Reading the last couple pages of this thread, I gotta tell ya: You come across as a really angry dude who is taking out his frustration on other posters. I've never wanted to denigrate the Catholic Church, as a beneficiary of its superior academic product throughout grammar and high school, but when I got older and looked at the theology, the Papacy, Mary, the Saints and Purgatory led me to move on to another Christian group. Been studying the issue and active for years, and I'm pleased I decided what I did. Hope all goes well, but I'm not invested in it.

I’m an old man. My memory often needs correcting. Have at it. BIlls v Colts, first regular season game of 1990. Highly regarded QB Jeff George makes his regular season debut. He’s sacked 3 times and harassed all day. The Bills win by two touchdowns. Now, my memory. The No Huddle Offense, used to great effectiveness the season before when the Bills trailed late, emerges as the primary offense. When the Bills first take the field, Kelly is not under center and Rich Stadium erupts in cheers. There’d been speculation all off season. The rest is history. I attended.

I'd get on and see someone using my name and having conversations about birds and other sh!t that I would never be having. It was amusing because nothing they could say could be more controversial than my truthful opinions about the Bills. Like the impending salary cap disaster that the majority of the board insisted I was wrong about. TSW @Joe Marino should adopt some controversial takes!

Bump and thank you. This was FAR more interesting than the highlight stuff. I’m hoping and praying this is more that he was getting healthy and he’s playing like 2023 than he’s a contract year kinda guy. If he is healthy and motivated, he truly can be a monster. He seems like a great guy. We deserve some breaks!

As far as random games, the home and season opener in 1988 holds a great memory for me. We had shown promise during the prior strike season and acquired Bennett in the great halloween trade. The team was ready to take the next step and what better way to test that than open against a very strong Minnesota team. It was a beautiful day and the defense played strong, even without Bruce. But our new running back Thurman Thomas was the highlight and we pulled out a tough win to start the season. As we closed the doors of the car after the game, I turned to my friend and said, we might have something here. He said - yeah, a good day to be in Buffalo, turned on the ignition and the 10,000 Maniacs came blaring out of the stereo. As has been noted above, later that season was the memorable Jets OT goalpost game. I stayed safely in my seat, but enjoyed the view.

Sounds real ethical and practicable. Convince a group of people who are rational actors to enroll their kids in a randomized/blind controlled study. 50% chance the kid will get a placebo. Or convince rabid anti-vaxxers who think their kid will turn autistic and never go on a date or play baseball to enroll in that study and have a 50% chance of getting that poison injection. Maybe we should just continue what we've been doing for, oh, 3 or 4 generations of Americans, resulting in the near elimination of measles with no convincing evidence at all of a significant downside?

The MNF Joe Ferguson/Ahmed Rashad beat of the Raiders, (70's) Bills tried to give it away in the last two minutes...giving up a TD return of a fumble after it was won. But, Fergy and Rashad went and got another TD. The guy sitting next to me left after the Bills blew it, but I stayed for the fantastic comeback. And, the next home game, I got to ask the guy next to me if he had heard what happened after he left the prior week!😁

I was at that game. Drove up from Charlotte with my old man to see it. Was not going to miss it for anything as I absolutely hated Cam and the Panthers. That stadium was nothing short of euphoric as everybody was exiting lol. I still remember searching Buffalo high and low in the coming days for an EJ Manuel jersey and literally every place was sold out. Dodged a bullet there, but plenty of other jersey mistakes were made. It's why I didn't feel safe getting an Allen until last year 😂

I figured it wasn’t Joe Marino but assuming no one could come of with “herd mentality” on their own is the part that seemed odd to me. It’s a very common phrase. Now if some Pats podcast dude started the Mr. WEO podcast…….that would be weird.
