I may be totally off base here and this may have already been discussed. So I'm sitting here watching the Eagles Giants game and was blessed by four tushy pushies in a row, two in which should have had penalties called for false starts, thinking there must be an easy way to counter this. So....if my ever fading memory is correct, you cannot block below the knees. So if I'm the defense, you don't hunker down on the line helmet to helmet, you stand up. Then when the offensive line blocks downward at the ankles\knees,.....penalty! Plain as day. Also, since Hurts (or any other QB) is basically going over the top of the lines, by standing up, you meet him head on as they are called for an illegal block.

Maybe I'm missing something.

Now back to the game.

Dont let the Eagles get to a down and distance that allows the play to be called.     Its an effective play.  That said, a lot of plays are effective when you need a yard or less.

I don’t get the uproar over potentially banning the “tush push”.
They wouldn’t be banning QB sneaks (which I’d expect the eagles to be one of the best QB sneak team in the league as well also). They’re just banning the act of pushing a ball carrier forward - which just seems like a logical rule to be in place.

I feel a little John Madden here

I think teams should be looking at NT specialists for this play. Very large men. Sumo’s. These aren’t football players and they have no business on standard plays. But if you have the single objective of getting as low as you can and trying to not give ground I think those type of guys would be the hardest to push back.

If first and goal from the 1 and they line up to do the push... the entire D go Offside at the same time crushing the guy in front of them. Half the distance. Then do it again. Then do it again. F that play

Pushing or pulling the ball carrier was a penalty until about 5 yrs ago. I don’t know why it was changed. It should be changed back.

This is exactly what the Commanders did last year. Ref said if they went Offside again that he would award the Eagles a TD

Refs need to start calling this crap.  I know it's almost impossible to see in real time but they can't be afraid to throw the flag.  Then just make a rule change that pushing the ball carrier forward is a 45 yard penalty at next year's owner meetings.

It’s crazy how big an advantage false starting on this play is too.  Kinda makes my blood boil 😂 the big weakness of the play is completely neutralized because there just isn’t any penalty risk somehow haha

I think if you slowed down most plays you'd see something similar from the offensive line but if it's an excuse to get rid of that nauseating play I'm fine with that.

there is a rule application in place to prevent this. You will get a warning after 2 and then could forfeit if it continues. Designed to prevent a loophole exploited that makes a mockery of the game.

Should have been used when that team held all of the defense as the punter stood in end zone running game clock to zero. Of course it was first time anyone seen that.

By the same token I've been advocating for years to have the Sabres get a sumo goalie.  He could just lie down in front of the goal.

Since Terry owns both teams, he could roster the same guy for both and save a few yen.
