Johnnycage46 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) So, looking at ESPN stats through week 5, Atlanta's defensive rankings: #1 in yards per game at 244/game. #1 in pass yards per game at 135/game. #16 in rush yards per game at 109/game. #15 scoring defense at 21.5 pts/game. #6 third down defense at 34.1% Going to be a tough game. They are coming off of their bye, have a load of skill position talent on offense and have a good defense. I hope the loss to NE woke up the Bills, if not, we're looking at a 2 game slide heading into the bye. Edited 2 hours ago by Johnnycage46 Quote

The Bills will probably have to win a high scoring game vs the Falcons. Similar to what the Bucs and Seahawks game looked like this past Sunday. Both the Bills and Falcons like to run the ball too much to get into that kind of a shootout. Plus, statistically, Atlanta's D has been really strong through 4 games. They haven't given up 300 yards yet. And I don't think Penix is on the level of Allen, Stafford, Mayfield or Darnold (of the past two seasons). 1 Quote

Josh was Josh but not getting ANY help outside of Kincaid as far as receivers getting separation, the running game and play calling. Joe Marino's All-22 review today was interesting because it outlined our failure to take advantage of the Pats base defense in the passing game. He also emphasizes how much better Josh was on his review than he thought initially. Basically, outside of 4 plays he talks about specifically, Josh was excellent. And yeah we can talk about those 4 plays all day like the pass he didn't make to Samuel after leaving a clean pocket, but as essentially the last play in the passing game for a game where he watched his weapons get no separation, maybe Josh was justified in thinking he needed to roll out to give him more of that run/pass option. Also would have been nice to see the obvious DPI flag thrown. There was a couple DPIs the non call on the interference of Shakir on the 3rd down we kicked the tying field goal was particularily egregious.. but its Hochuli, he hates us. and will do whatever is in his power to screw us.... his red zone turnover was not good... quite honestly I wonder if WR down the field are consistently not open and he just makes amazing throws... I was also not enamored with Brady's ability to take advantage of what was being given... I get the all 22 rating... and by no means am saying Josh played poorly... but in my opinion did not leap over tall buildings in a single bound... and when he doesnt do that... well... we often lose... it would have been nice to see the defense make a critical stop... they unfortunately don't have it in them last drive most of the time... Wishful thinking and reality are always two different things! Though I thought we might drop games to the likes of the Eagles, Chiefs, a fully fit Bengals, maybe at Foxborough, rather than at home to the Pats. Quote

I know everyone is mad about the defense and that's become the narrative, but they played well enough to win that stupid game. They held the Pats to 23 points (only 2 TDs) and forced 4 punts and a turnover. We had 3 turnovers and 2 punts. Equal number of stops, but one of their stops was a fumble and a gift of 3 points. Those 3 points were the difference in the game. This loss was on the offense and general sloppiness. Just don't turn the ball over 3 times and have crushing, drive-killing penalties, and we'll be OK. For example, the Bills were driving on their first drive and were going to score. FUMBLE!. On the second drive after the Pats fumble, Ty Johnson ran off the right edge for 8 yards, setting up a 2nd and short in Pats territory. All negated by an illegal formation penalty. And it was a penalty because Palmer was a yard behind the LoS. If Josh just takes the sack instead of throwing that pick in the 3rd, we get an almost certain 3 points and win the game. So for this week, here are the goals: Don't turn the ball over! Line up correctly! Keep contain when the QB scrambles! I get it and well said. BUT - our offense did tie the game with roughly 2:00 mins remaining. Our D HAS to make a stop. Not only did they look pathetic on the final Pats drive, we let them waltz down the field. maye made some spectacular plays on that drive and so did Diggs. But don't tell me it was one penalty of lining up incorrect or turn overs. We had takeaways too. Our D is getting pummeled this year and when we face a good team like the Pats and the Falcons, it's gonna be a long night. 53 minutes ago, Johnnycage46 said: So, looking at ESPN stats through week 5, Atlanta's defensive rankings: #1 in yards per game at 244/game. #1 in pass yards per game at 135/game. #16 in rush yards per game at 109/game. #15 scoring defense at 21.5 pts/game. #6 third down defense at 34.1% Going to be a tough game. Our D is closing in on league worst. Quote

Or, we may need to hope our O can put up 35 (we should just plan to put up 35-40 every week!) Quote

zow2 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I feel bad for the Falcons...having to play the Bills coming off a tough loss. This will be the very scrappy, buttoned up version of the Bills. McDermott is good at these type of games coming off a sloppy bitter defeat. I'll bet certain members of the Atlanta organization were rooting for the Bills to beat NE so they could ambush em on MNF. BearNorth Posted 9 minutes ago Posted 9 minutes ago Falcon's have three skill positions that have killed Bills in the past. London - WR; Pitts - TE, Robinson - RB, all among the top at their position. Our defense isn't ready for prime time. Our wide receivers aren't ready for prime time. They also have a solid interior D line, and watching NE game film, sure they will be clamping down on James Cook. Puts Josh in a tough spot I would say, esp since they have had extra time to scheme. Divine Deablo is one of the top LB's in the league this year and likely will be spying Josh. Quote
