I get that he has a job and he does it well. But $20M should be reserved for guys with pass rush upside.

Hard to justify paying him that kind of money.

He was the one I didn't like the Bills resigning. $80 million deal for someone that never really did a whole lot to begin with

To be fair they signed on potential and what he might provide in future years - similar to the Ed Oliver 4/68 extension. Oliver has been worth the new contract. Time will tell if Rousseau will do the same. But it hasn't been a great start.

I mean heck, if he had say two passes batted and 3 TFLs after three games we would all be reasonably happy. But he hasn't even reached those modest stats.

Hopefully the ten day break and subsequent reset will give him the spark he needs.

I wonder whether Hoecht will eat into his playing time after his suspension ends?

Bosa playing 87% of the snaps just feels like flirting with disaster but Bosa has played very well so far and is very noticeable compared to what we have had before.

He has a cap hit of 5.8 million this year, 12 million next year. In fact Epenesa makes more that Groot presently

Then in 2027 his cap hit will be over $20 million, with an out available in the offseason 2028

Groot is an edge setter and a lane disruptor, and not a sack master. By the time he is making $20 million plus he will be considered cheap when compared to other top pass rushers, plus he will be a candidate for a restrucutred contract.

We do need to get more pressure on the opposing QB. Hopefully when our DL is healthy players come back from suspension as well as rookies stepping up can make that difference in the 2nd half of the season.

Tua was sacked 8 times in 2 games against the Colts and Pats and had MORE OL starters out this game. Only Bosa recorded a QB hit. Walker pressured a couple times as well, but overall the pass rush was anemic - even when Tua wasn’t getting the ball out fast.

Honestly IMO, I think Rousseau and Epenesa are both too light. Seems as though every offensive lineman on every team seems at least 310 plus and its just a hard ask for these 2 guys both being 6-6 260 lbs, thats pretty skinny for their height, they just arent heavy enough.

Was gonna say same thing.  Epenesa has  always been too light in the a$$ since his rookie year.  Now Rousseau looks the same.  Maybe he thinks it will help his pass rush and is trying to justify his new contract, but he’s not that type of player.  He doesn’t win with explosion.  He wins with his length, strength and ‘slithery-ness’.  Looks easier to block this year so far.

Buffalo Bills announce the signing of Rob Ryan as dietary coach for both offense and defense.  Daily lunch excursions to Golden Corral Buffet.

Saw Epenesa shoving some Miami player on the kickoff in the first quarter for a penalty and that was the last time I noticed him.

McDermott doesn’t play around. Doesn’t take much to land a player in the dog house. He was greatly missed on those 3rd and longs.

AJE is just as worthless as 50.  We're still patiently waiting for these 2 to ever breakout.  I don't think it's ever happening.  Thank God for Joey....

AJE is good for 6-7 sacks a year as a rotational player. That is darn good production for someone who sees so little playing time. He is also solid against the run. AJ plays well against Miami and has rocked Tua multiple times. I can’t say enough how frustrating it is that he wasn’t being played especially when the Bills were getting torched on those 3rd and longs.

Yup he on the sidelines counting his money... by far THE most disappoining person including coaches, scouts and GMs etc... on the Bills... like hey I got paid... let me chill and stay pretty...

I’m not worried about him yet. He has earned the benefit of the doubt for now.

Watch him.

It's not like he's getting blocked or pushed around; he's setting the edge or rushing contain on most of his snaps.

He's nto getting opportunities to make plays that people see (i.e sacks or tfls) because he's rarely being allowed to actually attack the backfield.

This is what McDermott wants from him because he wants his defense responsible to a fault and Rousseau is also really good at it.

Most of the whining about the Frenchman come from folk who understand less about what’s going on than me, and that’s saying a lot, y’all  have read my rants lol,

Groot was the second highest ranked player on D last week by PFF am I correct?

Feels like weve played a lot of contain so far this year and he’s doing his thankless job well.   The disconnect between fans and pff over groot will continue this week too haha with Miami you absolutely have to sell out to stop the wide runs and that seemed like the huge focus
