If we get Dexter Lawrence I will literally cry tears of joy

and Giants fans will be crying tears of joy too. He's not playing well this season.

We've seen Davis as the other primary boundary WR, the results aren't good.

Davis would be replacing Shavers.

Not so sure about that.

He doesn't have to be. We just need opposing defenses to have to respect the outside/deep parts of the field. Gabe was always able to separate, we do not have a threat of that now.

We need the middle of the field opened up so Kincaid and Shakir can eat.

After seeing him in person, yes, he sucks. He's big and slow but plays small and slow. He's a body catcher and his body language is awful. Swing and a miss.

I've noticed he's a lousy blocker too. Pushes with his arms a bit then gives up. Might have a future as a big slot to spell Shakir. Would have been a decent pick in the fifth or sixth round.

Who else does Allen want the Bills to draft? Find out and pick someone else.

Say what you will, but Gabe is BY FAR the best offensive weapon sitting on any team's practice squad. I know because I looked at them all during the bye. So, if the Bills don't sign him to the 53 the second he comes off PS IR, some other team will.

No he’s not.  Gabe’s injured

If we could somehow swing a trade for one of the Saints WR to add to that room then we're talking.

Palmer, Davis, Shakir, Saints WR

3 three TE

Cook

That's a nice offense to go into the stretch run

I'd look at Davis as more of a depth option behind palmer and Coleman - and a replacement for Shavers.  Shaheed appears to be an upgrade over Moore, so that would move Moore off the roster.  Samuel seems to always be hurt so that can nudge him down the depth chart as well, but his contract is pretty bad.  They've consistently utilized a rotation of sub packages for Moore and Samuel, to mostly middling results.  Shavers can't seem to make much of an impact beyond his blocking, and palmer being out has definitely created more spacing issues in the passing game.

It gives you more options, but I'd be shocked if that resulted in a drastic reduction in snaps from Coleman.  He's leading the team in all WR/RB/TE snaps for a reason, and I'm not plugging guys into that spot who haven't practiced yet, or aren't on the team.  He's a solid blocker, he lines up on the LOS, and hasn't really been utilized to his strengths.  He is not the sole reason for the offenses struggles against NE and Atlanta - The amount this board sours on a player is just stunning sometimes.  He's currently on pace for 65/650/5 and he hasn't been targeted much deep or in the red zone.

I'm sorry, what?  You described blocking and said he's bad at it.  WR holding is like the easiest call to make on outside runs, so you're kind of taught to let go.

There is no way you lead the NFL in rushing, and the leading snap WR/TE/RB is a "lousy blocker"

that would help with some of the deep ball issues...regardless of what we may think about Davis, if he is right, he is one of the best deep ball WR's in the NFL and he was 2nd in the NFL in YPC in the entire NFL over the years he was with the Bills (might have been first). He may not be the fastest, but he definitely has the ability to separate on those deep throws.

I think the underrated potential of re-capturing some of that chemistry with allen, who's deep balls have looked off since Gabe's departure.

So you think we're better off with Tyrell Shavers, who has gone without a catch in 5 games while being dressed for all of them? Or Elijah Moore who has a total of 5 catches for 78 yards? Or Curtis Samuel, who's played in only 3 games and has a total of 3 catches for 35 yards?

I vehemently disagree with this notion that we're better off not using him when that's what we're getting out of HALF of our WR core.

I don't disagree with using Gabe instead of, say, Shavers.  I simply don't think it's going to make much of a difference if Gabe is on the field or not.

Gabe is recovering from a serious injury, runs a limited route tree, doesn't possess blazing speed even when fully healthy, isn't great at separation, and doesn't always seem to be on the same page as Josh.

None of our current wideouts are making a difference.  Gabe won't change that.  Not the way Brady schemes and calls a downfield passing game.

Gabe is a great blocker and better than any of the current WR's other than maybe Shakir at finding ways to get open when Josh leaves the pocket

These are both good points I hadn't considered.  So maybe Gabe, if fully recovered, will make a small difference.

We've gone from "everybody eats" to "everybody sucks" pretty quickly.  I do wish Beane would get over the Keon bust and trade for a legit threat WR, but there's got to be more to this. DC'S are wise to us, Josh is not being Josh, and Brady has no answers other than hand the ball to Cook or screens to Shakir.

if he can play i'd put gave davis out there and give him large burn until palmer is ready.  if palmer, kinkaid, shakir, and cook are on the field we can threaten several areas of the d on obvious passing downs.  right now we just don't throw to backs and allen is like the least passingest qb on "neutral" downs, so we either run and dominate or get to 3rd and long and struggle schematically.  if we can be closer to 50/50 run and pass from jumbo under c and out of shotgun (we can go shotty w multiple TEs too) then teams will have a problem stopping it.

also, do we ever run draws?  i saw a stat that said cook runs into 7.5 or so defenders in the box on average, the 4th highest in the nfl, and has the highest epa per run (0.2, which is disgusting).  in 4 down territory him running on 3rd and 7 out of shotgun might be our best option sometimes.

Gabe is still on IR.

If this team is turning to this version of Gabe Davis as a savior at WR then this team deserves to not win this year. Bills need to be trading for a WR that can make an impact not turning to a WR that should only be used in an emergency...

Josh threw a lot of INTs while targeting Davis in the past.

Yes.  That along with some bad drops is what his cons are.

Maybe he can clean some of that up if he is pressed into service later in the year.
