mediocre players to ridiculous contracts and wonder why there's no more money left to make any plays b) sign no one, still have cap issues because of errant contracts in the past I could go on and on and on, but this is generally the script that our FO has written over the past 8 seasons........it's like clockwork, for gods sakes and it will remain like this for the remainder of this FO's tenure. You know what next year will look like?!?.........exactly what we've seen the past 8 years. The Bills FO script will remain the same each and every season.

No, I’m putting the Raiders ownership group in a better boat for making the changes required to improve. Buffalo has a generational talent and the owner is content with the status quo…a home playoff game or two and selling PSLs.

Good news is if Stafford can be playing this well at age 37, there is hope that in a Beaneless era Josh can too. If Brady doesn't get him killed before then.

this is correct. we try in the first 3 series to do a big play on 1st down and it doesn't work. so we give up on any big pass. to comment further recycles every thought ever. i hate being a fan of this team right now. Allen isn't confident to get those wins in the long ball, whether it is the receiver or the coverage or the play called or luck - it is hurting his confidence that much is clear.

How much did you pay for gas and groceries today?

My sister and her husband are having me, my nephew and his daughter over. Her daughter is living in Germany and her other son has passed. We used to have about double, but with some passing and my brother going to his wife's kid's house that is what we have. We have a turkey roll for the white meat and deep fried turkey fried in the driveway far away from the house. -
I think the Seahawks are better. Seahawks dominated them and only lost because of Darnolds 4 turnovers. They still had a chance to win and made the game winning field goal but called that time out. Then missed it. Game was in LA. Seattle had twice as many yards. More than twice as many first downs almost twice the time of possession.

I could see Kelly coaching at mid tier college somewhere. That's where his offense belongs

I like baseball analogies Trump hit a home run with Rubio! Trump hit a solid double with Bessent he struck out with “Vance” and Hegseth and Trump slipped and fell on his azzz in the batters box with that druggie RFK Jr.

They could play their entire backup O-Line, and our pass rush won't sniff Drake Maye. I can't believe anyone would still be holding out hope for the AFC East title. It's not going to happen. I'm not even sure a Wild Card is realistic the way this team has been playing.

Game week thread - Bills at Steelers
Pine Barrens Mafia replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, well. Team sucks. You'll just have to get used to complaints. This is a drought-level team, even with a QB -
So I ran the numbers on 10-7 and the Bills most likely get in as long as their 3 wins are AFC given the tiebreakers they have as they gets them to 10-7. Even if they lose to PIT and go 10-7 they have the edge on BAL/JAX if those two are wildcards. Where things could get squirrely is if the Texans get to 10 wins & the Steelers get to 10 wins and that is our competition for the final spot. Houston does not have an easy schedule left with IND 2x, KC, LAC out of their remaining 6. A Bills win over PIT would really help to put some distance in the wildcard race and add another tiebreaker, but as long as they are 10-7 with all three wins AFC they still have a solid look at the playoffs.

Back to the OP - hard disagree. Its verging on nonsense. I can see the logic tracking with a substandard QB - "well the scheme would work if he could just execute it properly" But it falls apart when you see multiple years. There are a few blowhards on here diving into posts effectively saying 17 is not executing properly, this guy was open, that guy was open, he should have thrown that away blah, blah, blah - as though Allen just appeared on planet earth. In that case how did he execute it properly last year? To the tune of historic low turnovers and an MVP!?! Is he not trying any more? Did he just forget? The reality is DCs spent time studying how to beat it* - and they are regularly doing so now. And so it looks crappy. And that is directly correlated to the OC just running it back - which is an OC issue. Not a QB issue. *Something to think about for Babich and McClappy 🤣🤣 They do tend to adjust well second half - but it makes you think that what they saw in the first half was different than they expected - I. E. They ran into a good OC!

All those defenses give up big yardage, which sets up much better situations for Allen than Houstons #1 D did. So realistically they at least get 3 of those games
-
Yeah?....Well the Da Bears scored 31 with a new coach and it pisses me off. I took the Jets and the points, the Titans, the Giants, Atlanta (moneyline) and I figured I'd take the Pitt defense.....and Chicago scores 31? WTF? I'm talking hundys here. Lesson I guess is....Look at the new coaches and what they are doing. Heck, AAron Glenn could also be giving us trouble going forward. I think we need a change. Hell give me Jon Gruden, Mike McDaniels and Wink Martindale. There would be no question on identity.....Kickin ass and takin names.

If the offense is THAT bad again, Brady has to go. I don't care if McDermott calls the offense, too many times where we telegraphed the plays and were instantly stopped.
-
Going to be interesting for the O-Line, will it be stability or transition? For example, next year, would we risk an line that consists of RVD-Grable-SVPG-Anderson-Brown? Those 4 guys would have waited at least 2 years for their opportunity to start on a full time basis, plus Lundt as OL6. Dawkins should go after this year, his play is in decline unfortunately and seems to be becoming a distraction. I would let McGovern and Edwards hit FA. Torrence might be our only trade chip in the offseason and he will be due a big $ contract after his rookie deal. We just don't look that good in pass protection, I believe Morse was well respected in helping call the protections. What should be our strength isn't looking that way at present and we need Coach Kromer to elevate the new talent.
-
You are not going to get me to disagree at all here... they are desperately trying to use these folks and getting them injured worse... I have no idea, but Spencer Brown if taken out is he day to day... and now he is an IR candidate? I dont like making excuses but the Ravens and the Bills definately got the short end of the injury bug... I am not sure I have seen anything like this.... but it was the same last year as well... to the point I am looking at the composition of the team saying are we way small, unconditioned, scheme is bad , or just been flat out unlucky for the last several years.

They rank 17th in DVOA. It's a fringe wild card team masquerading as an actual contender. The fall will be violent.
