The point in question is whether you could eat the 12oz steak yourself. There isn’t a dominant guy for Josh to throw the ball to.
-
Our Strategy was to take away Maye's #1 option in Hunter Henry and stop the run. They did that pretty well. Unfortunately, that opened things up for Diggs. As a fan, that was the worst possible outcome.
-
Yeah it was the first loss but they have not been playing good football. On both sides of the ball really. McDs D is huge problem. Gave up points right before half and gave up points at the end that resulted in an L. To me it was just a matter of time before this was gonna happen. Pats are a team we shouldn’t lose to at this point. This D has been in place for 8 years there should not be so many struggles against average opponents
-
Youre right. I was looking at the snap counts and he is an unquestioned starter. The fact Humphrey picked up a slight injury and Alexander is missing several games negates any chance he moves. I was simply thinking about them signing a one year deal and could move him if the season is a shambles. Im with you on Strong. I don’t think it’s as big a need once the two rookies are back from their injuries. The struggle will be making do until then.

I think it had something to do with Wilson refusing to work in the Paycor Stadium concession booths, making 'Dangerwiches' on the days he isn't starting. "Well, Joe, we'll see how you do, and if we're happy, we'll refund your airfare."
-
What I meant was I think there should be more plays that are designed to get the ball into the hands of one person. I don’t want to make a “get Cook in space” joke, I am dead serious. Why not more screens and short passes ? These are just extensions of the run. The Bills have athletic linemen. Instead Brady wants to run Jet Sweeps with Knox.
-
We just can't.......running the K-gun or hurry-up offense would only allow us to score points quickly (if at all) and then have to rely on our putrid D to hold their ground for too much of the game. And i think at this point, no one wants our D out there any longer than reasonably possible.
-
our biggest needs corner safety outside plus player at WR. we have the rookie who hopefully recovers at CB, i thought we had a rookie who might be able to play safety for rapp, but maybe not, and my one issue with going in for a WR is it will give brady ammo to get out of our dominating formations which he already likes to avoid (multiple TE/backs, few or no WR). based on that, if we can get a JAG at corner for cheap we should because it's just too big of a hole, if we can get a plus safety for cheap that's another slam dunk, and i'd love to have a guy like brown or someone to light it up outside, i don't think that's possible.

Agreed. I said on another thread that Sal on his podcast with Boston sports guys last week discussed the everyone eats ideology and they responded Brady's most successful years in terms of SB and when they team did well was when the Pats did that. They even remarked as fun as the Moss years were it got stale because he demanded the ball so much and the offense was better on a more regular basis when it was a bit more committee based. I thought the Bills offense was behind the Pats defense all night which contributed to not having a hot hand. I also would be really happy to see a WR addition to the team that could add another weapon to Cook, Shakir, & Kincaid who seems to have found his mark. One more guy that can just go rough shot for 6-7 targets a game would diversify the offense just a bit more like we would like. I truly don't understand what our strategy was with Diggs and to his credit he balled out incredibly along with Maye who made some Josh level plays late.

Return of the Tre! (Tre White signs with the Bills)
colin replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
our scheme has the secondary playing much more as a unit than as individual players unless the O can isolate a corner (and it will always be tre). bishop IMO is at least OK this season, tre is really bad, benford is below his average but still a flat to plus player, rapp is legit awful and scared to hit and just floats super deep, and tyron is not so good as a slot corner. -
This times 1000. It's like on hockey boards when a great player like Austin Matthews scores an amazing goal, and everyone analyzes the Sabres' defense to find out who missed their assignment. Sometimes the other guys make great plays.
-
our d is set up to protect the heck out of the trash secondary, gun for negative plays and stuffs on the run, and hope the pass rush gets there for turnovers and incompletes. it stank in the 4th quarter on sunday night with milano out and strong with a horrible neck issue, but over the course of the game it was more than good enough to win. the real strategy failing was putting palmer, samuals, colemna, and shakur out to try to beat the strength of the NE d while the TEs and backs who can dominate them got a total of what, 9 targets? it was also so obvious when we ran or passed.

I've watched that play over and over. The only open throwing lane was to Shakir. Both the OL and DL was between Josh and Keon. He probably couldn't even see him. What he should have done was to either: Throw the ball low and away so only Shakir could make a play on it (Another poster suggest this option, so I can't take credit here) Rush through the lane and pick up a yard or two Roll out and throw it away. Throwing that ball where he did and allowing a CB to jump the route is Josh Allen pre-2024 stuff. There was more of that in this game that I would like to see ever again.

