To me it's a red flag, given his pff grade and how terrible Pittsburgh secondary is. And he's 34. I just said he is washed, which isn't really debatable at this point. Hopefully he balls out for us.

Isn't your face going to be red when he makes 1st team All Pro.

Yeah getting benched and released from a putrid secondary by a team still in playoff contention just screams still has something left in the tank.

You absolutely just don’t get it or like being a contrarian. Slay replacing J’Marcus is simply a no brainer.

We are playing more Dime and I think this takes Cam Lewis off the field.

Does slay have much left to be a slot corner tho?  Thought he has primarily been an outside guy only the past few seasons.

He’s an insurance policy so you don’t have an Elam type starting in a playoff game - nothing more nothing less

Slay has like a passer rating of 103 or something when targeted this year. He's been great in the past but he's been bad this year and is old as dirt. Sorry I'm not more excited.

Didn't realize CB was our problem.

Thought it was lack of pass rush & WR1.

We have Benford, White & Hairiston.

But ok.

Good point, should have signed a WR1 and impact DE off waivers this week.

Unless I'm wrong,

Cam comes in and takes Milano's place.  Taron stays on the field.

Slay was benched then cut by the team with the NFLs 31st ranked defense. And he may be 40 by the time he learns the complex defense we run. If he can in fact help, that would be great.

Slay has always been a man coverage corner.  In the offseason the whole change in the defense was going to be more man.  Injuries have ruined that option.

maybe as the team gets healthier or tries to at least and given the upcoming opponents they want the option to have an experienced corner to put out there to run some of that.

what Pittsburgh’s defensive rankings are means nothing.  They have first rounders all over their defense and it stinks across the board.  So in essence the Steelers defense stinks as a unit and that is not the same as slay being lousy on his own merit.

Our defense is a bit complex for the safeties and linebackers, it is not complex for CBs.  CB is one position in football you can walk of the street and play the next day.

Right, inside/ slot is usually who Cam matches up with slot WR, TE, Rb).

Its cool, I dont think Slay is replacing anyone in our dime looks.  Hea going to be our 4th outside CB, instead of Ingram.

the Steelers traded Pickens who is now All Pro

maybe, just maybe Slay can still be very good

the Eagles wanted him back if he cleared waivers and Howie is almost never wrong

Pittsburgh didn't trade Pickens because he lost his starting job and played horrible this year. Slay was even an healthy scratch at one point this year.

Howie makes moves every year that don't work out. Just like every GM. Just as an aside, is there somewhere that even says the Eagles wanted him back that I missed or is this personal speculation dressed as fact?

In any event, what's best for the Bills? Pulling in a vet on the way downside of his career, or getting out promising looking first round CB the most possible snaps and on field experience before the playoffs?

For only 300k, it’s worth the chance. Let’s see what he’s got.

Can he be Bosa’s hamstring?

Pretty sure McDermott’s ideal defense is a combination of him and bosa at every position.
