A Few Thoughts about the Texans Game - Community Edition

Absolutely true. People are not giving the Houston line enough credit. We still almost pulled it off. Doesn't mean I am loving Brady's dumb offense. -

Allen will win a SB: With a great new HC/GM combo here Get traded to the Rams or something and win it his first year there It won't be with this brass. I've accepted that. -
Time to Rebuild? Too Many Beane Holes.

I have proof the other way. He does not influence individual picks. The positive in McDermott is he is a good football coach. Witness the improvement on 3rd down defense since he took over playcalling as yet another example. Sean McDermott can coach football better than most people on this planet. Do I see an immediate route to it getting better from here for this regime though? No I don't. And I genuinely don't see any benefit in saddling him with a new GM who he doesn't have chemistry with or vice versa Beane with a Head Coach. That never works and just delays the inevitable. -
Sure is and then we play chiefs again next year because they don't make playoffs either.

Football and all sports are a 3 hour escape for me from the doldrums of life. I’ll always enjoy watching the Bills on weekends. -

You could say that about most of the players Beane acquires, or extends. A bunch of overpaid JAGS -
Allen missed a wide open Knox on the final play

We don’t have anyone that can win one on one, but Beasley was here with Diggs and Sanders back when our GM cared about WR’s, so I can see where he’s coming from. He’s also correct that all we run is mesh routes and defenses are completely keyed in on them. When the pass rush comes quick, Josh just has to guess who might pop open. Thanks Dion! -
UFC fighters hug after the fight. WTF is that sh!t?

I'm in favor of McD calling offensive plays. He hasn't liked any of his OC's and taking the offense would finally give him the control he craves. Needed a huge comeback against Baltimore to start. OK. 1-0. Then 3 wins against middling competition. 3-4 since then with bad losses to the Falcons and Dolfelons. This is a team trending down entering the finale third of the season. -

making my point for me, not that a handful of reps should be the measuring stick of a guy there's a lot of evidence to suggest we aren't putting guys in positions to succeed imo. we're married to scheme, on both sides of the ball, and it's showing (easier to see on offense, id say, because we do lack talent there)...there is no reason we can't come up w better gameplans to counter our areas of weakness and exploit our opponents'. we have the pieces on defense. hairston+benford should be a top corner duo, bishop is emerging as a star, we have first round picks up and down the dline. we just don't have the staff to put the puzzle together -
Division is out at this point…have to do it as a wildcard
Success replied to Billsfed1's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not that I'm completely giving up on the season - but I kind of am. We're not passing the eye test in any way right now. Get in the playoffs, and any team can go on a run. But we'd need so much luck, and we're not a good road team regardless. This seems to be more the Pats year. I don't think they're winning a SB, but it's their year to win the division and probably have a deeper run. I'm not okay w/ that, but I'm okay w/ it in the sense that they'll get the tougher schedule next year. IF we have a good offseason, can dump some cumbersome contracts, get a real #1 WR and make needed changes, we'll be in better position next year to grab a top seed. Big ifs, I know. -
It has been less fun than usual this year, that's for sure. Reminds me a bit of the year we had to win out to feel confident about making the playoffs. A lot of weakneses on the team, and Allen isn't getting any younger. I'm starting to think that Beane will turn Allen into another Dan Marino, minus the Superbowl appearance.

I just want to shout out @GoBills808 for coining the phrase “Teflon Sean.” Somehow this guy gets unilateral credit for saving the franchise from the drought, and every good thing that has happened to us since then, and gets to pass the buck when the offense sucks, or the team disappoints or they lose a game. He has the best job on the planet.

I enjoy watching other games, but Bills games have been torture since the 2021 season. I think I might stop watching for a few weeks. -

Bottom line…3-4 in their last 7 games. Forgot SB aspirations, I am not sure this team can win a playoff game. This isn’t a case of the one regular season stinker. Losing 3 road games in which you were the favorite is bad no matter how you look at it. -
While we're talking about the O line, I want to throw a kudo at Connor McGovern. There was a play in the third quarter where he and someone else got hurt. McGovern was lying on the ground, writhing in pain, and the announcers either didn't notice or didn't care about a mere O lineman. Whatever the problem, McGovern gutted it out and finished the game. He probably wasn't as good as he usually is, not surprisingly, but he gave the effort. Between his injury, the injury to Brown, and Dawkins inconsistent attitude, it's no wonder the O line isn't as dominant this year.

I think one of the things taking away the joy for me is that the fanbase cares more about the team than the players do. I am a 42 year old guy. I've spent hours of my life and thousands of my dollars on the team. Meanwhile guys the organization is paying tens, if not hundreds of millions of dollars are saying things like "they just wanted it more than us" or paraphrasing other millionaires by saying his "life would be great" if they didn't win a Super Bowl. Makes me realize these guys are just mercenaries. Have to admit to feeling a bit stupid. -

Shakir is a luxury player. A Deebo type WR4 to play in the slot and backfield. He shouldn’t be our primary slot. And because he is, we can’t play Keon there, we can’t move Gabe or Palmer inside down to down. We’re completely static in our positions which makes us easier to defend. -

It might help against the run if we actually had three legitimate NFlLcapable linebackers. Bills LBs are garbage! -

Watching the Bills, and football in general will always be fun for me. I survived the drought, with it still being fun. VERY frustrating at times, yes. But still love it -
Brady's play calling puts me in mind of Ralph Kramden. Regarding the play selections, it's "I know that you know that you think you know what I know what I'm going to call!" The results are often regrettably "Homina homina homina..."
