Why do people think sources should be named? It's not how news works. Watergate anyone? We found out Mark Felt was the source about 30 years later. Happens all the time...according to a white house official...according to a pentagon official, etc..Reporters protect their sources all the time.

I don't know if I'm right, but I think one factor is that McDermott, coming in as a head coach, deliberately did not want a "stars and guys" type D. He wanted a "buy in, do your job" type D. This stems directly from him taking over Jim Johnson's D in 2009 and getting fired in 2010. The D went from 4th to 19th/21st and one of the "lessons learned" he took from it was "make sure guys buy in to your system". That seems to me how McDermott's D is designed to work - everyone know their job and do their job. The problem is, if we pile up too many injuries and have too many guys hobbled or replaced by guys who can't quite get 'er done, there aren't any "freakazoids" on D who can take the game over and change it with a play. I thought it was pretty clear when McDermott came here as head coach, that he valued guys who he thought would buy in to his system above "freakazoids". IT's why he stuck with Star Lotulelei and some other DL players as long as he did. I think he reluctantly changed after 2021, which is why Beane "swung for the fences" signing Von Miller in FA - he hadn't managed to draft a DE "freakazoid" at the end of the first/top of the 2nd, so he decided he'd buy one. We all know how that worked out.

I think everyone is aware that weird things happen whenever Buffalo visits Houston. Let's keep that in mind. He must not practice well because every time he's given an opportunity he shows flashes.

18 game schedule. Reduce the preseason to two games at most. The starters barely play in them and then the players will probably want a 2nd bye week included if they go to an 18-game schedule. This alternating between the NFC and AFC who gets 9 home games every other year is dumb.

if garrett keeps it up for another like 8 seasons he can be as good or better than bruce, which goes to show how insane smith was. white and taylor and d thomas were all insane otherworldly talents, but none of them were as good as bruce IMO. he was a wrecking crew pass rusher and sick vs the run as a 3-4 end. the only guy close to that from that position since was jj watt, he was a monster and he was clearly head and shoulders below bruce. i remember a game, i think a prime time game, where pittz had dermonte dawson (hof c) and i think something was said in the media and bruce slid over to him on one play and turned him into a cross between an effete and slinky ballerina and a loose turnstile. the announcers even commented how shockingly easily bruce just walked past him on that play. if you put smith on this team starting the same year as allen the debate would be if the current bills have a chance to be the greatest dynasty ever. lol, i said 8 years too. you scooped me but i was typing it before your post appeared. you win this one 716

I'll agree with your points but even without a top end outside WR we've had a top end offense. To me a top end NT to me make us a better team though. And no Ed Oliver is not a top end NT to me.

When my son had his first playoff game this year, I cancelled my entire trip to Carolina after I bought flights. That was only the first round....6rounds later, East Aurora won their first ever Class A State Championship. I can tell you right now, that was a MILLION times better than if Bills or Sabres were to evert win the big one.
