Flacco played very well, especially for a guy who just landed there.

However, most knew he would succeed somewhat. Throw the ball to Chase and Higgins. Not much else to it.

The sad part is these talking heads act like it isn’t the key part of the equation here…

Jake Browning was throwing to Chase and Higgins too.

I did say that I acknowledge there are others, didn't I?

So the most recent example is from 2008?

Kinda reinforces my point.

Also, other than Rice and Moss, none of those guys are the force that Chase is. And Chase is looking like a legitimate contender to be in the "best WR of all time" conversation.

Now find me that ongoing list in the modern NFL.

Are there any from the last 2 decades other than Wayne and Harrison?

AJ Brown & DeVonta Smith

Because they paid Chase and Higgins.....they only have enough salary cap space to field this as their O-line:

This is why Joe Donkey is always hurt.

That is funny.

The Eagles manage to pay AJ Brown, Hurts, Smith, Barkely, Godert, and still field a good o-line.

It can be done.

Paying two guys like Chase and Higgins on top of your qb would leave a team with crappy oline and no defense. Your qb would probably be hurt regularly and your defense wouldn’t be able to stop anybody. Like what the Bengals are right now. Would you prefer that situation for Allen?

See the Philadelphia Eagles.

Yeah. AJ Brown’s and Devonte Smith’s contracts add up to Ja’Maar Chase’ contract. Those two guys are nice but they’re not Chase and Higgins.

They're plenty good enough, as evidenced by the Lombardi they won last season.

I Literally did not think it was possible for any organization to be run as poorly as the Buffalo Sabres... but Cleveland is about to over take them down the last 1/4 mile stretch...

they may catch the Sabres but they won’t over take them.

Yeah no question about that. But that’s a completely different topic than what you said about Chase and Higgins.

Paying two very good receivers that only costs the price of Chase allows the Eagles to fill other areas. That’s a very sound strategy.

Bills have a similar strategy. They paid Shakir almost as much as Devonte Smith. It allows for capital to be allocated throughout the team. You can question their wr evaluations and that’s fair. But you said they don’t believe in investment to the position and that’s not true at all.

The Bills and Browns have a lot in common.  Our front office and coach sucks too and neither team will sniff a Super Bowl for years.  At least the Browns have a Super Bowl level defense.

A few decades back the Bills were just like the Browns are today.  (Hank Bullough era)  In those days, the Lions were the only team as bad as the Bills I think.  Times change it appears.

"Investment" also invloves draft picks.  *Higgins was the 33rd pick.  Chase was selected 5th overall the following year.

There's a zero percent chance Beane drafts Higgins one year, then turns around and grabs Chase the following year.  The pick, almost certainly, would have been Surtain II.

They do not value the position like Cinci or Philly does or else they'd take more chances than they have over the years.  Trading a 3rd for 30 year old Amari Cooper isn't the same thing.

They've had a very "moneyball" way of filling the position.

*And Smith makes $7M more than Shakir AAV.

The Bengals would have never drafted Chase if Joe Burrow didn’t absolutely demand it. The entire organization was ready to draft Penei Sewell until Burrow jumped in and forced the team to pick his college roommate. It was shocking to everyone here and local radio killed them for it on Friday morning. Remember,

Burrow suffered a season-ending knee injury his rookie year and the team didn’t want to Andrew Luck him. And the only reason that Higgins is still a Bengal is that Burrow demanded it this summer. The Bengals already were forced to trade a disgruntled Carson Palmer and will do anything to keep Joe Burrow happy.
