MPL Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago If you blitz Burrow, he's going to kill you. If you don't blitz Burrow, he's going to kill you. Your best defense is going to be scoring a lot of points. 1 1 Quote

somnus00 Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Burrow gets the ball out fast. We need coverage to get him to hold on to the ball a little longer, while hoping simulated pressures can get through to him. He basic 4 man pass rush has been getting nowhere near the QBs. Quote

They don’t get home when they blitz, and they don’t hit the quarterback much either. That said, they have affected the qb by blitzing and so they probably should blitz burrow, I’m just not confident he won’t pick them apart. But if they can force a few key stops, the offense should be able to do enough. Quote

Rough him up like they did Mahomes. Every time we play Burrow he sets up back there and has all day to pick em apart. The extra coverage doesn’t help. This makes sense and I highly doubt it happens, more like db's playing 10 yards off the line and no pass rush while allowing Burrows to carve them up. Edited 7 hours ago by Niagara Dude 1 1 Quote

It will be disappointing if we can't get pressure even without Bosa. This is a game Rousseau needs to step up. AJ needs to do something. Walker needs to wreck a little in the middle. Epenesa didn’t practice yesterday. Foot issue. Quote

RyanC883 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I hope you're right. But I'm not sure drastically changing things up is part of the stubborn process. Ideally we come out with our normal D, and if that does not work, have a plan B like you described to unleash. Quote

MJS Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Prepare to be disappointed. The Bills aren't all of the sudden going to play drastically different on defense. They'll play more man and probably blitz more, and maybe they'll have a wrinkle or two. You can't just change your defense mid season, though. It's not a videogame. Everything has to be installed, learned, and practiced by the players over weeks and months. Quote

finn Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago My fear is they'll rush four as usual, giving Burrow all the time he wants in the pocket waiting for one of the best WR corps in the league to get open against Poyer, White, and Taron, none of whom can cover for long anymore. My hope is that they regularly blitz Dorian or Bishop, both of who can get home, so that Burrow has to unload quickly, and use Hairston's speed to help shut down Chase, and (no choice) take their chances with Higgins. They'll adjust, but so can the Bills, maybe with a full suite of unpredictable blitzes. Whether they win or lose, I can see us all seeing the outcome a part of pattern we've seen all season. Quote

Maybe we play a 3-4 look? 3 DL, 2 LB, 6 DB sets? Lot more blitzing with CBs off the edge, maybe safety blitzes? With basically just Groot and Solomon not much else to do. We have struggled with run fits out of our base defense all year and have finally started looking like we're putting it together. Why would we switch schemes to something with a totally different set of rules for key reads and run fits? No offense, but all the people on here who think it's easy to just willy nilly change from front to front don't have a clue what's involved with doing so. I'm sure we'll see a lot of the same as we did in the Pittsburgh game. Run blitz on early downs to set up 2nd and 3rd and longs where we know they have to pass and we can sit in 2 man. I wanna see a CB blitz or 2 with Benford who is a fierce tackler. The Bills need to go after Burrow and not let him dictate the game. Quote

Their running game is VERY good as well. Bills need a repeat of the Steelers game on offense IMO, especially with Kincaid out again. The Pats game is looking even more bleak. Whose running game? Cincy's? Nah. Quote

It's not a bad idea to go the old Patriot route though and have Hairston travel with him and provide help over top at all times. Puts your best corner on Higgins and doubles Chase. Allows you to play your 2 man in obvious passing situations, but also play Cover 3, Cover 6, or rolled Tampa looks to get your best match-ups on both weapons. Just depends on how comfortable they are with Hairston in all those situations. Edited 1 hour ago by HoofHearted 1 1 Quote
frostbitmic Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I suspect we might show up with a gameplan to stop the run. Quote
