That’s a weird thing to say ‘the only thing’ about haha kc lookin on the outside of the 1 seed and probably having to battle a little harder to win the division has massive playoff implications.  Idk why people continue to not see it that way

It’s not just dumb luck they’re always freakishly healthy come playoff time the last few years and their opponents are pretty banged up.  Even the year they were the 3 seed they got to rest guys down the stretch because there was just no competition for the division

this whole ‘the regular season doesn’t matter’ thing has gotten out of control imo

I say that's "the only thing", because I still see them winning the division. The AFC west and even the AFC is still theirs until proven otherwise .

Meh- They had to battle in 2023. They Got the 3rd seed and won in Buffalo and Baltimore and then won the Super Bowl.

I would be hard pressed to say KC won’t figure it out, but I’m good they already have two losses. If they lose to the Ravens, that would set them back even further. Heck, I’d be more than pleased with KC losing to the Giants this week.

That’s why the Bills need to take care of business and keep stacking wins. #1 seed is a huge as it gives you an extra weeks rest while everyone else beats up on each other.

It’s been awhile since I can see multiple losses in their schedule.

Would you still say the games don't matter if the Bills were 0-2?

I mean Ravens started 0-2 last year also and didn't matter. They weren't even leading their own division until late in the season.

hot takes about KC in September probably won't age well. People said the same things about NE, and yet in January they were always there. None of these games matter.

The in-division loss to the Chargers absolutely matters.

Was going to say the same thing. I'll never forget when people in 2014 I believe said the Pats dynasty was dead when they lost to the Chiefs 41-14 week 4.... they won the SB that year haha.

Chiefs will be there come January. Their offense is not in its final form and once Rice/Worthy are back I do think they will have a lot more teeth there. With that said it is hard to be as good as they have been this long without having a down year or two or losing in the playoffs earlier, I do think this is probably their worst roster in a while which still is not saying a lot.

I do think the chiefs are in a bit of a different boat in that they’ve had pretty glaring weaknesses for multiple seasons now.  Pats was more of a 1-2 bad game thing.

not disagreeing with the ‘they’ll be better in the playoffs’ take but some of their weaknesses I can’t see going away even if worthy and rice were immediately at 100% which they almost definitely won’t be

It’s gonna admittedly be a silly point to criticize how they won the Super Bowl that year 😂. But the pats absolutely shouldn’t have won that one haha that was the Seahawks 1 yd line debacle I believe

They also lost in week 8 to the Browns and Week 11 to the Steelers. All those losses meant that they had to come to Buffalo. When there are only 17 games, they all matter.

Lots of people mentioning, missing Rice and Worthy --- true.

But Rice is coming off a knee, will he look like he did pre injury?

Bigger issues for them IMO, are the OL and Kelce isnt playing like his usual self.  The right side of that OL, especially Taylor, is horrendous.  Kelce dropped a sure TD, that turned into an INT --- when's that happened in the past?  Last week, he ran his crossing route at the goal line incorrectly too.

If Rice comes back like he was pre injury, that will help them immensely.  But other issues linger that might not be fixable until next yr.

It depends how they lost and who we lost to. If we lost because we had the same flaws that cause us to lose every January, then yea I'd been concerned that we still haven't addressed key problems. If there were tough bounces in a hard fought loss to high end teams? Not so much.

Frankly, I still feel nervous about our week 1 game against the Ravens, as I feel the game script and results were very similar to the playoff win last year and both times we needed a tremendous amount of luck to bounce our way to get out with a win. Whether or not we won in Week 1 was less interesting to me than the lack of answers we had for their rushing attack.

This time of year, getting better is my primary focus.

The Chiefs haven’t even played an away game yet and are winless. This is not a good sign. I can see them having 7 losses this year. May or may not be enough to get into playoffs.

The difference is KC has already come here and won, I don't really think they care.

Yep that's true, but would you bet money on the chargers to win the division over KC?

I definitely wouldn't As good teams always rise in December.

I remember in 2023 the bills were down like 4 games in the division with 6 to go and they still caught Miami and won the division lol.

Good call! ... just did LOL I might regret it, because that division is going to be a dogfight.  Denver is going to force some foes to split series with too

Well, technically playing in Brazil is an away game for both teams, but sure, due to technicalities, the Chiefs were the "home team".

I’m so sick of the ‘regular season doesn’t matter’ take haha probably my biggest pet peeve in sports right now.  if the bills had the bye the year we lost our whole LB room against pit I really don’t think the chiefs had a shot.

and last year maybe Baltimore going out to KC before us getting KC would’ve made more than a 3 point difference and maybe we don’t lose benford. Who knows.  Just cuz the chiefs took the road path once (they still got to rest guys because they had the division locked up) doesn’t mean it isn’t a much harder route

Yep, I meant on an opponents home field.

Mahomes running more doesn’t bode well for his health either. The Giants have a formidable DL so here’s hoping they crest constant disruption and sack Mahomes multiple times.

The interesting thing I've noticed is that Mahomes seems to be going back to trying to use his legs a lot more - reminiscent of him running around in his early years (after which he became much more of a distributor of the ball).

I give him credit for trying to put the team on his back while he's missing some weapons, but I think him trying to do so much himself iis also causing the offense to be less reliable and efficient.  Sure when he gets Rice and Worthy back things may change - but will be interesting to see how he plays as the season progresses and the offense will likely still not be what he has been used to (I do think that if he continues to 'challenge' tacklers on his way out of bounds he's going to start taking some serious hits)

People here treat the playoffs as a given. They're not. It's like everyone has collective amnesia about both the 2021 and 2023 seasons. In both cases, the Bills were out of a playoff spot in Early December and had to win out. And they almost didn't in both cases. Remember Matt Ryan's collapse at the end of that snow game in 2021? And in 2023, we were one Kadarius Toney offensive Offside penalty from missing the playoffs. Every game matters.

Miami had a scheduling fluke that year I feel like…I wish I was a betting person I probably woulda made a fortune predicting that one lol they had a really easy long stretch in the middle of the season then the schedule really heated up

Beating the Ravens was big for us.

Chiefs first half schedule is tough.  They could realistically be 0.500 when we see them in Buffalo.

Chargers 0 - 1

Eagles 0 - 2

Next Up:

Giants

Ravens

Jags

Lions

Raiders

Commanders

Bills
