I will say this, I doubt the Pats win the rematch (or at least not in the same way). Doubt the reffing will be as wacky, and I'm going to guess the Bills will prevent Maye rolling out to his right.

It was sort of a Murphy's Law kind of night for us. They had some mistakes too, but we really left the door open for them on a few occasions.

I think we get the split, and probably win comfortably next time. But the division is a bigger worry. Their schedule is ridiculously soft.

They really didn't though.

The 10 penalties in the 1st half killed every drive that the bills were moving the ball.

taking less penalties is part of playing better than us.....

As said, the defense let through 23 points. That's not awful. Not great, yes, but not awful.

3 was on the offense...Coleman fumble.  Was instant 3 points for Pats.

It not just how many points the D gave up but when they gave them up. In the 1st half the O struggled and was awful while the D played very well.  The score was 6 - 3 Pats.  In the 2nd half the Bills O played very well scoring 17 points on 4 possessions with their only TO giving the Pats the ball at their own 10 yard line.  Playing at home should have been enough to eek out the win had the D played better in the 2nd half and actually gave us a full game.

And again the D did not step up at crucial moments in the game - after the Bills took a 10 - 6 lead in the 3rd they allowed a long TD drive to give the Pats the lead again.  And after the Allen INT the D allowed a 90 yard drive that gave the Pats a 2 score lead. And of course at the end of the game after we tied it up the D let the Pats move into FG range.

Their OL held all night and got zero holding calls against them. In fact, they clearly held every time Maye rolled out to his right. It wasn’t subtle.

Penalties are often very subjective and not evenly called. The Pats did identical OPI that Shakir did right before the Allen INT, and were never called for it. Their offensive line also held A LOT, and I don't think they got called for it while we got called for holds TWICE on interior lineman for holds on running plays (which is rarely called).

It was a screwjob straight up.

Ask the stadium to bring the storm and McD wants to play conservative control the clock football. 😂

Benford is so overrated on this board. What a waste of coin

True. To be pedantic they could have forced a turnover and prevented any points being scored but it would have been tough from that position.

Any NFL offense can move the ball if the OL is allowed to hold.

I was at the game and couldn't see that.

yes, because (outside Qb) WRs are how you stretch a defense.

ours are slow.  It makes it hard to be aggressive. Instead we end up playing small ball.

Moore has speed...he was inactive...palmer has speed, curtis samuel has speed.   then you have shakir and can use kincaid

It happened a lot while Maye was rolling to his right. The right tackle or right guard would grab to buy him some extra time.

I don't think McDermott is trying to "protect his defense" so much as he has a certain philosophy that, if adhered to strictly, will usually result in a win.

There's a lot of bad football being played every week. Anyone who watches games around the league sees that. So the strategy works most of the time.

Add in a talent like Allen and it works even more of the time.

But against an elite opponent, who doesn't throw the costly int and can stay disciplined enough all game to take the small stuff it often does not work.

The problem is he knows his philosophy results in his defense getting shredded by good teams in the playoffs...yet he still sticks with this failed philosophy

McDermott, like some posters here are fine with being a contender that has a punchers chance if they get some luck against a team like KC or Philly

Quality is worse than Zapruder but the Patriots defender was assaulting Shakir before the ball got there.

You can see the ball in the air in this photo, and the Patriot blob of pixels on Shakir’s blob of pixels.

Highly unlikely we were going undefeated. We will probably have another bad loss at some point this year.

More concerning is how the defense has played. BAL has been the only legit offense and we were a joke most of that game. But even against below average teams we often look outmatched. Come playoff time it’s scary to think the O will carry them.

I think Palmer was supposed to pitch it but the throw kinda took him to the ground…Josh def knew he had no timeouts..

Im sorry...best bet  specially with someone that has an arm like Josh, is to just throw a hail mary.  And either hope for a reception or a penalty.  How many have the Bills been on the wrong side of that play.  The multiple laterals is a play that works out so much less than a hail mary.

NBC only showed a replay from the opposite end zone because it was an obvious penalty. Props to them for showing any replay, they usually just skip it on bad calls.
