I hope Beane is at least working the phones.  Now is the time, with the bye week coming up.  Get a guy in here & get him acclimated to this offense.

It would just be incredibly disappointing if we did nothing to address a pretty clear deficiency.

He is a first round talent. Who have the Bills drafted in the first round since Josh Allen who is better than him? The only upper echelon receiver they’ve had in this era was obtained by trading a first round pick.

I understand the sentiment... But even though it seems like yesterday, Diggs was traded in a different era of trades/cap... Teams are not getting, or even asking for what they used to in trades...see the Micah Parsons trade. Plus you have the concussion issues...So, in the current climate I don't think Olave is worth a 1st... I think maybe a 2nd... Or a pick swap if you use the 2nd where you move the Saints up and get their 4th or 5th back... IMHO of course... B-)

Taking a look around the league there is one other receiver with a low enough salary this year to fit easily under this years cap. His team is off to a poor start, drafted several WRs high this year and need OL desperately.

To obtain him would be costly, maybe prohibitively so. But trading picks and O’Cyrus Torrence may be interesting for the Texans and Nico Collins.

a WR can’t fix all of our problems, but if there is one that can rejuvenate an offense on his own it may be him.

Serious question; do you actually believe he is remotely available?!

Then you have to pay them. Pit paid DK 33 mil/year and they have 20 or so mil in cap space per Spotrac. Cant do that when youre paying a QB like the Bills are. Wouldve got Pickens for 3rd + day 3 pick but had him for a year.

Of course. $. That’s why I don’t have to kill myself. Phew.

I’ve always loved Pickens skillet. But the Bills are not interested in and therefore unable to manage talented problem children.

I don’t know I’m not their GM LOL, I imagine if the picks are enough everyone has a price tag. He is just a great receiver on a bad team with a pretty good contract so thought I’d throw it out there to speak into existence since Olave has been discussed a ton.

Maybe instead of signing mediocore players to ten or fifteen or twenty million dollar a year contracts, our GM should have been looking to sign actual difference makers instead, and filled out the roster with what money was left.  Not one guy signed this offseason will make a noticeable difference for the Bills in all likelihood.  Would have been nice to even have even one guy added to the roster who moved the needle.  Up against the cap every year, but with only two real difference makers on the 53 man roster.  Crazy.

Bad drafting coupled with bad contracts resigning those bad draft picks and the inability to find any meaningful contributors in FA, can’t see how they aren’t improving.

Ok thanks. Just think that’s one name on the poorer teams that has no chance of being moved.

Saints don’t have much room to work with in the cap, $14m in the red I believe and did pick up Olave’s contract. Think that’s the point why they’d move on from him like some people are hoping. Gives them more cap flexibility whilst recouping a high draft pick and possible player/s?

Texans don’t have much either but significant space that some restructuring would help. Add on to that Collins’ contract is factored into that, one that is extremely low in comparison to the league for a guy of his talents when healthy. Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel seem like they’re struggling and the only guy on that team outside of Collins who is worth anything is Tank Dell, who has serious durability concerns with his size. Collins is pivotal for Stroud and that offense’s future successes.

That’s where I’m at. But, if in some world Collins is available you go balls to the wall.

I hope that last part isn’t true because if it is I’m gonna have to kill myself.

It's not true.  If Buff got DK Metcalf instead of Pitt, Pitt wouldn't have let Pickens go.

For me, missing out on DK hurt the most of the off-season moves.  DK doesn't demand target share like most stud WRs.  DK would have fit in great IMO - but, need to focus now on the future.

I like Olave as the number one choice.  Then DJ Moore.  Of course would love N Collins but consider it too unrealistic (IMO) to list.  Also like the idea of J Addison.

If it ever comes to that I’d rather he go to the Rams. He would thrive under McVay, but Shanahan runs all of his QB’s into the dirt and much like the Bills- can’t beat KC in the postseason when it counts.

I think his qbs get run down because they're kinda weak.  Allen would absolutely kill over there.

Nico Collins is a Pipe Dream. Might as well start talking about Ja'Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson if you're talking about Nico Collins.

He's a 26 year old stud #1 WR that they signed to a 3 yr, 73m extension just last year. They lost Diggs and Dell. He's far and away the most important part of their Offense and they don't have much else. He isn't going anywhere.

Just bc the Texans aren't winning right now doesn't mean they're going to tear things down like teams like the Saints.

Just acclimate yourselves to Jacobi Myers.

I’ve always liked Meyers and think he’s a good receiver. He’d be a really good number 2. You need another 400-500 yard receiver? He’s going to get you 800-900. You need a 1100-1200 yard receiver? He’s going to get you 800-900.

Lol, he feels like the “Final Boss of JAG WRs.” He is the “Thanos of Everybody Eats.” 🤣🤣  If you were to take the top 32ish WRs in the NFL off the board and then start ranking guys 33 to last, he would be near the top of the list (and all other Bills WRs would check in after him).

Lol, I am just laying here cracking myself up thinking of nicknames like Apollo Creed in Rocky IV. “The Messiah of Mediocrity, the new king of the first-string, the deity of decency, the passable pass catcher, he puts the ordinary in extraordinary, the one, the only Jakobi Meyers!!”

Yes you can. You just need to get creative with the cap.  There is a ton of cap currently being wasted on jags that could be replaced for much less with similar results. Thinking that you can't pay 30 million to a receiver because the QB is being paid is how you wind up with guys like Curtis Samuel and Josh Palmer and even Bernard.  You dont think replacing them with DK Metcalf would improve the team?

If he's on the field, absolutely. (See list of WR injuries, it's week 7) I think Josh is more comfortable with good separators though. (Diggs & Beasley). DK is not a separator.

At least when 1 JAG goes down, Bills can replace with another JAG. Haha.

The Chiefs & Packers have the same roster philosophy. Great QBs/coaching can make mediocre WRs good. Unfortunately, the Chiefs/Packers either A) Draft better players overall/fit their system or B) are able to actually coach them up C) JA isnt as great as I think he is
