To my fellow Bills fans, I think about this all the time. I am curious everyone else’s thoughts on this.

If we hadn’t traded our 22nd pick for Diggs Justin Jefferson falls in our lap that following year. I know this is in hindsight and Beane was trying to get us a solid weapon in which he did. Diggs was great for a few years but I can’t help but wonder how different this team would’ve been for a decade plus of Allen and Jefferson.

Team definitely would have been awesome..We also could have stayed put in the 2018 draft and drafted Lamar Jackson and kept our bounty of 2nd round picks.. So many iffs

Other posters that claim to have some sources have said the Bills would have drafted Ted Higgins if we had retained the pick. Maybe one of them will see this post.

Let’s just enjoy memories of the most prolific receiver in Bills history.

I can’t help but wonder what would’ve happened if humans didn’t have feet, only legs.  Would Nike exist?

I agree, there  are a ton of what ifs. Some will bring up Mahomes and not trading that pick, some will bring up Jackson but here in Buffalo and having a defensive minded coach with limited offensive weapons. I believe we have the best qb in the world right now. Neither of them would succeed here like they are now with their teams in my opinion.

In my mind the fact that Jefferson would’ve fallen to us and was picked with that pick makes it so fascinating to think about. Maybe they don’t draft him but the thought of him and Allen has got to be intriguing to any hardcore bills fan especially with where we are now at wide receiver.

The slogan is “Just Do It”

Youd have shoes for your elbows or knees no doubt.

I think the better what if is “what if Diggs wasn’t a selfish moron?”

Stuck a Super Bowl caliber team with 31 million in dead cap to go to two lesser teams.

What if he would have just stuffed his stupid ego somewhere and got to work being part of a team to WIN and not just be his source of stats?

Good riddance and Go Bills!

Oh and the trade was needed and warranted at the time.   Unfortunately Diggs proved to be exactly what he was on Minnesota….a jerk.

I don’t think about it at all.

Diggs was the proven commodity. JJ was the fifth WR off the board.

I think there’s no guarantee we take JJ if we hang onto that pick. And seeing how Diggs helped Josh ascend in what was a critical year into a perennial MVP candidate and the best QB in football, I would never ever consider doing a “do-over”

My thoughts…you have other issues if this is what you are thinking about “all the time”.  Might be time to get the pipes cleaned and get your mind off of Jefferson.

The information I have is at the point the Bills made the trade (which was FA time wasn't it so like 6 weeks out from the draft) the comparison they front office was using to decide whether trading away a first for Diggs made sense to them was Tee Higgins. That leads me to believe that at that point Tee was likely their WR4 because the consensus was Jeudy, Ruggs and Lamb would be gone. It doesn't have to mean that. Maybe the Bills felt Jefferson would almost definitely be gone too and so they thought WR5 was likely the best that would be left for them. Or maybe Higgins was WR4 for them at that point but they could have flipped to Jefferson by draft day - that's also possible.

But the player who was their counterfactual in the Diggs decision at the time it was made was Tee Higgins.

They almost certainly would've taken a defensive player with that pick if Beane hadn't traded it away after waiting for McDermott to go to bed that night.

If we hadn't traded for Diggs, based on Beanies drafting history, he would have passed on WR, took a CB and tried grabbing a WR in the third round

Maybe they thought Reagor was WR4 and may have been willing to trade up for him.

Higgins does fit their player profile at WR to a Tee lol so that tracks.

In fact, in this fantasy world (probably reality), the Bills would’ve traded the pick to KC and they would’ve drafted Jefferson.

There are 3 players I dislike as people on this team.

The Bills knew they had to get Josh a receiver and could not risk another team trading up and taking their wide receiver. That happened to the Bills when the Steelers traded up and drafted big Ben.

Or taking WR Justin Shorter, Puka Nakua was the next pick.

Hindsight is stupid.  Bills passed on Tom Brady 6 times.
