I'm assuming the coaching staff didn't like how the players were limiting the run up the middle so they signed Phillips so the run up the middle wouldn't be so limited for the opposing teams. He cant stop the run. He never has. I say this and I like the guy.
-
FTR I’m ok with the Carter pick. The process was sound - that’s the going rate for a 1T and it’s better than overpaying for one in free agency. I never liked the player (pretty sure I predicted bust at the time) but I can forgive a swing and miss there. It’s the pro personnel garbage I am really getting fed up with. This is the “idea” Beane’s pro personnel scouts are bringing to him in late August? The same guy they’ve signed over and over again? These guys are clowns when it comes to pro personnel scouting, they completely suck at it.

He also made the third most total XP and had the 17th best XP kicking percentage. So he had a very average season. I don't know what the agenda is here or why you'd try to use raw misses without also pointing out the number of makes and attempts.
-
No problem. Lotta sources leaving his injury out of the headline. Guessing that is to encourage clicks.
-
DT was a need. Seems like a need based pick and not the best player available. Maybe best available DT but so far not great.
-
I'm not trying to argue too much. But DT was/is a significant need, and there really isnt anyone else jumping off the page that went later in the draft. I remember 2024 being noted as a very top heavy draft, and then talent falling off fast after the first 15-20 picks. Bad pick, sure. But not sure there was a better one there (unlike a Metcalf/Brown over Ford).

Thanks, I just saw his name, was unaware he was injured.

17th for XP%; right in the middle

This is kinda where I'm at. What is concerning is a loss may have huge implications with seeding at the end of the year. The margin is razor thin for the 1-seed and while there's plenty of football after week 1, you'd hate to be saying "if we only had that first game back!" -
Why Landon Jackson is the next MONSTER in the NFL

This aged well lol -
Not exactly. Cline was waived with an injury designation. He was on crutches after their last preseason game. He will revert to the Iggles IR if unclaimed. That means any team that successfully claims him has to put him on their initial 53. He could then be moved to IR if his injury warrants that - and later activated from it if desired. He's only making $1M this season so it isn’t a lot of cap space, but it’s his only season under contract. Not sure why any team would want to burn $1M in cap on an injured player who gets injured a lot though.

90 .... Bills, Sabres, Knicks, Guardians (Indians)

This is more about the Carter pick, which will go down as one of Beane’s worst. Completely mystifying how you can draft an undersized DT in a premium round given what the needs of the team are.

This to me is all being said in hindsight. There were incredibly long threads on here talking about how the Bills blew it, Hodgins was going to be amazing, on and on and on. No one was saying he was a one trick pony
-
I agree looking at Spotrac I ruled that out but they were speculating there might be some special circumstances due to the suspension. Regardless, it is not a good idea to just keep a guy if he is washed because it looks bad on the books. In some ways I would give Beane credit for a move like that, many GM's just keep hoping. Beane is not immune from that...

I'll feel great if we win the game, but if we lose it, it's not going to get me down. We aren't going to go undefeated. -
If you're looking for safety help, we actually transitioned him to LB

I think if our offense doesn't have a slow start like last year's opener, this is anyone's game. Defensively, if we can avoid 3 to 4 play TD drives (giving up big chunk plays) this will come down to the end. I like us at home. If it were in Baltimore, especially in primetime, I would say we lose. For now, I'm going with a Buffalo win. -
Everybody wants to be an A student, but sometimes life has other plans for us. I don’t really have any teams other than the Bills. The Braves left Buffalo and my interest in the NBA has since dwindled to zero. College basketball used to be my Team #2, but NIL and the portal made that unappealing. Baseball is…..sorry but baseball is just boring. I lost track of hockey when I left WNY for college in the 70’s. I rise and fall with the Bills, but I try hard to keep the highs and lows from being too extreme. .

Problem? No. I think it’s 50/50. This may not sound like a bad thing but could be what keeps him off the roster. He is a better WR than he is a special teams player. I don't think the special teams coach pegs him as one of his core guys. He is a willing body but not a center piece. I think Shenualt could be. Returner and coverage. I think the locker room is behind Shavers. I favor offense and defense over teams but at spot 51,52,53 you best play teams and make an impact doing it.