Return of the Tre! (Tre White signs with the Bills)
Livinginthepast replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
There's lots of great feel good stories in sports about players getting a 2nd or even 3rd act after injury or being cut/traded. Maybe some of us (myself included) were hoping for a Brad Marchand of the NHL's Panthers situation where Trey comes in here as a the old vet, regains his form and mentors the young kids to a SB. Unfortunately the eye test from last year of Trey being slow, out of position and compensating with PI (with both the Rams and Ravens) is the reality of it. Yes it was a little bit too optimistic but I am still shocked by how poor Trey has been. I have seen maybe 4-5 impressive skillful plays from him and that's it. He doesnt seem to have the instinctive ability to know where the receiver is compared to the ball and sometimes seems lost out there. Diggs ate him up. -
I’d agree, but we already had an abundance of slot WR types. (This is the other debate.) No point in creating a deeper logjam. What we needed was that guy who can operate outside, gain separation and make the defense afraid. That is harder to come by, and that’s not really what McConkey is, IMO. I loved him coming out of UGA, the guy is just a football player, but we already have a good guy in that role. But yes, I think we need to hit on that guy in the draft. We don’t have $30Mil+ to throw at a proven guy.

The NEW Bills Stadium and the NEW Las Vegas
Kirby Jackson replied to DeepPass's topic in The Stadium Wall
Supply and demand is more appropriate here. The fans are willing to spend on the product. I talked to a high ranking Bills official not too long ago that said they are ahead of schedule with the sales in the new stadium. They wanted to be done by next summer but it’ll be closer to the end of this season. I can only speak for myself when it comes to the new stadium. As a regular guy, I had a limit to what I was willing to spend. I declined the first offering and a week later, found seats that met my needs and budget. That’s how this works. No one is forcing anyone to buy in or not. If you can’t afford it, that’s life. I’d love to drive a Lamborghini around but it’s not realistic so I don’t. I don’t begrudge Lamborghini for pricing me out of the market. Their job is to make as much money as they can. It’s the same concept… -
Game strategy continues to elude McD
Captain Hindsight replied to WIDE LEFT's topic in The Stadium Wall
Right? If they sack Drake Maye on the first play of the drive, the game might be going into overtime or the Bills get the win. Sometimes the other team makes a great play. Maye and Diggs were awesome Sunday and the Bills played terrible and it was a 3 point game. -

he's getting a little over 10% of his snaps from the slot -
if we run and gun out of jumbo sets we walk on small and fast atlanta. our d will have its struggles, but vs NE they cleaned up the tackling some, much better on 3rd down, decent against the run, and just so so awful in the back end, shallow lbs and deep safeties and putrid corner play. they just have to not get toasted in the turnover battle to do enough IMO. we will be getting back the rook corner, rook DT, roid DL, and ed oliver in short order, and our LBs will get more healthy too. i think our d will look good soon enough, we need to control the ball and score long drives, which we are the best in the nfl at doing.
-
Actually the Dolphins was typical - We take the lead 28-21 with 7 mins left. The Dolphins drive all the way down to the Bills 21 yard and milk the clock down to 3 minutes. They are solid position to essentially run the clock down as they tie or even win the game with a point conversation. What happens? Tua throws a pick on a 1st down play when they probably should have been running the ball.

All 22 Review: Bills vs Patriots
BillsShredder83 replied to thenorthremembers's topic in The Stadium Wall
Did you (or anyone else here) notice if hes taken any snaps out of the slot at all? Would love to see some sets where Keon moves in slot.... he can spell Shakir here and there, or line up with 4 WR, both Shakir & Keon in the slot. This feels like it could be especially lethal if we can swing a trade for a real outside WR. Keon feels like a few guys we've had in here recently. Brutal and hated as a #1/#2, very nice surprise and better contributing as a #4. Dude needs to be easier to get the ball to, vs a teams lower tiered CB, but getting the ball in space, already on the move where he can crank up to his top-end speed and physicality after the run. Its so easy right now to remember him as being slow... but its really an acceleration/suddenness problem. While it takes him a while to get there, he looks fast af once hes had time to get to speed. It really frustrates me to not be able to play into that strength of his. Maybe a thunder/lightning duo in the slot could be really fun. I dunno. *Sigh* -
the only answer anyone has found vs our jumbo set was a psycho big front miami had against us, and really we shoulda passed instead of run it against that. a couple passes to cook and ty out of that formation would have extended our drives and broken up the 3 and out middle of the game streak we had, and we'd have walked away early. brady needs "if it ain't broke don't fix it" tattooed on the back of his eyelids.

Game week thread - Bills at Falcons MNF

ha! Hockey and Atlanta do not mix. I had a buddy who moved there for a few years when the Thrashers were there and he said you could get tickets for like $15 and it was all visiting fans.
