Bills could be a stepping stone like how he got the Giants HC job in the first place, after all we do have Allen and the chance of Allen to play some good/MVP type football down the stretch is high, with or without Daboll. But you look good being on the staff, having a hand in it. It makes sense from that standpoint if there is no beef between him and McD. But last we have heard and seen, there was definitive tension there. If they have worked that out behind the scenes (and they certainly could have or do so now), then sure it's more plausible. I just don't recall anything public about them clearing the air or tension, but to be fair, it also doesn't mean it didn't happen. 11 minutes ago, PoundingDog said: And there you have it. That should put an end to the speculation, but no doubt it won't be lol Quote

Where already the land of misfit toys we don’t need to re-home anymore ex-Bills. I’d actually like to get a broom and start clean, & that starts at the top. Brady is doing what McD wants, he’s not bringing in Dab’s to start the previous pissing match over again. Edited 1 hour ago by PayDaBill$ Quote

On the outside, there is a lot of reasons to believe the Bills should be interested in anything that could possibly help us. However, there is more at play here than just trying to help the offense out of their funk. Let's look at this from McDermott's POV. They didn't have the best of relationship while he was here. There was at the time a lot of people blaming the defense for holding this team back and letting down the offense. Well, who's defense is it? McDermott's. Who was calling plays on offense? Daboll. So, there were a ton of people at that time that wanted to dump McDermott and hire Daboll as HC. So.....what happens if McDermott did bring Daboll back and all of a sudden the passing offense becomes really good again and the defense continues to get gashed the rest of the year? What's everyone saying at the end of the year? Of course, McDermott is the problem! So, you have to ask yourself why McDermott, who obviously doesn't want to give up his job or give anyone anyone reason to believe someone could be better at getting this team to where it wants to go, would ever consider bringing in someone who some would perceive as a potential replacement for him. It will never happen even if it was the right thing to do. 1 Quote

McDermott and Daboll both get fired today, who is the first to get a HC gig? Gotta be mcdermott right? Daboll will get an OC gig anywhere. I'm not sure McDermott would get many chances at even a college DC, and that's not a put-down I understand what you’re saying and that is pretty damning re McShottenheimer. Quote

The guy had Josh firing on all cylinders, a dynamic offense with swagger, innovative plays and schemes that actually worked. He literally had us 13 seconds from defeating the Chiefs and a clear run to the SB and people dont want that? You'd rather have Brady and his Pop Warner offense? Fire Brady immediately and get this guy back in! I don't think alot of us hate the idea and I don't want to speak for others but I don't think there is any way McDermott and his 1902 fundamental football philosphy matches with a dynamic offense like Daboll had. Plus if the rumors were true I wonder if Daboll would every play for McDermott again but I sure would love to see that reunion even if it were just as a consultant or however they list these guys when they come back. Scott7975 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) I like Daboll for OC. Not for HC but for OC. Its not going to happen. Daboll and McD hate each other. Also, people need to realize that Brady is just running the type of offense that McD wants to be run. It's been what he has been trying to do since he got here. This is his idea of complimentary football. A phrase he has been saying since year 1. Edited 1 hour ago by Scott7975 1 Quote

Even though this is the offense McD wants run, Brady will be used for a scapegoat. Quote

In Carolina, there was nothing that stood out as being innovative. Wouldn't Brady want to show his stuff, since he wants to be a head coach himself? Daboll fought with McDermott but, in the end, he called what he wanted and ended up with a head coaching position. 16 minutes ago, Uncle Stucky said: It would be a very Billsy thing to do.
