No, but I also think some of the blame falls on Beane. You have 3 players in White, Milano, and Rapp who do not belong on the field. Who is more to blame for that?

McD's defense in playoff losses since 2019 allow on average 30 ppg. Chiefs 25 & Ravens 20 ppg allowed. Josh has been the greatest reason those games have been close even if he has not been perfect. No QB including Mahomes will last when the biggest game every year you’re looking at needing 30 points just to tie. 

I absolutely love Josh as I’ve said and think it’s a small sample size fluky thing more than anything, but mahomes/brady probably don’t have a stretch of going 1-6 on fourth quarter scoring drives against a rival in the playoffs in a 2 game stretch on their resume.  I’ll take a look though I could be wrong.  Josh would be the first to tell you that’s nowhere near good enough I think 

 

The average playoff game stats are all well and good to talk about, but when the best qb in the league has the ball in his hands and a chance to ice the game none of that really matters. Im not saying don’t blame the defense, but this whole ‘Josh hasn’t gotten a chance to win the game’ type stuff just isn’t true the past couple years and wasn’t true last night

kc/NE have had their playoff games where they’ve had to score 30+ and they’ve been pretty flawless offensively late in those games to avoid having to talk about how their defense blew the game 😂. First superbowl against the eagles kc went td-td-td-fg in the second half to come back from a 10 point deficit.  Super Bowl against SF they were a mess the first half on offense and got hot when it mattered also.

I think the Bills have a good shot making the SB this year! Winning it that’s always a crap shoot because it’s 1 game and anything can happen. The big question is can the Bills get out of their own heads when they face KC in the playoffs?  If the Bills with Allen have a boogeyman it’s Mahomes and KC.. sort of like Manning with Brady.

At this point I’d take anyone just because the team isn’t going anywhere with McD in charge.

We have our Mahomes, and some would argue that Allen is even better than him, so when does McD actually break out?.........he has his championship QB and that's not even debatable, so is our FO waiting for a better QB option to come along to this franchise before they take that next step and surround him with some adequate playmakers?

Brady had Moss, Gronk, Edelman, Welker to throw to. Mahomes had Hill early in his career and Kelce to throw to. Who does Allen really have. Even Kelly had Reed and Lofton to throw to. If Allen is expected to produce in the clutch in the 4th quarter especially in playoff games, then Beane needs to get him better WRs. There is nobody on the Bills WR/TE group that keeps opposing HC's and DC's up at night. You know that saying about making chicken salad out of chicken ****. That is what Beane and McDermott are asking Allen to do.

If you want me to tell you what I’d do personally?

 

Id hire Brady as the HC so we don’t lose him and we keep the offense as is

 

And I’d hire an experienced DC with former HC experience to help him and just change the entire Defense. Example Wade Phillips. There are probably a handful of guys that might fit that mold

I would look at the Eagles, Ravens, Packers organizations for starters. These are organizations who have drafted very well. The Ravens season has gone to **** because of injuries but their overall record drafting well is impressive.

I think McDermott is now in trouble because I don't think this is a Championship roster and I don't think he should, or will, get another 3 years it might take to remake it as such. 

 

I think more of the spotlight should fall on Brandon Beane. He has known for TWO OFFSEASONS that we are seriously deficient at outside receiver and safety and his attempts to fix both major holes have been laughable. And then consider that this spring he had capital. He had some manouvrability under the cap (unlike in fairness last spring). He had 10 draft picks. He had the ability to be aggressive in upgrading the roster. His decisions were:

 

Sign Bosa

Sign Ogunjobi

Sign Hoecht

Sign Palmer

Draft Hairston

Draft Sanders

Draft Jackson

Extend Rousseau

Extend Bernard

Extend Benford

Extend Shakir

Extend Cook

 

In terms of serious asset allocation he made those twelve moves. Right now, today how many of them look like successes? The PED duo were his choices. The extensions were him locking up his best draft class since Josh. Taking a toolsy corner with known injury history was him. Even more damning for the GM the one move there that was a slam dunk success is the Cook deal he had to be persuaded on.

 

If by the end of this season that list of 12 moves does not look a lot more successful than it does right now today then Brandon Beane's job should be under major scrutiny. Other than Bosa and Ogunjobi the rest of those are longer term commitments to build the second Allen era contender. You would be hard pushed now to say he had got them right.
